I agree with you about the money part of it. Doesn't matter. However, I don't feel bad, at all, not even a little bit, for Boylen. Simply because he deserved to be fired because he sucked complete ass at his job in nearly every aspect of it. Also, the players didn't seem to like playing for him either and it showed on the court and off.

Kept saying basketball reasons on why he fired Boylen but would of been nice if he went a bit into detail. Say something since it’s a press conference about Boylens firing. Then didn’t like how he kept using the word “process”, I hate that word and all it means is he’s buying time. Must of used that word like 20x. Also AK doesn’t seem great with talking to the media, hopefully Eversley will be better with that.

Using the word “process” can mean buying time. But it can also mean “go suck eggs, I’m not telling you squat.” I think this is the latter.

One thing has been clear so far under AK, and that is the media isn’t being fed anything. At least not yet. And frankly, I’m one of those fans who hopes it stays that way. I don’t believe I’m entitled to anything from management beyond competence.
What’s the point of that though? When they have a press conference he should provide some information. I’m not saying to tell us exactly which coach he wants to hire or to say Boylen sucks but at least something more than this. He sounded like a preprogrammed robot using the same words. Again Eversley will probably be dealing with the media more so I’m guessing he’s more smooth with answering questions to the media.

The point of it is to keep things to himself. Particularly regarding a sequence that is incomplete. And in my opinion that is how it should be. I’m far more concerned with the quality of the decision ultimately made than I am with breadcrumbs.

Don’t worry, there will be times when he’s more forthcoming. Like when he actually hires the new HC, or completes a trade, etc.

Actually, money has nothing to do with it but "basic humanity" does explain why I really wanted Boylen out.

Like, to give background, I've never really argued that strongly for firing a coach before. Del Negro was a bad coach, but he also got assaulted. I guess I wanted Fred gone, but I think he was basically a good guy, just not a good coach.

Boylen is plain and simple not a good guy in the way that Hoiberg is. He got his job by kneecapping Hoiberg and being a politician, and then started his run by publicly humiliating his players.

He acted like a boorish jerk to players, opponents, fans and the media, and apparently various other people within the Bulls organization. In this respect, his tenure here was very much like his tenure at Utah, which left that program in shambles. That is, it's not like it's just some isolated case where he got mad and did something dumb. There's a track record going back a long way of him, frankly, treating people badly, overstepping bounds, and being nasty, embarrassing, or both.

I mean, I don't wish him dead or anything, but he's not a guy we should spend much time feeling bad for either. Not a good coach, and not a good guy either.

Yea this is about the 5th time woj or shams has made kc look clueless to bulls affairs and he supposed to be the insider. This not the worst though the worst was when kc reported deng wouldn't be traded and woj bombs a deng trade like a day later lol

Woj and Shams make everyone look clueless. Those 2 get the first scoop about 99% of the time.

Obviously the national guys break things generally more often than the local beat people, but I'm not sure why this is coming up here. Neither Woj nor Shams broke the Boylen firing. The Bulls managed to keep it to themselves until issuing the press release.

I agree and add to that.

I want the team to win games. A GM who is undisciplined, who lets info leak, who gets emotional, etc. is probably going to do that less often than one who is disciplined and focused on the long term. Those that enjoy gossip may not like this approach but its a massive sign for optimism with me. AK doesn't look overwhelmed by the job at this point. Looks more like a cool customer.

What is wrong with him? I thought that he did a good job, and itvwouldn't hurt to have a nab perimeter coach either.

For the record, I can't stand his commentator personality. I'm genuinely asking.

In the Bay Area, he has no fans. He is a religious freak who tried to force his players to attend his church, battled with management and is universally (out here) disliked. Also, I agree. I can't stand his know-it-all commentator personality.

Anybody else think ak and eversly put out false information of keeping boylen to see how the fan base and Chicago media would react to it?

Its really strange how just last week we had guys prepping the fan base for a another season of boylen then top of the morning without a inside scoop he is gone.

There's no reason to think they would have to run a leak. Inaction was already every Bulls fan's greatest fear.

Hey all. Nice to be back on the board. Mad props to everyone who held it down for months with no news whatsoever.

The issue was always whether or not JR would agreed to pay Boylen after he was fired.

It appears that they worked it out.

Boylen fired, Lauri free to play. Or will he...

People have sympathy for nice people in bad situations. Boylen has come across as an ass on multiple occasions. No one feels bad for the ****. I also don't think Boylen is out of coaching. He'll land on someones staff as an assistant.

I think Lauri is the big winner here. I hope the new coach finds a way to use him correctly.

OK, all the signs point to Boylen being a total Pr**k! Is that true? I don't know for sure, but I see a lot of smoke. If I knew it for a fact, I'd be jumping for joy dancing on his grave. But I don;t, so I wont.

Instead, I'll be "nice" and go with what Trm3 (and others) have said.

Good-bye Jimbo, you wont be missed!

Let’s see what Lauri does now. His excuse was Boylen, now that he’s gone he can’t use that one anymore.
