How is Griffin out? There are rumors they let him coach a game to let him showcase himself for a coaching job?

Been wondering where you been buddy. Hoping this forum gets back to it's glory days again.

Still watching the occasional game - but those Gar years really sucked all the fun out of being a fan. Excited for the possibilities of what may be.

Gonna guess Griffin is out now after he was accused of assault yesterday

Possible, we'll have to see how that plays out.

If he's guilty f*ck em but the timing of the accusation coming out after coaching his first game is...strange.

Here's the full press release from Bulls:

Chicago Bulls Executive Vice President – Basketball Operations Arturas Karnisovas announced today that Jim Boylen has been relieved of his duties as head coach.

MICHAEL REINSDORF: "No one could question Jim's passion for our team and our organization. We sincerely appreciate his tireless efforts and contributions during his time with the Bulls, and we wish him and his family the very best."

ARTURAS KARISOVAS: "After doing a comprehensive evaluation and giving the process the time it deserved, I ultimately decided that a fresh approach and evolution in leadership was necessary. This was a very difficult decision, but it is time for our franchise to take that next step as we move in a new direction and era of Chicago Bulls basketball. Jim is a great human being that cares deeply about this organization and the game of basketball. I want to thank him for his professionalism and commitment to the franchise."

Boylen first came to Chicago as an associate head coach during the 2015-16 season and was named the team's 23rd head coach on December 3, 2018. During his time at the helm of the Bulls, he compiled an overall record of 39-84 (.317).

A formal coaching search will begin immediately

Thought I saw it reported yesterday that he had been accused of domestic violence

In a message posted to Twitter, Audrey Griffin said Adrian Griffin had repeatedly abused her, including choking her, throwing her into a wall with enough force to leave a hole and dragging her across a lawn while she was pregnant.

"This morning, accusations were made against me on social media by my former wife that I vehemently deny," Adrian Griffin said in a statement released by the Raptors. "We are involved in a longstanding legal dispute over alimony and child support arrangements. I am disappointed to have to address false accusations in this way, and I apologize for any distraction this has potentially caused for our team at this important time."

The Raptors also issued a separate statement on the matter.

"When we saw these allegations this morning, we were dismayed -- Adrian is a valuable member of our team," the team said in the statement. "Our leadership immediately spoke with him, and he flatly denied the allegations in the posts. We will support the process as he and his former partner settle these matters."

Audrey Griffin had previously made similar allegations of abuse on social media. On Thursday, she wrote in part, "How can someone do ALL of this and get away with it. ... I will tell you how... just be in the NBA and win a game in the bubble. Cinderfella. That's how. Simple."

Finally !Timing is a bit weird or were they just waiting until the season is officially over? With Boylen I never hated on him and didn’t think it was all his fault but obviously he wasn’t good enough to remain the coach of the Chicago Bulls.

AK made the right decision but now this coach hire is more important. It’s time to get someone who is experienced and ready to lead a young team, it will also require Reinsdorf to get his head out of his ass and pay.

Good. Part of me feels like they did this just to prove Cowley wrong. Another part of me feels like they caved into public pressure (look at their social media. Literally every post was litered with "Fire Boylen you cheapskates"

Whatever the reason is - finally. I'll take it. Beggars can't be choosers.

People need to understand the importance of this move. In case you forgot, Boylen

- went 39-84
- suffered a franchise worst 56 point loss at home
- publicly battled players through the media
- fared much worse results than his predecessor Hoiberg
- didn't protect his injured players on the court
- annoyed his own players, opposing coaches and fans by calling egregious timeouts
- was the national laughing stock coach

This is a huge win for the Chicago Bulls franchise.

I don't have a strong opinion on Boylen, but it's good that AK was/is empowered to make this call and wasn't handcuffed by Reinsdorf in the end.

It does make me wonder about the recent press on retaining Boylen for financial reasons. Was it a leak to force Reinsdorf's hand? :-)

This was the obvious move. Boylen was paid nothing and it really hurt the fan base keeping him on. Firing Boylen makes the Bulls way more money than keeping him on does. Reinsdorf may be cheap but he isn’t going to let a cheap coach sink his product when it will hurt all future cash flow.

Now hopefully AK can make a better choice than GarPax did.
