Scoring has been up all over the place in the bubble. Think it's a combination of no fans and better shooting sightlines. He was awful with the Bulls and he'll probably be awful again.

I would take Dunn over Payne. But Payne is better than Sato.

Your hatred of Sato is clear and understood but Payne is not better than Sato.

Rather have a current age John Paxson back in uniform than have Cam Payne back

Well honestly both suck ass. But I’ll take bubble Cameron Payne over Sato if I was forced to. Sato has to be one of the worst bull free agent signings I’ve seen. He needs to be traded ASAP. Waste of 10 million cap space.

He was obviously not ready when he was with the Bulls and there's no way to put a player in storage to wait until he gets ripe.

Looking back is really easy for internet GMs, looking forward is a lot harder and why the people in those jobs change so often

Guys really don't figure it out until @ 25 in the NBA unless they really have IT

It's still a mans league even if boys are playing in it now.

Payne - Lottery pick who was bouncing around. It hopefully changed for him when he was on the Raptos squad last year - then got cut and waived by them and then watched them win the title. He probably thinks he could have been part of that and missed out.

Looks to me like that may have motivated him to get back in the gym, change his ways and found a way to stick in PHX

big difference to coaches in a lottery pick who expects playing time vs a guy just begging for any playing time.
because you earn that kind of playing time

Just a hot shooting streak in a weird situation, his advance stats for PHO and CLE were still pretty bad.

I agree. I don't know why we let him go. He could score.

Cred killer right there.

Maybe so traumatized by the Payne experience that you blocked it out and don’t remember. Anyone on this board is an upgrade over the Payne we had.

He held on too long if anything.

It's already gone with the deep hatred of Sato lol. Sato was very mediocre and did have a disappointing season last year but idk what he did to deserve this much hatred.

He and Jabari Parker were the two of the worst players I've ever seen put on a Bulls uniform.. I wish him well, and hope he succeeds. But he was so bad here.

The problem is not time related, it's staff related.
We have a short and incompetent staff.

Thats why we need a guy like Atkinson at the helm. He gets more out of less. Even as much as we for some reason rag on Thibs, he always got more out of less too. Nate looked great with him, Augustin who was picked off the scrap heap, Bellinelli, hell he even made John Lucas the 3rd useful.

Our development has been piss poor, probably bottom of the league

Grod says the Bulls staff is too short and you suggest Akinson? Guy is only 6' 1" which is a shrimp by NBA standards.

Nah... good for him if he has finally started putting together, but based on what we saw it wasn't going to happen in a reasonable time frame for the Bulls.

It probably all depends on the team and the circumstances:

From 2011 until 2015 The "Thibs" system was somehow able to make any PG look really good. Payne missed that window.

this thread is really a low point in yearning for a player on another team

I really hope teams start using the G-League to develop players long term like the MLB does. Every player may not be ready out the gate, but you should take that time to develop them until they're ready to take that leap. We see so many players with raw physical tools who never get a chance to really figure it out.
