The only extraneous thing in that package I would value is the 1st rounder. Which we may or may not be able to secure. Besides, further evaluation time of Ben Simmons holds premium value to me.

That's fair. I think, for Joel's sake, we still have to push hard to acquire a perimeter scorer this summer. I don't think we can sit on our hands, or else we run the risk of pissing off our franchise player (especially after already letting Jimmy and JJ go). We need a 1B to pair with Embiid's 1A, particularly come playoff time. We know Ben is not that dude and probably never will be. I think it's safe to assume our current lineup won't compete for a championship.
Mitchell (long shot)
Jrue
CJM
Lavine
CP3
That's a shortlist of who I think could put us over the top and might attainable without giving up Ben/Jo. Any others?

Maxey/McCain/Lowry
Edgecombe/Grimes/Gordon
George/Oubre/Edwards

Why wait and take less assets? Either way you’re getting Fox and would have to max him. Not like we’d have cap space to use in place of Buddy/Bjelica either.
Because there's no way ownership is gonna let team salary balloon even further. I think Hield is going to be viewed as a negative value contract this offseason. He's been awful in the bubble. I also wouldn't be surprised if he demands out given the role he's been relegated to if Walton sticks around.

Those are the exact lower risk options that we need to be chasing after. Not a 'Tobias Harris' deal on the eve of a game winner and 34 point night...
Hield is a perfect 4th option in a starting rotation with tremendous pull that can move well without the ball and shoot. Simple dynamic. Much better than a Richardson who's caught in limbo and has no real purpose when he's on the floor.

He's an interesting fit with Ben and Jo as a gettable piece that can give you massive volume from 3 on good efficiency. The lack of quick trigger 3 point shooters with those 2 makes no sense. I'd be a little worried about stacking up mediocre/bad defenders though, and he seems to be a guy you can't count on as a decision maker with the ball. Moreover, who do you pair him with in the backcourt? Him and Shake feels disastrous on the defensive end. Him and Thybulle doesn't provide you with enough ball handling/playmaking unless you want to revert back to Simmons as the lone ball handler.

I see him as a Redick with improved ball handling, size and athleticism. But also not great defending and less polished. But you can live with it with the shooting ability he brings. The pnr's with with and Embiid would also be great.
Then acquiring a legit ballhandling 1 and we're back on track.

I don't see any of these guys as realistic. Lavine, maybe.
Maybe Jrue too but I think the Pels would probably want to give their guys another full season. And Lonzo has been bad in the bubble

It just ruins me how we turned a #1 overall pick into literally nothing... It's so sad. One of the greatest sports tragedies of all time.
I wonder what Hinkie would have done at #3

I still don't even think the Fultz pick ruined us. It was Brett Brown's whiff in 2018.
Gilgeous-Alexander was a way better prospect than Fultz that very next year and was giftwrapped for us at #10. Hell, even keeping Mikal Bridges would have been amazing right about now. We traded back and literally drafted a guy that can't play.

Wasting a #1 pick is infinitely worse than whiffing at 10.
Not only did we get absolutely nothing out of it. We wasted another lottery to move UP to draft nothing. Not even a quality role player or a low end starter.
And our Rivals two picks below us who we gave more assets to used our pick to draft one of the best wing prospects to be drafted in the past 10 years.
Awful day just for the franchise just ruined by BC and Adam Silver
The Zhaire move was pretty abysmal though, but we did get the Miami pick out of it at least and that turned into T-to- (i can't even say it)

I think it's infinitely worse when you're offered salvation and you turn it down.
The sins of 2017 could have been rendered irrelevant the moment we announced the SGA selection. That's why it hurts more and is worse.

Re: Fantasy Trade Thread 2019-2020 Post Season
It would never be rendered irrelevant. Wasting that top 3 pick + another lottery pick was wasting the chance to build a dynasty. That was the moment that the Process was killed in my opinion. We just had so many assets that it could have sort of been rectified by hitting on that #10 pick.
Shai
Redick
Butler
Simmons

Probably is a championship caliber starting 5, as is

Re: Fantasy Trade Thread 2019-2020 Post Season
There are so many what ifs with this team.
Hell, just imagine how much better we'd be if we never made the Tobias trade and re-signed Jimmy. ****, you might have still ended up with Tobias with the amount of money they had (only on a more reasonable deal... Plus Shamet and picks).
Or if they made no trades last year and went into free agency with cap to sign a high powered backcourt to go with Covington/Simmons/Embiid in the frontcourt.
Or if they went after a playmaking guard (Kemba, Russell, Brogdon) instead of Horford this summer.

Tim Hardaway and Courtney Lee for Tobias.
JRich and Zhaire for Spencer Dinwiddie.
Shake
Dinwiddie
Thybulle
Ben
Embiid
Possibly replace Shake with someone in the draft who can shoot, attack the closeout, and play passable defense.
Obviously the big lineup with no scorers isn't working for us. I'm ready to put some scoring depth on the roster. Also, Tobias simply cannot stay. He's a black hole on offense and mediocre on defense.

Re: Fantasy Trade Thread 2019-2020 Post Season
Is there a package the Cavaliers could come to the Sixers with to make trading Ben attractive?
To the casual fans that want Ben gone, it probably wouldn't take much but to the fans that understand the fact that he's a near transcendent talent that's been a winner since he stepped onto the floor. Is there a deal to be made?
I do not want Elton having a say in a Ben Simmons deal. Why is it so hard for us to find competent management...

Think this is a logic trade that both teams would be interested in. Because of the fact that Buddy's contract is one year more, I think we could demand another piece (Bjelica for our OKC pick) and then salaries would fit.
This trade would bolster our shooting big time, but we will be left without some sort of decent back-up for Joel.
