Pretty damn impressive tbh. One of the best seasons in NBA history, no doubt.

Achieving the highest single season PER, an advanced stat that doesn’t really acknowledge defence, while possibly winning DPOY.

Incredible season, one of the greatest ever.

Yes, PER is Offensive stat that mostly value productivity & efficiency.

MJ's 88 season is so crazy with the 31.71 PER, MVP and DPOY. To think Giannis could do the same with an even higher PER is insane. If he doesn't win a couple rings in his career I'd be very surprised.

PER is poor stat and useless between eras. Still being the first in history is quite impressive.

I can acknowledge the greatness of his play and this season especially, but oh boy the admittedly few times I watched him I hated the way he played

On top of all of that, the Bucks have gone 55-14 this season, whereas Bulls went 50-32.

In a full NBA Season, the Bucks are on pace to win 65 games, 15 more than the ‘88 Bulls.

This Bucks team is a lot better than those 88 Bulls though. MJ didn't have anything close to an All-Star on his team at the time.

what even more imoressive, is that every individual PER also depends on every one else playing in the league, as average production is always 15 PER. I havent checked, but I imagine Wilts era league wasnt this efficient and productive, meaning that Giannis numbers in Wilts or maybe even MJs years would have been equaled to even greater PER that what it already is, and it shows that Giannis is more dominant than these guys taking account todays production. So, Giannis Statistically more dominant against 2020s league, than Wilt was in damn 1963s league, thats insane.

How is it useless between eras considering it takes into consideration what an average production would be any given year? It does adjust from year to year.

As far as poor stat, I think people are exaggerating how bad it is. The three complaints you always here are : “it doesn’t take defense into consideration, it overrates big men, it overrates some low mpg guys (generally big men)”... well yeah. It’s not a ranking of the best players in the league, it‘s about who’s more productive while on the floor. It’s not the stat’s fault if people consider rebounds like “production” and big men grab more of them. It calculates productivity and it does it pretty well, especially when you compare guys who play the same kind of minutes, which you should.

The again, Wilt was playing 48mpg vs 31mpg for Giannis... so ultimately, yeah, it's hard to compare, but that's all we have.

Impressive if he does achieve it. And yes, I think he deserves MVP and DPOY.

I'm actually surprised that LeBron only has two seasons on the all-time PER list, I thought he had more with 31+ PER. Or maybe Steph's historic 2015-16 season pushed another LeBron season down or something.

Gonna be a Debbie downer and ask what are the all time high pers at this point in the season? It’s an asterisks for me in terms of best per ever.

Not saying it’s not one of the best seasons ever.

I believe Giannis' PER was even higher than 34 at some point in middle of reg. season. He could easily maintain it over 32 even if he played full 82 games season.

That’s the point though all these all time pers tend to peak and then drop a bit.

All he needs to do now is take his talents to south beach and cement a couple rings to bolster him into top 15 all time convo.

Wilts's PER numbers measure different things than Giannis's because of lack of some stats used in PER formula.

That said, Giannis has have one of the best RS ever and nobody can deny that.

They didn't record block shots and steals during Wilt's day.

Or turnovers, or off/def rebounds.
