Cowley, Windhorst, and Woj were all wrong about predicting how Chicago would handle coaching. They all had no legitimate insider source, so they just went with the "well chicago is cheap, if I write they'll keep Boylen I'll probably end up looking smart."

Everyone should take any Chicago FO rumors with a grain of salt.

For however secretive the GarPax regime thought it was, they sure did a horrible job hiding the fact that wanted to dump or amnesty Boozer, didn't like Adams or Thibs butting into roster suggestions, hire Hoiberg, draft McDermott, trade Jimmy, and somehow even leaked that Niko kind of deserved what he got (Bobby's punch).

The leaks if anything were a giant red flag. Behind-the-scenes drama is one thing, but being that incapable of hiding your dirty laundry? 96-98 Krause optics all over again, albeit with social media. Maybe it's a crazy conspiracy theory, but I'd sometimes get the feeling they intentionally leaked the negative stuff to shift blame and make themselves look better.

To the press' credit, they were also pretty spot on about everything. "Rumor is that Bulls are looking to dump salary to get under the luxury threshold" (Deng 13, Hinrich 16, etc.) To be fair you didn't have to be an insider to know that.

It may take a while, but I expect that leaks will start happening as more in-person media presence is allowed at the Advocate/UC. The pandemic and complete turnover within the FO leads to the tight ship you have now. It will loosen soon enough as relationships are built between media and Bulls staff.

This news makes me horny.
:o LeBron is 0-7 in game winning/tying FGs in the finals. And is 20/116 or 17% in game winning/tying FGs in the 4th/OT for his career. That's historically bad :o

Can we all agree on “ NOT Marc Jackson”? Jason Williams was on ESPN crying about teams not hiring him...made me want to buy him another motorcycle...

What is wrong with him? I thought that he did a good job, and itvwouldn't hurt to have a nab perimeter coach either.

For the record, I can't stand his commentator personality. I'm genuinely asking.

I really do think there will be less drama for a while. Gar and Pax were very personal, and the FO was very incestuous for over 3 decades under Reinsdorf. When a family business grows into an international billion dollar enterprise, it hurts the guys who helped build it, but you have to move beyond Father & Sons to a more professional structure. The FO was being run like it was 1989. There are nice things about it - some strong player relationships were formed (for a time being atleast: Deng example of a broken one). You can argue they were always good intentions. Inevitably more relationships were broken though.

I really do think the days of personal vendettas and 'handshake' agreements are over for atleast the fore-seeable future. And with that, there's just gonna be a lot less drama. It's kind of impressive but for the last 10 years, the FO created more headlines than their player moves (VDN choking, the Adams firing, the Thibs nuclear fall-out, Deng's spinal tap, Reggie vs the FO, Boylen and his supported antics).

Less gossip, more basketball development please.

The only news that could make me happier than today is if we somehow got the 1st overall pick in the draft. Firing garpax got me to a 9 letting go of boylen brought me to 10. Getting the 1st pick would send me over the edge

The one thing that must happen is the Reinsdorf’s need to give the new guys complete financial support and control, no meddling. I’m not sure how good or bad Paxson was at his job, he likely was getting his strings severely pulled and resources limited. These guys need to be given the keys and left alone.

Decent coach but not worth the baggage he brings.

Those who have read my reactions to all the “Boylen’s Staying” reports will know that one thing I’m not is surprised.

If there’s a story here is why now and not when the bubble closes. I’ll guess that now that some teams seasons are ending, the Bulls want to give Boylen the opportunity to land an assistant job somewhere (Spurs?).

Anyway, glad we can turn this page.

Yeah. Marc Jackson is stuck in 1980's - 90's style basketball mentality. Not what we need.

I think he’d be a dud. Steph and Klay were damn near unstoppable once they got rid of Jackson. The Golden State situation was kind of like ours with Del Negro. We succeeded despite him.

Jackson also had some issues with his anti-lgbtq religious views, his being extorted for an extramarital affair with a stripper, and his treatment/bullying of one players on the team.

Also, Kendrick Perkins is a huge Marc Jackson supporter. Perk can barely string two sentences together...

Are y’all taking about about Mark Jackson (former Warriors coach) or Marc Jackson (former warriors player)?

Yeah I voiced that it was unimportant to make the move until the bubble was over, but me thinks they decided this was the best media cycle for them and their complete PR makeover

Haven't read the whole thread, but I have to give the Bulls credit for keeping their cards to themselves. Reporters who need to write something, were off base. Cowley, in particular, with his "the Bulls don't want to replace Boylen because of money," is kinda exposed for not having very good sources in the Bulls' decision-making process. I think Cowley is entertaining and has some good player sources, but he clearly (and not surprisingly) doesn't have good sources where it really matters.
