There have been some great shooters in the game that learned how to make plays for others - eventually. I see that tendency in Porter. Think about Reggie Miller - Kyle Korver - Ray Allen - JJ Redick and probably some others. There have been others that were great shooters that naturally made plays for others. Think about Larry Bird, Allen Iverson, Klay Thompson, and so so so many others.
If either of you expect MPJ to get more than a couple of assists per game than you do not understand his role. He is the finisher, the guy we have needed for years that will put up the shot or drive the lane looking to score. That is the role that we need from him, and it fits his game. Our primary ball handlers are Jokic and Murray, Morris and Plumlee have the ball off the bench, when he is on the court we all know Barton will have the ball a lot, those are the guys who will get the assists. Porter on offense needs to just focus on finding ways to score, even when his shot is off like it was in this game.
That is not to say that Porter is not a capable passer, he is not nor will he ever be like Jokic, but he has shown some ability to find the open man and hit them with a pass. Which is all we need out of him right now.
