Well I think Knicks fans reject the notion of Scott Perry being a good GM.

Perry has some good things under his belt. Getting the CHI pick for Melo & using it on Mitch is obviously the best move.
This was a foolish statement on his part. It’s better to let kids languish than to grow in the G League? Dumb

I was reading something and he was only talking about 3 players. Knox, Dsj and someone else. My guess is Frank

Well, we reportedly had the smallest developmental staff in the NBA last year, and our G-League program wasn't much to write home about, especially after Miller left.
So the kids were probably screwed either way.

scott perry sucks, not because he didn't send kevin knox to the g-league, he sucks because he selected kevin knox.

Not because I have any inside knowledge, but how do you know Knox wasn't his pick? How do you really know whether Mills, with his Calipari connections didnt override him?
Btw, I trust that Rose knows what happened and like Scott but also brought in better scouts to assit him.
My take.

Even more, he sucks because he let Fizdale gushing after Knox's workout tip the scales for him

mills had the final say but it always seemed to be more of a partnership between mills & perry than a boss employee relationship. they always presented themselves that way. so i hold them both responsible.

I remember Knox being a fairly popular prospect when he was drafted.

Re: Scott Perry rejected the notion on sending players to G-League, feeling it would be perceived as too big a demotion
How come no one is taking into account the fact that Kevin Knox and the other young guys were literally coached by the worst or second worse head coach in the entire NBA for 2 years?
One can say Fizdale wasted 2 years of each players basketball careers, thinking he was going to come in here and just sit on the bench, similar to Popovich, Kerr, and Phil while collecting wins, instead of putting his players in position to succeed. Fizdale forced every player on the roster into isolation situations on every trip down the court, which was a weakness maybe for everyone on the team but Allonzo Trier.
Maybe the G-League would've saved Kevin from having to be coached by Fizdale for 2 years.
Perry hired a head coach that to this day no one can tell me which side of the ball he specialized in while being here for 2 years.

Re: Scott Perry rejected the notion on sending players to G-League, feeling it would be perceived as too big a demotion
The bad decision was not drafting Knox. He was a toolsy pick that had shown some flashes and was barely old enough to smoke. There are players we could/should have taken over him for sure, but there was a logic there.
The problem is drafting a player like that when you have no established development structure. We literally had no plan for him. We played him 35 mins a game one year, and then used him situationally in year 2. We still haven't even picked a position for him yet. That's terrible.
A team like the 76ers has 22 staff members, including 6 coaches, who are dedicated to nothing but player development. We had the smallest development operation in the league.
Which situation do you think was better suited to take a chance on a player like Knox?

the sixers drafted a bunch of guys who didn't become much. at picks higher than knox. sometimes kids just don't work out.

This is so silly.
You think the players or reps were all on board with going to the G-League? And if so, should Scott have “iron fisted” them and demand they go? This from an organization that has been accused of not exactly being player centric? And can you just imagine the headlines if we, a losing team, decided to send our young cubs down to the G-league in favor of Randle/Portis/Elf?
BermanBury was already picking at us for spending a whopping $1M of Dolandollars on Iggy but not having him play with the big team.
The spotlight here is a huge issue with developing players. Such a damned if you do, damned if you don’t deal here.
One day we’ll all realize how appropriate Dolan’s media (exclusion) policy was.
