LOL I wish that's all it would take. Imagine anyone giving value for Tobias now.

The only possible non-awful Tobias trade I could possibly see would be to SAS for LMA plus whatever salary filler they choose.

That's pretty awful. Do we need to get even bigger?

If there's one guy who could see an upside with Tobias and get it out of him, it's Pop. And apparently Pop is sticking around for now. And LMA is getting up there. It's at least possible.

We weren't going to win a chip anyways. At least the shambolics will entertain us for the entire offseason

VDT wrote:Butler had asked out and was not too polite about it so his value was naturally very low. Dont bring Richardson in the discussion because that is not related to Brand. Had Butler wanted to go to a team with cap space we wouldnt get anything. But the trade itself is also problematic. For one it killed the team chemistry. Last year, like this year, was seen as a failure save from the Toronto series which might have also been a fluke. The team was dysfunctional from last year and in fact the regular season wins were fewer compared to the season before. Moreover, when a team trades and gives assets for a star they generally have an understanding that he will sign a contract the following year with his new team (other than obvious exceptions like Leonard). So either Brand never made such an agreement or he regretted the trade or the team he built was so dysfunctional that Butler had no interest in staying any more. Whatever it is, it is mostly on Brand.
Once again I'll stress that we LOST NOTHING in the Butler trade and easily won it. Cov and Dario aren't even on the Timberwolves anymore!!..and we got some good production from Jimmy and he wanted to move on!!..it is what it is. At the end of the day the man is 30, missed quite a few games with injury when he was here and also refused to shoot threes...and you think Tobias is a bad fit with Ben and Jo? SMH.
Shamet is at least a useful roleplayer and a first round pick could net us another one. How useful is Harris on that contract? Jerry West valued him at a round 20 mil. But Jerry West wants to win, Brand ties to keep his job as long as possible. The stats you cite are for basically a year and some months in 2018-2019 and it was not 45% but around 42%. Never before or after did he approach these numbers. Harris is good for 17-18 ppg at about average efficiency while not contributing defensively or being a play maker. He is also not a real fit in the offense. He wants the ball in his hands to get his offense but is not very good with it. Ideally he should do that on a bad team that will allow it. If you have any aspirations you dont give 35 mil for that. It is a terrible contract and the whole league knows that.
No Shamet was an average player who couldn't defend...and the pick we gave them hasn't amounted to anything special. The contract may be on the high side but like I said previously he was in demand and had other teams knocking at his door...so he was always gonna get paid whether he or somewhere else. Folks bash Tobias but what is the alternative exactly? oops I forgot the "forum GMs" over here don't have any...they just bash Tobias and can't name a better option.
Sure, the fact that the team needs to have Milton or Burks run the playoff offense while their is a clear redundancy in the 4 and 5 positions is Browns fault. Or the fact that there is no perimeter creation is Brown's fault.
Oh so a GM shouldn't expect his coach to get one of his players TO SHOOT A DAMN JUMPER? Is that what you're saying?
Brand is a terrible GM who always went for the low hanging fruits, overpaying mediocre players as if there was some competition and the results show that. He has spent all the cap space and assets, has burdened the team with negative contracts that will need further assets to move and the team is completely dysfunctional, the chemistry destroyed and they win less games than 2 years ago.
No Brand is you and others scapegoat!!..that's what he is because you expect him to build a super team overnight and also draft studs late in every draft!!..because GM's around the league are obviously doing that with regularity and YOU, a philly fan on a forum, have all the answers right?

Sixers management has a prior track record of burner accounts. Just throwing that out there.
Another possibility: Tobias to Chicago for Satoransky, Felicio, and Thad Young. Probably have to add 21, though.

If I'm GM I'd use this roster and picks to try and get Levine, Beal and KAT tbh!!..All of which are not happy where they are at. I'm tired of this whole roster now...we have the assets to blow it up and really build something special IF we're smart about it.

Kat would have to be in an Embiid deal, and I'm only doing that if we're getting D'lo for one of our bad contracts.
Maybe like, Kat/D'Lo/Spellman for Embiid/Harris
Al for Harrison Barnes (i couldn't find a way to make the Hield finances balance + this probably makes more sense for the kings. Horrible contract swap)
Justin Holiday - MLE
Russell
Richardson
Barnes
Simmons
Towns
Holiday/Spellman/Shake/Thybulle/OKC1st
Maybe find a way to turn Richardson + OKC 1st + into another impact player. Jrue?

One small trade I would make would be our 21st pick to Portland for Anfernee Simons. He can't get on the floor out there with Dame, Cj and Trent getting all the backcourt minutes. Throw in Zhaire Smith if you have to.

Maybe Washington will want to get out of Wall’s contract and will take either Horford or Harris for him.
Surely he can’t do any worse than them.
Trade the one they don’t want for cap space and sign the Morris Twins.
Wall
Thybulle
Morris
Simmons
Embiid

We are trying to evaluate Bran here. The fact that Butler wanted to go Miami, that didnt have cap space and ultimately had to send Richardson is not credited to Brand. This is just luck.THe essence of the matter is that Brand send assets to get Butler and then he didnt manage to keep him or didnt want to keep him because he regretted the trade. Either case looks bad.

Yu judge players by their contracts. Shamet on his contract is a player you want to have, Harris on his contract is not. At least if you want to win. You saw Harris in these two games. Who wanted Harris? Harris has been passed from team to team for years. His last team (clippers) offered him 20 mil. If there is an idiot GM out there willing to give him the max you let him do it. The whole notion that Harris is some hot commodity that we need to have no matter what is ridiculous. He is a mediocre player that doesnt really fit the team and who is paid a ridiculous amount of money. All these are on Brand.
PhillyPhilly wrote:Oh so a GM shouldn't expect his coach to get one of his players TO SHOOT A DAMN JUMPER? Is that what you're saying?![]()
The team needs someone to initiate the offense in the half court and someone that can create his shot from the perimeter and create for others at the same time. Ideally, but not necessarily this would be the same person. The Sixers are paying a ridiculous amount of money for their bigs and they have no one on the perimeter. That's not on the coach to fix, that's on the GM who has paid Horford and Harris all these money and they are doing nothing.
PhillyPhilly wrote:No Brand is you and others scapegoat!!..that's what he is because you expect him to build a super team overnight and also draft studs late in every draft!!..because GM's around the league are obviously doing that with regularity and YOU, a philly fan on a forum, have all the answers right?![]()
Brand is two years now and the Sixers situation is getting worse by the year, when even doing nothing would result to improvements due to the age of the main Sixers players in 2018. As i said, he has no idea what he wants to do or what style the team is supposed to have and always goes for the lowest hanging fruit, overpaying for mediocre players that no one really cares about. I think there are a lot of people on realgm that could have done what Brand did. Not because they are good at Gming but because what Brand did is terrible.
