I heard yesterday to Gambo and he said that he does not expect Kaminsky and Baynes back. He will be "really suprised" if we pick up the TO on Kaminsky.
IF that is the case we will need to find a couple of bigs in FA, draft or in a trade.
Not sure about Diallo. He probaby out of the team next season too.

Re: 2020 Season/Offseason (FA/Trade) Speculation - the Season Resumes
1) We should sign Saric to a 4-year deal for $40M, team option 4th year. He's gonna get offers of at least the MLE so plan on $10M per year.
2) We should sign Carter to a 3-year deal for $9M, team option 3rd year.
3) On draft day, we should trade Frank, Diallo, Okobo, and #10 pick for a decent veteran who has 1-year left and a future draft pick. Since our outgoing players all have team options they can be waived at no cost by the receiving team. Their aggregate salary is about $8.5M we should be able to get a decent vet that costs up to $11M. This is key because if we keep the #10 pick it will reduce our cap space in 2021.
4) We can sign Baynes to a larger 1-year deal.
5) Use our $10M MLE to sign another veteran or two on one-year deals.
6) Next offseason we would have $33M in cap space but only if we jettison our draft pick for a vet and future pick.
Rubio/Payne/VetMLE
Booker/Carter/VetTrade
Bridges/Oubre/VetMLE
Johnson/Saric/VetMin
Ayton/Baynes/VetMin

I am not sure that would be a surprise if we picked up Frank. Thats 5m for the guy who really wasn't that good. I mean, probably a good teammate but thats around the vet minimum range.
Baynes - my guess a team more ready to win will offer him a better chance to win at his age. Though he would be nice to bring back - not doing a multi year
Pick up options on Carter and Payne for sure
Fun offseason - I mean I see hope and light at the end of the tunnel with continued growth of the players and a smart draft pick and a solid signing or two in FA .

Re: 2020 Season/Offseason (FA/Trade) Speculation - the Season Resumes
I feel like it took until the bubble to figure out how to use Dario. He's a low post player and Ayton is not. Ayton hangs out in the high post area setting screens and attacking the rim while Dario moves around him from the low post to the arc. So many modern 4s are really just wings so punishing that by posting them up is cool imo.
Dave King shared what Dario told him earlier in the bubble. Dario grew up posting up because he was the biggest guy. And also handling the ball because he was the best ball handler and passer. And also shooting because he was the best shooter. So for him doing a little bit of everything is how he feels engaged. When teams have him just standing at the arc waiting to shoot it's hard for him to feel in rhythm.

I'm sorry, but that is F-ing stupid!
We're not going to get upgrades to Baynes or Frank for cheaper or even the same price.
Baynes is the perfect backup 5 and in some ways he is a better fit then Ayton due to spacing. Big guys with toughness that can rebound, defend, and hit the 3 are really rare. We have to keep him.
Frank is so ridiculously under appreciated. We really missed him when he got injured as he provided scoring and spacing off the bench. He's a very versatile 4. I might want him over Saric as I think Frank is tougher.

Maybe our old pal Alex Len, or even an old head like Mahimni. This would have to be someone cheap and willing to be cool with not playing on a lot of nights.

Please no, Alex Len again on the team no.
He has been terrible on the Hawks and Kings this season. And I have nightmares yet remembering him trying to catch passes around the rim.
His signing would not be good for my health.
People will calling for Ayton to be traded so we can start Len after 1 bad game. I can see it now

Downvote.

I'm generally pretty skeptical of valuing players based on how they impact others, but bw made a good point several days ago about Ayton playing better when Baynes was backing him up. If Baynes could stay healthy and hit that 3 consistently, he's easily worth it. I don't understand the idea that another team that is "closer" than us would likely pick him up -- how far away are we, really?
I'm not really a big fan of Baynes's defense, fwiw.
In any case, we definitely need to add a 5 to the group we trotted out in the bubble. Not necessarily a rotation player - more a situational player, 10th man. I'm not sure Baynes is down for that. If we keep Oubre, I see a second unit that looks like this when we have a full roster and a 9-man rotation: Payne/Carter/Pick-a-Starter/Oubre/Saric.
As I've said, the element I'd really like to add to this team is a long big who blocks shots and disrupts passing lanes. I wouldn't mind bringing Baynes back and drafting a third-string 5 or 5/4 with those attributes. But the world is not without solid backup 5's. We won't do better than Baynes with that spot, though... assuming, again, the man can stay healthy.

Yeah, I would bring back all our frontcourt players except Diallo. It's gonna be a long season and injuries are everywhere.

Next year will be Baynes' age 34 season. His game is so collision-based that i think it's pretty likely he continues to be hurt as he ages.

Re: 2020 Season/Offseason (FA/Trade) Speculation - the Season Resumes
Trading Ayton before the max extension that he is going to request would be the smartest long time decision
If he gets that contract , Phoenix is going to be a treadmill team the next 4 years,
Please be clever and trade him, and get some help for Dbook.
Otherwise Book is gone .
Sorry to be that guy, but IMO , Ayton isn´t and never will be a Positive player.
He is bad mix of Vucevic and Whiteside type of player not even a Nurkic level.
Trade him before everyone else realise that.

