Sports Illustraded and various other outlets have our Bubble Big 3 of Allen, Harris and Levert OUT today. The rest of your injury list, Paradise, seems accurate, so neither team will be fielding a full lineup. We are coming off of about 55hrs rest, while LAC played a late, hotly contested game yesterday. Ifthere's one way to face the Clippers, tired but not angry is a preferred way. If we bring the Bad-News-Bears attitude that we employed against Milwaukee, we might have a shot. Let's get into it:
Jackson vs Chiozza - Reggie is an incredibly talented guard, LAC were fortunate to snag him off the waiver wire after he negotiated a buyout from Detroit. However, he doesn't always use his size t his advantage; small, strong and quick guards like Cheese can give him trouble. I'm calling this one a draw, maybe it's my fandom.
Shamet vs Johnson - Landry is a deep-stat fan's dream; he always takes high-% shots relative to his skill-set, and wastes no usage. Tyler is similarly efficient in terms of usage, but his shot has betrayed him in the bubble. I see LAC eeking out an edge here.
Leonard vs Temple - Good luck, Garrett. Kawhi is a two-way superstar in his prime, coming off of an extra day's rest. Temple will be asked to lead this Nets team similar to his counterpart. At 33yo and with a much narrower skill-set, this may be asking far too much. No surprises, LAC demolishes us here.
Morris vs Cabarrot - The paint could swing the game. Marcus LOOOOVES to back down smaller opponents in the paint. TLC will need to prepare all of the undersized tricks: front the post, deny entry feeds, pull the chair and take charges. He can also drag the younger Morris twin out on the perimeter on the other end, and hopefully trade baskets 2-for-3. Another possible homer pick, I say it'll be a draw.
Zubac vs Kurucs - Ivaca doesn't mind his extremely small offensive role, and he is extremely efficient at it.Defensively, he is a large and disciplined defender, but he's neither a rim protector nor fleet of foot. Rodi has been hot from long range, BUT rather than bail out LAC with 26-ft heaves, I'd like to see him force the issue with dribble drives. The Clippers are relentless in sending secondary defenders to swipe at the ball, but Kurucs can break down this defense. Can he finish and/or pass under duress? He's collected a ghastly number of traveling violations and offensive fouls this way, but if he can do right here, it would mean alot.
Bench vs Bench - Lou "Chicken Wings" Williams can absolutely roast a compromised 2nd unit like ours. I wouldn't be shocked if he drops 30. The silver bullet we have against him is Jeremiah Martin, and I'll be interested to see our young defensive ace can muzzle a supreme 1v1 scorer. Beyond that, neither team offer a ton off the bench. Jamychal Green could blow the game open, as we have no 2nd-unit big to keep up with him. Musa might have another weird night, where he shoots 1-for-9 with 4 turnovers, but somehow maintains a +14 on/off court.
Rivers vs Vaughn - Doc is as surgical a tactician as they come. Vaughn is a great inspirational presence, but his opponent will outsmart and outflank him.
PREDICTION: Nets 109, Clippers 122
