I'm just going to assume you guys are working for Cuomo or Deblasio's campaign. Maybe you volunteered to move covid patients into nursing homes?

You are either simply dumb or maliciously ignorant.
NYC was one of the first cities to be hit by covid and quickly spread due to its population density, hence the curve. The US is a big country fella. Those other parts of the country will also go through a similar cycle but won't be as quick of a recovery due to lower population density of those areas.
Oh I see. Now I'm dumb according to the guy who lied about herd immunity when there isn't even a scientific consensus about the effects of the virus.
And I'm also maliciously ignorant because I'm not complying with your wish fulfillment scenarios that extrapolates outcomes just like they did with herd immunity.
If the shoe fits pal, wear it. Your finger pointing is purely politicized anger masquerading as unsubstantiated claims about results and outcomes that any sober person respectful of actual scientific fact would never indulge in.
Maybe you should go find another sandbox to play in if you get so enraged at being called out for being a fantasist that you can't resist name calling here.

It's a miracle! Never will the government ever have to do anything for any infectious disease, since they always just take care of themselves.

It's only old people taking one for the team!
Oh, sorry. That's a right wing talking point.
Oh, and a person can be a centrist and not like either of those guys, the same as someone (at least used to be able to) vote Republican without being a mouth breathing Trumper.

Can't people just create a "I Enjoy Right Wing Authoritarianism" topic to post in? I know it would attract at least 3 posters on here on the regular.

I never said that. Both federal and local govts could've done plenty to stop the virus at it's peak.
For example not housing covid patients with one of the most vulnerable groups, the elderly, in nursing homes.
I'm just refuting the antiscience scientist that "feels" covid is a special virus that doesn't follow the same principles of immunity that all viruses do. Especially when the data correlates with it.
But continue to twist my argument, as I understand it's hard for most people to simply deny logic when it hits them in the face. Unless you are a wind up toy like that clyde poster.

So the 1918 virus followed those rules too eh? Shame the populace tried to take any measures against it. Everybody should have "Done the Philly" on their way to "herd immunity"
They aren't doing anything different here. The available measures to lessen it's impact.
I guess, unfortunately or unfortunately, depending, is that this virus is worse than the yearly one(s) yet not as bad as the 1918 one. Since apparently it takes one the level of the 1918 one to get people's actual attention.

yeah all we had to do was have more cases and deaths than any other place in the whole world and then afterwards adhere to strict mask wearing and implement shutdown guidelines for months to which we are still following today and we have flat lined cases, clearly doing absolutely nothing at all as you are advocating would have had the same outcome and we should just stop doing what is working
they might go through a similar cycle if they wear masks and shut down like we did
even trump had to admit this on this during his interview last night start at 4:13-4:55

Take all the measures you want. Most are just posturing at this point, and harmful to people's health via the economic consequences of prolonging the shutdown.
As far as NYC is concerned the damage is done.
NYS already failed to act quickly and took measures that were directly harmful to some of the most vulnerable groups.
Now that we have reached herd immunity the only thing left for politicians to do is extend the economic bleeding in hopes a Biden presidency bails them out.

Quote where I said no precautionary measures shouldn't have been taken or where I said anything about being antimask?
The damage has been done. NYS was caught with their pants down, as the virus spread and killed thousands of the most vulnerable population. Now the city is benefiting from herd immunity.

I've seen enough

At least some of you have moved on to just accusing of me things I never said, instead of dying on the hill that herd immunity doesn't apply to covid like Dr. Clyde_style.

Re: Democratic Primary Thread: The Deuce
You are making baseless claims with absolutely no evidence (herd immunity has been reached), the evidence you provided only shows a flattened curve which seems to support the idea that it was the shutdown and distancing and masks that flattened the curve and continue to work in preventing the spread of the virus, and should these baseless claims be acted upon it would certainly ruin the progress we have made in flattening the curve and kill a lot more people

Re: Democratic Primary Thread: The Deuce
the damage is not done. as bad as it was the damage would have been significantly worse and still can be a lot worse if we want to remain detached from reality and think that the virus is over and that the city is immune now

Well, there's always a balance between lives, economic necessity.
That's why you need mature, balanced, smart leaders who understand how to navigate a tough situation.
Instead we got Trump.
Anyway, boohoo. If you believe in States Rights, then they have the right to manage it the way they want, for good or bad, and screw Cheeto Jesus, the congress, Senate, the deep state, the shallow state, etc etc etc.

You've posted a half dozen insults towards me whenever I have asked for evidence and you have produced none. So, in conclusion, yes, you are a liar who cannot deal with reality. That's a factual observation.

I believe the protests are stronger evidence against distancing factoring into the numbers than anything you can provide proving otherwise. Go ahead and provide evidence for your case on distancing though. Protests and population density work against your argument.
Wear the mask. Masks don't affect whether the shutdown continues or not.

sure, here's one peer-reviewed scientific journal detailing it. i would go through more but I doubt you could find even one that corroborates your claim that herd immunity has been reached so one should be enough
https://science.sciencemag.org/content/368/6493/860.full
actually here's another
https://www.cebm.net/covid-19/what-is-the-evidence-for-social-distancing-during-global-pandemics/
this isn't even political either, I don't like cuomo or de blasio. i voted against cuomo. there is no partisan support for the idea that herd immunity has been reached, this is a completely fringe idea
