Lou_23, you're from Spain, what are your thoughts on Sergi Martinez?
He's a guy I've been eyeing in the 2nd round.
His shooting percentages suck, but his release as a setshooter is ridiculously quick. And he's a big-bodied F with decent defense.
If everything clicks, he could be a strong 4th or 5th starter with a two-way game. In the very least, looks like a non-exploitable defender that can be one of the 3 guys you bring off the bench in a playoff series. Love his jumbo-wing size at 6'8" 220+ pounds, too.

Still raw, he was a PF until two years ago. Now he is trying to be a SF because he is a little bit small to be a PF.
Strong, good rebounder, good IQ, decent handle, good touch near the rim.
Problems with his shoot, but you can see some progression the last year.
He can be an option as a long-term project (3? years) with the last second round picks, it all depend in his evolution as a SF.

Interesting. I suppose he can be a guy we can retain rights to and keep cooking overseas. I like that he's been a multiple year starter so he's getting a lot of time to develop.

Skylar Mays is everything we want in a G.
- Can defend the point of attack at a very high.
- Is an elite shotcreater that can score off the dribble from every level
- has an extremely strong shooting profile
- 4 year player of no highschool significance so I'm assuming he doesn't have the arrogance of a coddled bluechipper

I'm wondering if Sam Merrill is a guy to consider in the second round as an instant impact role player. Dude shot a ridiculous percentage from 3 this year while possessing some passing ability and not be a liability on defense (granted in the MWC). At 6'5 200+, he might be an interesting Kennard type guy to give a shot.

Tankathon has us taking Tyrell Terry at #21 overall. Why is he not the perfect fit? Is he a defensive liability? He looks like what we need on offense to share point duties with Ben, and shoot the lights out off the ball.

Re: 2019-2020 College BBall/2020 NBA Draft Vol 1
I don't see the issue. We're getting punked by a team with a guy around that size right now.
Terry will add 10-15 lbs. naturally as he gets older and gets into a pro training program.
Tired of fixating on "2 way players" who can't move the needle on offense. Even a stud defender like Thybulle got absolutely lit up.
Because you can't stop great offense. That's what we desperately need. We have more than enough defense already.

Like him a lot from just clip watching.

Terry's defense and shotcreation aren't terrible, but there are tiny guys on the board better than him at both of those things. I don't like inflating guys' value based on shooting. Especially when we're talking about a 6'1" 160 pound guy that will now have to deal with NBA length and physicality in order to get his shot off, in the first place.

Based on Tankathon's mock, I don't like the slot we're picking. Especially if we go by consensus big boards. We need to be up in that #15 and #16 range where Hampton and Green are projected to go.

Some reports have him at 6'3" now. And its time for us to focus on shooting, which is the item you gloss over in your focus on defense and shotcreation. Shooting isn't something that inflates value, it is super important in and of itself. Especially for our roster which is totally lacking it.
Kid is apparently super intelligent also, which makes him a good bet to figure out what he needs to do to succeed.

Re: 2019-2020 College BBall/2020 NBA Draft Vol 1
Shooting is superfluous as a leading trait. It's unreliable in games that matter.
Look at how some of these shooters are shooting in the playoffs so far:
Tobias Harris - 0%
Eric Gordon - 12%
Khris Middleton - 20%
Kemba Walker - 22%
Kawhi - 23%
Paul George - 24%
Danny Green - 25%
Malcolm Brogdon - 25%
McCollum - 30%
Herro - 30%
Shamet - 33%
All that matters in playoff basketball are two things
- Can you guard your position?
- Can you score off the dribble?
Whether or not you can shoot is pure bonus. No clue whether or not you'll hit shots in actual playoff games at a decent rate since even pure shooters get cold when people close out on them aggressively.
So having shooting ability lead your draft decision is a faulty endeavor, IMO.

I just saw a mock that has Cole Anthony dropping to us at 21! I would be over the moon if that actually happened.

Re: 2019-2020 College BBall/2020 NBA Draft Vol 1
I think Kobble exaggerates a bit but yeah.
team needs dudes who can dribble around screens and take and hopefully make shots. Alec Burks is a spazoid who can't pass but look at his value on this ass team lol.
Shot creation is the skill we lack. Jimmy is reluctant to shoot 3s but he can and will dribble into the paint and create shots...for him or others or get to the line.
we need that.
My current target based off of youtube views lol is Kira Lewis Jr.

He def is, I think for a team like Phila that makes a ton of sense with a 2-way, you prob can have him late 2nd cause of his age and could help your rotation
Also Mays' defense is lackluster, highlights are solid but when you watch him play and focus on it play by play... ehhh, not sold

he is 6'3 in shoes now, he grew an inch, he is also 180, he does have bad length but he is a good team defender
he is kinda similar to Seth Curry with more vision as a PG the issue is that he has not 1st step/burst ablity, like he can't really go by anyone or push the ball, it feels like he can't dribble forward at times, so he probably will be very limited if he has to run an offense but he can really shoot and is a smart passer

Hampton is going to drop and go late 1st early 2nd
Green will indeed go around mid 1st, maybe maybe he slides to early 20s
I'd not touch Hampton if i were Phila
