Robert Williams has earned 15 minutes per game in the bubble. He’s shown some growth I say brad throws him into the playoffs to get acclimated with embiid. We have no other answer.

Re: Timelord your time has come
Tell me, who are you in this terrifying form? I bow to you hands together in homage praying for mercy. Please have mercy on me. I desire to know your beginning. I desire to understand you and know your purpose.
The TimeLord then said, "I am never ending Time! I am the destroyer of worlds, forever moving forward creating and destroying all worlds. I am here to abolish everyone sparing no one. Even if you don’t raise your arms and fight back, all the warriors arrayed before you have to die."
"Therefore, arise, conquer your enemies, achieve glory and travel your path of championships. All those who you see are already sentenced to death. You are just my instrument."
"Go forth and slay Embiid, slay Siakam, slay Giannis, slay Lebron, and all their brave teammates. Do not hesitate or worry. Do not be afraid. These have already been killed by me. Fight and you will conquer your enemies in battle. Pick up your ball and earn the right to rule."

PIPM, which has him ranked 40th, is leading me to believe that we had some pretty poor shooting luck defensively when Time lord was on the floor. I think we all may have underrated him due to this.

Throw timelord on the court and let his play determine his minutes, sounds simple but sometimes he’s just off. Whether it’s out of position, relying on his athleticism when he’s in the wrong spot, going for head fakes etc.
In the bubble he was poised, played with a high iq and a real contributor who showed he could be a difference maker at times.

Yah, I’m growing increasingly confident in him and even more confident that we need to dump Kanter in the offseason

I would love to bring back Baynes in the offseason.

I’ll go one step further, he should start over Theis next season. Theis does great things and his screening and outside shooting are a big help but I think WIlliams skill set helps the starting 5 more

Bubble RW3 is an objectively superior player to Theis. His impact in his minutes so far this year place him as the 40th most impactful player in the league by PIPM. Sky is the limit with minutes. This is peak Theis right now, he can't really go anywhere but down. RW3 is just getting started.
Kanter isn't going to want to be here as the clear 3rd string C starting next year. He's going to want out. The question is will any other team want him for the $5m option on the Celtics next year. Maybe Danny can find a trade for him. Just see Kancer becoming a problem if he's riding the pine..

Theis fits Brad's system better. He's a more polished vet who can stretch the floor and knows where he needs to be. If he didn't get screwed so much by the refs he'd have an even bigger impact. He needs to shoot 3-4 threes a game because he is WIDE open. And if teams started worrying about Theis it'd open up things for everyone else.
Robert Williams does need a bigger role and hopefully they let Semi go and Kanter opts out so he'll get it. It's imperative they draft a stretch 4 or 5 to groom to be Theis' replacement. With our picks we should have a chance to that with one of our three first rounders.

Well then Brad needs to adjust his "system". Celtics are 32 points per 100 possessions better when Rob is playing in the bubble. Good coaches are flexible to get their best players in the floor. Play Rob..

Re: Let's talk Robert Williams
rob is kanter's replacement, not theis's.
i'd love to see him grow enough to basically split time with theis next year, and then take over the year after when theis gets a big contract somewhere.
not sure we really need baynesie next year, much as i love the guy. maybe the year after as a backup to TL.

Boo-butt failed to qualify since he didn't play in enough games/made enough field goals, but his FG% for the season is 72.7%. Second among qualifiers is Gobert with 69.3%. Jarrett Allen is third with 64.9%.

I hope "Kancer" was a typo, he's been anything but. The quality of his play is debatable though I like what he brings off the bench for cheap but he's obviously a good teammate.

I think there's some "grass is always greener on the other side" here. There are definitely things Timelord brings over Theis that could/would help. The lob threat would help the traffic in the paint be less focused on the perimeter guys when they drive. But Theis' more respectable outside shot would have less traffic in there to begin with.
Truth is, starting vs bench doesn't really matter to me. Some matchups I'm sure we'd rather have Theis, some Williams makes more sense. I just hope both are in the rotation next year, playing well to their strengths and on a game to game basis minutes played sort themselves out based on who makes most sense.

Not sure I see Rob starting over Theis, Theis is pretty consistent which is what Brad likes. Rob is coming along quick though, I think he’ll take Kanters minutes next season.

Agreed. Theis has really settled in. I consider him to have clearly separated himself into our "top 6".
Rob played 388 minutes in a shortened season, or 11% of available minutes. Even if Kanter stays, I see a clear path to at least 900 minutes off the bench next year. If Kanter leaves, his minutes will only be constrained by his performance.

Theis sets those seals after picks and gets our scorers a lot of easy points. There is no stat to show that. But that's why it will be hard for anyone to take his starting spot. Williams is probably better off playing with Smart off the bench as we can look to him for scoring.

A Smart, Langford, Brown, Tatum, Williams lineup in a few years should be absolutely lethal.
