We pretty much select Ben over Jimmy. But we didn’t expect this to have an effect on Biid.
That is something stats can’t predict. Emotions and ego.
It shouldn’t be unpredictable, though. Building the team around the 2nd best player on the roster is likely to piss off the best player on the roster. And if the Sixers had competent ownership and FO staff, they wouldn’t have done it.
But see, Brett got sour after that Butler blow up during the game in Portland last year, and at that point the “brain trust” decided that Jimmy wasn’t coming back. They panic traded for Harris, because they knew they didn’t want to keep Jimmy and they were also scared of being shut out in FA again. They got lucky Jimmy wanted to go to Miami or they’d have gotten nothing for him.