Re: 2020 Season/Offseason (FA/Trade) Speculation - the Season Resumes
Saric did really well in the bubble, So I'd be willing to bring him back on a 1-2 YR DEAL for around 7-8 million, But no more than that. As these 8 bubble games is just too small a sample size to warrant more than that. The problem is still that he's been incredibly inconsistent over his career. And whilst he has been very impressive in the bubble, As BW mentioned, We really only played maybe two teams with their full starting rotation. A lot of the teams that we played against either had the majority of their top players out or simply resting.
So all I'm saying is that we should exercise caution, Still hope for the best and be very happy with what we've seen so far ( in the bubble) but not let those 8 games overtly influence our offseason overview and direction. Now as for Baynes and Kaminsky. Baynes, I'd look to bring back for around 8-10 tops, On a 1 year deal. Kaminsky can walk. I get that he's a very nice, good teammate. But let's be honest, He's not at all athletic, Is a defensive liability, and is even more inconsistent than Saric has been over his time here. To be clear, I'm not against bringing him back ( on a veteran's minimum) and hoping that he figures things out. But he's currently not even worth the 5 million in cap space that he'll occupy!
For the season, He only averaged 9 points/ 4 rebounds/ 0.4 blocks ( For a 7 fter)!!!
And only shot around 33-34% from three. There'll be plenty of better, more productive options both in the draft and in free agency that would offer much better rebounding, defense and overall impact. If we're really going to be serious about competing, Then we have to move on from inconsistent, unathletic, streaky players. And fill our bench with actual higher quality depth that we can actually depend upon to be productive. Again, The way that I see it,
- Saric can definitely be brought back ( in a backup role and for between 7-8 million)but no more than that.
- Baynes can come back, But for no more than 8-10 million ( 1 yr deal only).
- Kaminsky ( Team option declined) willing to bring back only on a veterans minimum, Untilmhe shows defensive improvement and real consistency.
- Cam ( option picked up).
- BOTH Diallo and Okobo can go.
So for sure bring back Saric/ Baynes * (If possible). Look to the draft and free agency to address our needs for a backup combo guard/ shooting guard. And also a versatile defensive 3 and D power forward/ center. Cam can replace Okobo, Vassell or Okoro or Lewis or Riller, etc. Can be our backup 1/2. And one of Toppin/ Okungwu/ Smith/ Reed/ Poku can replace Diallo / Kaminsky.
In free agency, We can add one more big to backup ( or replace Baynes)? Any of : Nerlens Noel, Kyle O'quinn, Dwight Howard, Alex Len, Mason Plumlee??? Should do for our needs. And then look to add someone like Jae Crowder, Thabo Sefolosha, Jeff Green or James Ennis perhaps will do for backup 2/3 depth. Then roll with it, And head into 2021 free agency with maximum cap flexibility.

They were competing for a playoff spot and missed out by technicality... They have the same wins as those vying for that spot.
Keep the chemistry as is... Add a big man who can spot up 3s and slide as center.... Off the bench... Or starter.
Bridges and Johnson is a good combo wing rotation with Ayton, Booker and Rubio.
Do not change the main starting lineup. Improve on the bench... Payne, Carter and Saric are great together... Just need a big man to support them... But also start against big front courts like Lakers.
Basically ypgrade Kaminsky with someone who can defend and rebound... Baynes is too old nowm
I am about keeping Saric, Carter and Payne - preferably all on one year deals. SAric will be the toughest as I can see a team offering him a three year deal. So if need be - probably okay with it something like 3/20 in that range. Using the capulator - doesn't mess up next year too badly
Baynes on a one year deal - that might be okay
Unless I messed up capulator - the Suns could have around 30m of cap space in the 2021 offseason even signing a guy like Saric to a multi year deal this offseason.
Seeing the names listed - Bogdan or Bjelica would be two guys to look at. If the Suns do not pick up Franks option and do not sign Baynes - they could probably get. But that takes you out of the running that next summer. I think the Suns need a shooter / scorer off the bench.
I still think the Suns need one more year to grow - -so be smart, have the team get better, smart signings this offseason, one year deals and keep options open. I mean, in lieu of Baynes and Kaminsky, could they get Millsap on a one year deal for 12-15m of cap space. Granted, that still leaves a hole at the 2G. Granted, the right player this year is better than hoping for a player next year.
Did you add our draft pick against the capulator? What would be the difference between one of the top 4 spots and 10 or 11?
I think 11 is a good possibility since the Spurs always win the lottery when they participate.

Are they better? Maybe. But we don't know that now. Let's see these teams both play healthy. I think a lot of people are so hung up on the past few years that they just assume the team still is awful.

I'd keep Diallo given he's making the min.
Maybe we go after a vet like Milsap or Marvin Williams to replace Baynes.

I know this is extremely unlikely, but if LA loses this season, if I'm the Suns, I'm making a full court press for him. We could move Ayton and our pick to make cap room.
I'm not ready to give up on Ayton, but if we can convince AD that Booker is the better long term player to be around instead of an aging LeBron and C-level role players, it could change everything.
Davis has to know that he can't do it alone as we saw in New Orleans. When LeBron leaves the Lakers, the losses will come until/if they find another FA to sign.
