Seems very Carlos Boozer’ish to me - and empty stat’ish

Would rather stay all in on PJ at the 4 spot who has much more 2 way potential.

If the GSW’s can’t find a suitable trade partner for the #2 pick, and knowing they want to compete next season, could they shock everyone and take Toppin #2?

He’s an older rookie, likely ready to contribute next season more than Edwards, Ball and especially Wiseman and suits that run and gun/shoot from all over the court Warriors style of play.

And with great defenders like Thompson and Green they could cover his defensive shortfalls.

Curry - Thompson - Wiggins - Green - Toppin

Seems like he'll be a productive offensive player. Although his style doesn't project to be a number one option, he is very athletic with a good offensive feel and can shoot.

If we pick obi I can definitely live with it. I just hope doing so would move us back in the draft so we can get another player. Outside of the top 3 prospects obi is up next in this draft imo.

People underate Toppin because he's 22. However he is going to be a digital combine freak imo and could easily be our pick. He is basically big enough, skilled enough, and athletic enough to check the boxes especially since he is an above average shooter for a 4 or 5. Im all in on Toppin!

Don't know anything about him, but I can see the Jedi jokes coming so I'm all for it.

I've got a really strong feeling that ESPN's top 3 of Edwards/Wiseman/Ball does not resemble the majority of NBA draft boards. We're going to see some big surprises if people get programmed to anticipate those three as the locked-in top of the class. In a way it's sort of genius on ESPN's part, sell the story of an 'obvious' trio and then make the Pikachu face when the wide-open draft ends up creating a wide difference of opinion among scouts. Lots of grist for the take mill. You can even convince the fans of teams 4 thru whatever that they got an obvious top 3 talent (but in reality no one knows, it's a crap shoot draft).

Toppin, Hayes and Halliburton all have a shot at being picked earlier than expected.

I like what Obi does, and I feel like the force is strong with him, but I don't see a good enough fit with him and PJ.

He hasn't shown any real defensive ability and I'm worried that he'd be abused down low due to his lack of size

Agreed.

I wonder if he would have the Kaminsky effect: For every point he scores he gives 1.5 points back resulting in a net negative impact.

For those of you worried about Balls lack of defensive ability this guy is as bad or even worse on that end.

I know we are in the age of best player available, but we already have PJ who looks like he could be a very good player and I don't see how those two play together well

If he’s the pick, I can’t help but feel that means either PJ or Miles is gone.

He will definitely get abused not unlike most rookies on defense until they learn team defense and add size to their often thin frames.

I think he has the motor and drive to improve on that end of the floor. He will need to bulk up something fierce. But again, that takes drive and commitment. The dude is highly competitive and super entertaining.

Hornets fans will love him.

First surprise of the draft will be Hornets passing on Wiseman to pick Toppin.

Toppin was a bad defender as a 22 year old freak athlete playing against Atlantic 10 competition. I think its a fairly safe bet that hes just going to be a bad defender.

His defense is consistently, inexcusably bad.

Never trust a top athlete who can't effect the defensive end on a regular basis.
