Re: Official 2020 NBA Draft Thread
What? I legit haven't heard a single thing about a draft, the lottery, or nothing. Who are we taking? Can we trade Bamba during the game tonight in a draft deal?
Edit: oh it's just the lottery, not that actual draft.

jonbob17 wrote:That UNC had bad players as the reason Cole Anthony was awful last year is such flawed logic. They are still UNC, and they got fine supporting players, even if they weren't the 2019 Duke team.
Most of the non-big name traditional players don't have a bunch of 50 recruits surrounding their scorers. Did Trae Young or Ja Morant have elite talent around them? Seems like just an excuse for Anthony and especially Roy Williams.
I would still bet on Cole Anthony, you can't ignore the prep tape either.
Oh absolutely wasn't saying it as an excuse just an observation, that team was pretty poor for UNC standards. UNC as a team team had 2 players shoot over 34% from 3, Anthony & the other guard Robinson. The starting 5 that started most games shot 28% 25% 0% 36 % & 34%. That's some G league stuff and would make sense as to why Anthony drove into a crowded paint most nights.
I would agree that his prep tape was wild and if he slides to 15 I wouldn't mind the pick.
A scoring guard.. never heard of one.

Re: Official 2020 NBA Draft Thread
It's cliche as hell, but I'm still on the Nesmith train.
- Good physical profile for a 3 or 2. And for playing defense. 6'6, 6'10 wingspan, 20 yrs old.
- Sharpshooter.
- Has a little bit of that T Ross athleticism.
- I see a ton of passing potential just by learning and passing within a team system. As he's quick, but doesn't hurry.
- Very crafty attacker. He has floaters and pseudo-hooks, plus plenty of tough finishes in half-court traffic.
- He's really self-aware on when to shoot or attack, and how to play off the ball.
For instance, he sees a shorter matchup, he'll push it down closer to the basket, and get a bucket.
For instance, he sees a slow close-out, he'll calmly use his length and get into a flawless shooting motion.
For instance, being a sharpshooter is also negated if you suck at being off the ball. But Nesmith doesn't have this problem at all, instead being smart and chasing opportunities off the ball.
- If he becomes a 3.1 3PTM shooter for ORL, I see that as a pressure valve opening up ORL's offense, and giving more confidence to other players. I see him becoming a dangerous piece in a Vooch offense. And him and T Ross make the team cheaper, pushing leverage onto Fournier to extend/re-sign at a good value to ORL. I love Fournier staying his last year, too, so that we get a look at a potential 2.6 3 PTM shooter (Fournier), 2.6 3PTM shooter (Ross), 3.1 3PTM shooter (Nesmith), and 1.5 3 PTM shooter (Okeke). I also see Gary Clark (and Ennis/Aminu) seeping in some of JI's minutes to add more 3's with AG's 1.6 3 PTM's. The team weirdly becomes shooting-orientated! And Fultz and Vooch's best atmosphere for killing it!
- I do see not much point forward, iso scoring potential in Nesmith yet, as with earlier 2's such as Donovan Mitchell or Brad Beal. Handle is not as proven.
- I saw a shot release that also looked a little slow at times too, which was a big scare. But both his height and ability to get free is great. And he knows how to attack off of the close-out, too.

Rooting for Twolves and GSW to slip in the draft..... it may be more enticing for them to trade a 4-10 pick for AG+- #15 than a top 3 pick.

Ducklett wrote:There is quite a bit of smoke that Cole Anthony is dropping down into our range. I think if he is within striking distance you have to make a move to get him. He could be the MPJ/SGA/etc of this class. If you go back to the draft night thread I made post after post about trading for MPJ when he was available at 13-14, and I am getting a similar feeling about Anthony.
I would take Anthony in a heartbeat at 15. The team makeup didn't suit him at UNC and he played with a bum shoulder for a good portion of it. The quality is there for all to see. The pedigree is good, the attitude is what we need, the maturity is there, the work ethic is there, the talent and craft are both high ceiling.

Knicks got screwed in the lottery. Minnesota might get the top pick. AG for James Johnson and swap picks.

I remember Boston really wanted Bamba during the draft and was rumored to be offering Brown.MartinsIzAfraud wrote:Husky1 wrote:Would anyone here trade Bamba to Boston for Langford and pick 14?? I would

Re: Official 2020 NBA Draft Thread
This is good news for us I think both Minny and GS want AG.
Fine print disclaimer for Fultz:
I am high on Markelle Fultz. Yes I understand he is not perfect and needs to shoot more and better and turn the ball over less. I would really like to see him play one more year… and I did and he sucks time to move on.

Re: Official 2020 NBA Draft Thread
Golden State officially picking 2nd, but Edwards will likely be off the board.
Would they move that pick to Orlando?
Gordon and Bamba for Wiggins and 2?

Re: Official 2020 NBA Draft Thread
So how realistic is it to try for a trade with AG and #2 as the main pieces?

You think Minny would give up #1 for AG though? Seems unlikely... Would have been more likely if they were #4 or something.

I guess it comes down to: who do you need to get to #2 to draft?

I'd be comfortable taking LaMelo or Wiseman there and trading Fultz or Vucevic/Bamba away frankly.
But I don't think Weltman and Hammond are willing to shake it up that much.

Who knows. It’s possible but part of me feels like the warriors or more likely but I feel like you have to really like the prospects. This team needs scoring badly

Edwards if he's there. Ball or Wiseman if he's not.
Use trades to balance the rest of the roster.
Who cares about who is already here? None of them are relevant anyway.
