medical experts are generally not factoring in the socio-economic tradeoffs of the shutdown, and definitely not factoring in the consequences of the incurred debt for the future.
so a medical expert like Fauci will always take the most cautious position as related to the virus without factoring in the consequences of that position.

well that's fair but it's also an entirely different conversation, to which I would say they haven't been concerned about the incurred debt for the future for any of their other endeavors up until now so it's a hard sell to convince people that now, when it's our lives that are on the line that we can't afford to take care of ourselves. if we truly can't afford to take care of our own lives maybe that points to a broader problem in the priorities of the society

Speaking of factoring in more than just the medical factors; Sam Seder had a really good interview about factoring in socio-economic needs to the virus response. It's legit that you can't stay home if you have to work to keep that roof over your head or food on the table. Confronting that reality is truly important; but we can't properly confront that reality by misrepresenting the data or the science.

It's at (17:56) to start a really great interview.

For the average person I'd say this third grade level reading error is an anti-semitic Freudian slip

For Trump, it is simply his usual illiteracy on display

 Great job nominating the self-proclaimed "Trump Democrat." Fcking brilliant.

A new survey by independent polling firm Morning Consult shows Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell with a commanding lead in his bid for a seventh term in Kentucky, leading 53% to 36% over his Democratic challenger Amy McGrath.

I wish there wasn't so much pressure to pick a black woman, because I very strongly want Elizabeth Warren to run this damn country.

But it looks like it is going to be Harris. I'm fine with that, just wish it was Warren who'd be a phenomenal POTUS.

And among the rumored finalists, I hope they don't pick Bass who is just too easy a target and probably would lose Florida for Biden. And I don't see the point of Susan Rice really.

I thought it was an ammonia nitrate storage facility.

Not being facetious. Just what I read.

Yeah, I'm just finding the reports now. They say a door at a warehouse was being welded where 2,750 tons of ammonia nitrate was stored. WTF?

That's 1,000 times the amount McVeigh used in OKC. No wonder it looked atomic.

What horrifying negligence

It probably blew out the windows around the city and everyone is getting gassed. What a tragedy

show me the cases of reinfection. otherwise, i will look towards sweden and nyc's flatline in cases.

as far as your economic speculation, i'll rely on the krona to usd valuation over your views.

but keep pretending that team Democrat will save you by forcing small businesses to continue to shutdown with cases flatlined in hopes of more bailouts from the fed printers.

Are you saying NYC reached herd immunity? I just want to make sure instead of assuming

Yes. Testing is at an all time high but cases have flat-lined to all time low.
The only people disputing this are the democrat bootlickers trying to politicize this virus, and anyone who benefits from a continued shutdown such as the CCP and AMZN shareholders.

Or

The shutdown limited exposure
The masks limited exposure
The testing and finding infected limited exposure

And naturally

The numbers dropped

Science. Not propaganda to worship dear leader

You are either simply dumb or maliciously ignorant.
NYC was one of the first cities to be hit by covid and quickly spread due to its population density, hence the curve. The US is a big country fella. Those other parts of the country will also go through a similar cycle but won't be as quick of a recovery due to lower population density of those areas.

I don't usually reply to comments this old, but when I do, it's because the comment is so freakin' idiotic that people need to look at it and get a good laugh.

I'll post peer review research when you do so, showing antibodies percentages don't exist in any meaningful amount. Oh wait you don't have any? But you have access to all the journals as part of your job...

Actually I had a pubmed article all about herd immunity with a solid simplified threshold (67%) projected for you all nice and ready straight outta pubmed which has a ton of free research for you to explore.

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7236739/

Now it’s your turn...is nyc at 67% immunity or approaching it?

J4remi, your intelligence is not limited to just basketball. Thanks for this.

The masks were called muzzles, germ shields and dirt traps. They gave people a “pig-like snout.” Some people snipped holes in their masks to smoke cigars. Others fastened them to dogs in mockery. Bandits used them to rob banks.

More than a century ago, as the 1918 influenza pandemic raged in the United States, masks of gauze and cheesecloth became the facial front lines in the battle against the virus. But as they have now, the masks also stoked political division. Then, as now, medical authorities urged the wearing of masks to help slow the spread of disease. And then, as now, some people resisted.

In 1918 and 1919, as bars, saloons, restaurants, theaters and schools were closed, masks became a scapegoat, a symbol of government overreach, inspiring protests, petitions and defiant bare-face gatherings. All the while, thousands of Americans were dying in a deadly pandemic.

I think it's an age thing with Warren. Biden is already 77 and Warren is 71. My belief is they want someone who not only could take over for Biden in the event he doesn't/can't serve 1 or 2 terms, but someone who could theoretically serve for 16 years (8 with Biden, then 8 as their own president). Liz would be too old.

You're correct, Bass and Rice would be eaten alive for a variety of reasons. If the only knock against Kamala Harris is ambition, she needs to be the pick.

The Ambition slur is code for stay in the kitchen. America is both racist and misogynist. Other countries have had female prime ministers for decades now, but in the U.S. we still have that glass ceiling.

But that is something I actually like about Harris. She will chew through Mike Pence like a buzzsaw. We need a smart and tough female president and she definitely is that.

Very true about code. So is the "She just rubs people the wrong way" argument. If she were a man, her "ambition" would be considered impressive.

One interesting point about Harris and the black vote: she's an AKA (Alpha Kappa Alpha) from Howard. Trust that her sorors are prepared to do whatever it takes to get out the vote for her.

Biden already issued a stern public warning to Putin. With him and Harris I'd feel comfortable that we'd restore our alliances. Much as I'd rather focus on domestic and environmental issues, but the damage Trump did to our foreign relationships is truly obscene and we need strong leadership that can show our allies measures will be taken so America never falls into the hand of a fascist puppet again.

If it is Harris then I really, really, really want Schiff to take the AG job and prosecute the living hell out of these criminals. I want them to be tried and convicted for treason.

EDIT: I didn't realize you were talking about Michelle Obama. Don't expect it.
