Depends on who you ask. I remember a few years ago Tyson Chandler talked about how Paul was a great leader.

CP3 made his own bed to lay in by basically forcing a trade to be with Harden. Then they clearly weren't an ideal fit and neither handled conflict together particularly well. Just interesting to hear him basically admit they aren't on speaking terms really.

So never mind they were the best team in the league that year and had on of the better seasons in league history?
It's been damn near four years since CP left your Clippers and you're still trying to spin the narrative

Harden and Paul weren't particularly close before they teamed up. They joined for the purpose of winning a ring and nearly made it happen.

Then Westbrook became available and Harden saw the opportunity to bring his friend to Houston and Chris Paul was the casualty.
Chris Paul was understandably bitter because he left LA to join a contender in Houston but ended up in OKC. But as he alluded to in the clip, I think both guys have moved on.
I know the basic facts aren't as scandalous as some seem to want/need them to be but It is what it is.

All of this doesn't mean they were an ideal fit on or off the court. It just means the incredible talent was there.

I know it's hard to let go considering how obviously perturbed you were when it all first happened and EVERYONE was screaming what a horrible fit they would be before the season began.
But given what we all know now, honestly you may be the ONLY one still pushing the "bad fit" narrative.

BTW, I like how you tried to throw "off the court" in there, like anyone gives a damn about that

This thread was literally about their off court relationship. Why would I need to be intellectually dishonest to say I was referring to that as well? Seems like a weird thing to nitpick. I think on court the mix was weird too despite that they had a good run.

Nothing wrong with what he said. They’ll talk if they have to shoot a commercial or play on the same team(Team USA or All-Star game) strictly business-related conversation, but beyond that, they don’t have to pretend to be BFF’s. I can totally relate. I have a good working relationship with a lot of my co-workers, but doesn’t mean that I want to hang out with them outside of work, it’s always business, not personal.
Thanks for all the great memories, LeBron! The show must go on! #Heatnation

where did he say that? Also, how can anyone say they weren't a good fit? That 17-18 Rockets team was an amazing team

Why is anyone entertaining this?

James Harden's teammates love him. We're constantly signing players just because they used to play with him. If you play with him, you see his exhaustion, and you see how hard it is for this team to win without him, you just understand. Chris Paul and Dwight Howard are less than 1% of the teammates he's ever played with. Howard is a loser (great guy, but he wanted to play in the post rather than win a title back then) and Paul just can't get over the fact that it's better long term for the Rockets to have Westbrook than Paul. It's really that simple.

Paul will age better but he's 4 years older than Russ so that's moot. Russ and Harden will get along. What were the Rockets supposed to do?

EVEN IF Westbrook were a slightly lesser player than Paul, it makes most sense.

Why would he be angry? Just because the Thunder was not a situation he liked we should have shackled James Harden's prime with this problem?

What about the fact that Harden values 1 title in Houston over 5 titles on a superteam? That he's loyal AF to the Rockets even though he's not from Texas? Should we tell his best friend to f off? Or should we take the offense advice from Paul - a guy who by Harden's grace sniffed the WCF for the first time in his career and has never been able to orchestrate a more prolific offense than Harden in his all time great career? Paul's peak is not close to Harden's.

Be realistic peeps. Paul is an all time great PG at the end his career, but this is all some made up sh*t in his head that probably was f*cking with even while we were pursuing a title. He needs to get over it, and so does the media. I hope the dude wins a title some day, he deserves it.

Not gonna be this one.

In all the hullabaloo about "fit" between James Harden and Chris Paul nobody, I repeat NOBODY, was talking about off the court. The entire conversation was centered around them both being "ball dominant" guards accustomed to having the ball in their hands.

No one cared whether they hung out as best buddies off the court.
In fact, Paul even mentions their differences in that mini docu-series he did about his decision to join the Rockets. He noted that he's a married guy with kids and mostly a home body (outside of bowling and basketball) while Harden was young, rich, and single.

Again, you've been grinding this particular axe since Paul left LA. I get it.
It's just odd that now nearly four seasons later you're still trying convince yourself that you were right despite all the evidence to the contrary.

Not being liked isn't necessarily a bad thing. Sometimes you gotta be demanding and it can come off the wrong way to the sensitive ones.

Chris Paul is the one coming off as insensitive in this clip. He's just lost in his emotions and he doesn't know how to express himself.

So he says we don't have to be the greatest of friends or enemies, but uses an example of Harden not wishing Paul's daughter a happy birthday. Tbh, I don't get the logic here...

Sounds like an ex trying to figure out why he/she is no longer with that person.

Dude got asked a question about someone he doesn't care about. He doesn't want to attack him personally or say anything good. Seems pretty normal to me...

Yes and we're supposed to disregard his response?

If he really didn't care, he wouldn't come off expressing his emotions a bit too much with whatever the hell he was trying to tell us.

Of course there are emotions. He went to Houston to win a championship and had the most successful season of his career.
Then when Westbrook became available he initially thought Russ would be joining him and Harden. When it became obvious that he would have to be part of the deal he was hurt.
So it makes sense there would be feelings.
I think he just wants to make it clear that they don't hate each other either like some people believe.

I mean even if I was traded away from my best friend to a different team, I'd have a pretty easy time moving on for $40 million a year. The trade was pushed more by Fertitta than anybody as this wasn't a typical Morey trade.

Is it Harden, or is it the guy who has famously had issues with teammates at virtually every stop.

Let's ask Blake Griffin and DeAndre Jordan.

Harden had issues with McHale, Dwight, Ariza, CP3 and I'm sure there are a handful of his current teammates that don't like him.

It's just a matter of time before he has issues with Westbrook too.
