Rob Manfred Warns MLBPA Of Possible Shutdown

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Fri Jul 31, 2020 9:05 pm

Rob Manfred told Tony Clark on Friday that if baseball doesn\'t do a better job of managing the coronavirus, it could shut down for the season, according to sources.

The league and Major League Baseball Players Association recognize the coming days are a critical juncture following an outbreak on the Miami Marlins. Six teams were sidelined on Friday due to postponed games.

Should another outbreak materialize, Manfred has the power to shut the season down.

never should have started the season. The MLB wasnt in a spot like the NBA because the MLB had not even started their season yet. It would have been simple to just pass on the season. Now game are getting cancelled. MLB had all this time to get it together. They are a complete joke. NBA took all teams to 1 spot to play. Stupid baseball still does the travel and they wonder why this is happening. Rob Manfred should be removed as Commissioner . all that work for nothing. MLB is a joke

Completely agree. MLB has had their heads in the sand doing nothing as this pandemic took hold. How they thought that they could travel & operate as usual (minus fans in stands) is baffling.

NFL needs to take note & correct course, though it is likely too late at this point. NFL should probably just cancel the season now if they aren't going to take things seriously.

This reminds me of all the braindead jimmy hats in this country who amazingly couldn't conceive that they should've been formulating a plan to return kids to school since March, not stumbling backwards into the concept in July. But then we are a nation of exceptionally donkeybrained, shortsighted people so this is what you get.

Manfred should,be fired for the handling of bountygate and now the entire 2020 season, he’s been a complete disaster. But the owners never seem to fire any terrible commish as long as he’s pushing their agenda.

I am not donkeybrained and I have a certificate to prove it.

while its not practical to play a whole season in a bubble, the MLB should have done a shortened season in a bubble. or even two bubbles, one AL, one NL.

one would think that baseball as a sport should be doing better in the pandemic, because there is much less body to body contact in the sport.

oh, and as the 3 month (shortened) season goes on, teams that become practically eliminated from playoffs stop playing, to reduce possible covid exposure.
