I don’t think intensity was the problem for AD. He got swarmed by multiple guys every time he got the ball. He’s just not a quick passer out of the double team so it didn’t generate LA any good looks.

Sorry if my observation hurt your feelings but I really do think they could benefit from a hard ass leadership style in this bubble situation.

Guys like Howard, Green and McGee can’t seem to get enough video blog action in this bubble. It would be nice if one of them showed up for a game.

ya, players are who they are. Kobe wasnt beating Howard into shape back in 2012. Or getting Shaq to stop phuckin around, or Bynum after he got his money. AD doesnt play with real intensity a lot of the time, which is why i dont think the Lakers are gonna win. But dont put that on 'leadership', put it on AD.

At this point, I would not be surprised if they were bounced by the Blazers in the first round.

People may not like the hard ass but players fall in line when he and the coaching staff are in concert.

Im not saying it was the problem this game. Im saying it is the problem keeping him from being a Giannis level player. The attitude they bring to the game. Giannis plays with a force that AD doesnt

They generated some good looks and played exceptional defense for majority of the game. AD camping out on the perimeter because Dwight or Javale are occupying the paint is something that can't happen in the playoffs.

His passing out of those situations is deplorable. Post offense through Davis is not going to be a winning strategy. He is a finisher on the move, a lob threat and spot shooter/ finisher.

If Davis is not going to punish teams on the interior when they put smalls on him (both on the block and on the offensive glass) he needs to be shifted to the five where his soft perimeter style game will create greater mismatches.

One or both of McGee/ Howard may need to be pulled from the lineup in the postseason and relegated to big body coming in to give AD a breather (here and there).

They just look like a bunch of rag tag goofballs running around, video blogging their summer bubble vacation. I don’t see a group of guys hungry to win it all.

I just don’t see it.

One worrying thing about this game night be how teams are gonna defend Davis going forward. It's a copycat league and Nurse is the best defensive coach right now. Obviously not every team has Raps personell with positive defenders at every position and the length but teams weren't trapping Ad much before. It forces Lebron to be much more of a scorer too and based on how he's done against the top defenses this season he doesn't seem to be the same scorer he used to be

If he can get back to his March form, they would be fine. If not, I don't see them beating Clippers and the Bucks. It looks like he can get to his spots, but not forcing it so far. Jump shooting is a problem, tho.

I think it's good the Lakers get to play these tough games before the Playoffs instead of teams like Memphis, Phoenix, Pelicans, Wizards etc.

LeBron is still playing passive. He relies too much on AD to get going instead of being aggressive looking for his, I don’t know if it’s just rust or he’s simply unreliable as a scoring threat. His outside shooting is still inconsistent and predictable, and he has a hard time taking anyone off dribble one-on-one. I’ll never count him out given his playoffs history, but he’s nowhere near playoffs ready. On a positive note, his defense has been stellar.
Thanks for all the great memories, LeBron! The show must go on! #Heatnation

I still don't know why his passing is so bad from the double teams, he is 6'10 and he played guard when he was younger. Pathetic

I am ok posting up AD, most times he will either be too long or too quick for his defender. But it can only be done in limited minutes with another 5 out there who can't space the floor. Dwight and Mcgee have some value in the dunker spot and can clean up his misses, but we need more spacing

Lebron needs to be aggressive in the playoffs, this has become infuriating to watch. I also think someone from LA needs to have a legit convo with Silver and others about the officiating regarding Lebron.

Lebron and AD likely get all the attention come playoffs, it is up to DG, Dion, KCP, Caruso, Kuzma, Kieff, and even JR or Cook to hit open 3s.

Shooting has been so shaky all year, one of the reasons why we go big so much, sometimes it is also a good idea to just play to your strengths and overpower teams down low

Raptors' D was about as good as I've seen from a team all season. Being able to protect the paint that well yet still barely allowing good looks from the perimeter in today's league is pretty much an impossibility.

The only positive for LA I thought was LeBron looking much, much better in this game than against LAC. Hopefully sign of things to come.

These are contradictory wishes, Houston would have a better chance of upsetting the Lakers than the Clippers would.

You think we would have an easier time with LAC than with Hou?

Yes. Clippers just aren't a very dynamic team, Kawhi and George are strong isolation scorers, but they don't really drive and break down the defense. Lebron has enough strength to be an effective defender on them in crunch time and even AD can stay in front of them really. Just not enough firepower to keep up with the Lakers.

Rockets otoh are a very scary team; I've just watched their game against the Bucks, who are a very strong defensive team, and the ease with which they create great looks from 3 is incredible. And while Lebron and AD can contain Kawhi and George and stop them from going off, Westbrook is a demon in the open court, Lakers have no one who can stop him from wrecking havoc with his drives with the spacing the Rockets have and if they overcommit he's amazing at finding open shooters. And that's just one half of the problem of dealing with the Rockets offense, then there's Harden's elite iso scoring and putting fouls on everyone.

Giannis was basically irrelevant on defense against the Rockets and while AD is the clearly superior defensive player and will be a superior rim deterrent against Westbrook, I still fear his impact will be heavily mitigated + don't think 2 big lineups will be very playable in a possible series against the Rockets.

That's the only series I'd fear for the Lakers tbh, if the Rockets are hot from 3 the Lakers will simply run into a mathematical problem... however, Rockets are also liable to flame out spectacularly if their role players go cold from 3 since they have no B plan so chances are the series might not even take place.

As long as they dont play the Blazers in the 1st round it wont matter

Grizz or Spurs are an easy sweep

Bucks have lost 5 of their last 7. Entirely possible that they would've ended up with a worse record than the Lakers if the season didn't shut down. Damn

They have a good shot at the 3rd seed. Not sure if they want it, Clippers are a tougher match up for them than the Lakers.
