In a separate article they mention that Jalen Smith might sneak into the lottery and that RJ Hampton might fall out of the first. Raps should look deeply at taking if he is there at 29:Teams don't sound as high on Hampton as they did earlier in the season, when many projected a lottery pick despite his decision to play in the NBL over the NCAA. While his explosiveness for a 6'5" guard always suggested upside, he didn't showcase any signature skill in Australia for scouts to feel confident.
I've started to hear late-first to early second-round grades from teams on Hampton, who combined to shoot 3-of-19 in exhibition games against the Oklahoma City Thunder and Memphis Grlzzlies when the New Zealand Breakers visited the United States in October 2019.
All it takes is one of 30 teams to buy into his athleticism and versatility while having patience with his shot and IQ. But he's definitely lost supporters, and he now sounds vulnerable to sliding.

Raptors can afford to let Hampton develop PG skills and shooting with the 905 for 2 years. I guess right now, he's a worse shooting, better passing Josh Green.

He was a 5-star recruit. An absolute blur in transition he was a one-man fast break in the NBL and created a huge amount of easy buckets off turnovers, long rebounds, and even made baskets. The ability to score in transition against a defence that isn't set makes Hampton a player who can get buckets without needing a play called for him. When he gets the ball and takes it 94 feet for a layup four seconds into the shot clock those points can feel like found money.
Him and TD running the Bench Mob would be great!

Lamelo has more usage than RJ and more PG skills at this point, but damn RJ looks so fast for 6'5! I did see him go left a couple of times (even though he still finished with his right hand).
His shooting form looks smooth.
I agree that there is really nothing wrong with his shooting form - maybe he has to work on shot selection. He is a lot like Zach Lavine coming in. Lavine always carried himself like he was going to be a star and he has really developed in a pretty short time. I think Hampton has the freak athleticism and drive to succeed. If Toronto develops him, we could end up with the next Westbrook.
