BULL****!!! In 1992, the Blazers beat the Lakers in the 1st Round. And Game 4 where the Blazers closed out the series was played in Las Vegas instead of LA was because of the Rodney King riots. I was a teenager when that happened so I remember when it happened.

On Courtside last night, they also said the last time the Blazers beat the Lakers in the playoffs was 1977.

So weird how so many can get this wrong. All you have to do is a quick internet search of the 1992 playoffs and see the Blazers defeating the Lakers in the 1st Round.

Congrats on a good win, told ya'll Nurkic would be a catalyst (even though Dame was the stud..AGAIN). Shut them Laker fans up again in game 2, Good Luck !!

Blazers took a game...that makes me very happy!

I F'ing hate the Lakers. It brings me great joy to see LeBron lose.

I have to imagine that the lack of homecourt crowd plays at least a part in this series.

It only takes one wrong story cuz everyone just copies others rather than writing their own story.

I was very surprised by whiteside today. He was impactful and may be a matchup advantage for us in this series.

Any word on Collins’s recovery time? Having him would seemingly be huge in this series

I remember the Blazers beating LAL in 92 during the riots.

Chris Webber is a horrible announcer. That guy was talking about something and then did a 180 without even taking a breath. I don't recall what he was saying now though.

Great dude, but you’d think for a #1 pick and all time great, he’d have more actual basketball perspective to offer. If I didn’t grow up with him, I’d think he was another ESPN fanalyst.

Rewatching the game on TNT and the Lakers challenge on the LeBron blocking call. They overturn the call after reviewing the video. LeBron is clearly still sliding his right foot over when Whiteside goes for the And1. BS!!!

Even if his feet were set he was still clearly sliding his body under Whiteside. Sadly we are going to have to beat the lakers and the refs this series. Whiteside’s shift in the fourth qtr was the catalyst, gave Dame the chance to get in transition and do what he does. If Hassan can be a presence for us inside it will be huge in this series because the lakers really lack consistent 3pt shooting. They won’t shoot that poorly all series but I also expect our offense to perform better as well.

Besides Whiteside having less motivation than Veruka Salt in a sugar shortage, he’s simply looking terribly out of shape since the restart and I’m guessing now getting a little bit of steam back under his legs.

I’ll stay off the General Board so I don’t break anyone who thinks the Lakers have a chance

I said la in 6 before it started and that’s still what I think has a good chance of happening. But of course I’d love Portland in any amount of games

I was thinking they should maybe try twin towers vs LA, with Whiteside and Nurk, and were kind of forced to due to injury and foul trouble this game, and it seems to work pretty good. Whiteside did have a good game.

haven't heard anything. But he reportedly has inflammation from a high ankle sprain. Sometimes, that's a really long recovery

he would certainly help depth, but I don't think he'd come up "huge"; he's not that good. The way the whistles were blowing for AD, Zach would have been in just as much foul trouble as Gabriel, maybe even more. The idea of having 6 extra fouls to give has some value. But that's offset by the possibility of the Lakers being in the bonus early every quarter

saying he's horrible may be too kind. Any time any announcer makes you think "Reggie Miller would be better" you've entered the 8th circle of hell

He and the announcer obviously spent no time researching the Blazers. The mistake that got me shaking my head was that Stotts was Carlisle's defensive coordinator and grew to learn offense to be a head coach. The opposite was the truth. Stotts was Carlisle's offensive coordinator and Dwayne Casey was the defensive coordinator.
