If we're going to play gender politics, if a guy had her track record, they'd be forced to step down by now.

As for this RNC, if people don't see why Trump being able to spew what amounts to 4 days of unchecked lies is a problem, then you're in for a serious awakening. That lineup is just wallpaper there to distract you from the rnc's true purpose.

So she's a clown because you don't like the Obama administration's solution for health care insurance? How does that make sense?

Of course she has to defend ACA when the GOP is trying to kill the coverage for tens of millions of jobless people. So telling us she's a clown for promoting ACA when she has absolutely no alternative until there is a Democratic president and a Senate majority does not compute. We do need a better healthcare plan, but not defending what is in place now would be criminal considering the GOP will not replace it with anything. They'll just let everyone with a pre-existing condition die at home.

There's a big difference between not liking ACA (I don't) and saying Pelosi is a clown (she's not) because she has to defend it until there is a better solution offered. If the Biden administration moved to revise ACA so it is more affordable and less rewarding to the insurance companies, do you think Pelosi would oppose it? Of course not, so stop with this false narrative

And, yes, Pelosi opposing Trump is NOT a small matter. It's been massively effective in preventing more carnage by the Trump crew since the mid-terms when she got the House majority back. And you claim she's ineffective. How's that? She has passed tons of bills that sit untouched by McConnell whose only strategy is to block legislation.

ACA is fine and I have no problem with that, but what has she done since then? She basically does nothing but talk out of both sides of her mouth, passes meaningless bills that she knows aren't going to pass and antagonizes trump. All of this is cute for the cameras, but then what?

You should do your research on the role of a Speaker of the House. Here are some examples of Pelosi’s accomplishments.

https://www.sun-sentinel.com/opinion/editorials/fl-op-edit-nancy-pelosi-mitch-mcconnell-20191220-epaerhp5zbeivibcy5z7kzykoa-story.html

In this term, the House has passed more than 400 bills, some of such extreme importance as restoring vital parts of the Voting Rights Act that the Supreme Court had overturned, protecting the 2020 election from renewed Russian interference, raising the minimum wage, and reauthorizing the Violence Against Women Act.
Despite today’s hyper-partisan climate, the Democratic speaker produced a bipartisan budget agreement and a new North American trade bill, one of the president’s highest priorities, which he will owe to her.
Only five bills, not counting resolutions, remain to be voted on in the House.
Pelosi represents the best of times.
But more than 300 of these bills are languishing in the Senate, including some 275 that passed the House with bipartisan support.

And this article (Keep in mind it’s a medium post so it’s mostly opinion) compares her to some of the worst Speakers of the House. This article just shows how much of a complete **** low bar men are held to. But it’s not without criticism of Pelosi.

https://medium.com/@brianscottmackenzie/is-nancy-pelosi-the-worst-ever-speaker-of-the-house-cc2be14f50ac

In her first stint as Speaker, Pelosi had to cope with the bursting of the housing bubble, the 2007 Financial Crisis, and the ensuing economic collapse — all caused and exacerbated by rash deregulation enacted under Presidents Reagan, both Bushes, and Clinton. Pelosi’s House worked with Harry Reid’s Senate and President Bush to develop TARP, a bipartisan policy that helped stabilize the world financial system and avert a repeat of the Great Depression, but did so by bailing out banks “too big to fail” — holding billionaires and millionaires harmless while poor and middle-class Americans bore the brunt of the financial crisis and the Bush Recession. Millions lost homes and jobs, endured diminished incomes, and took hits to their net worth from which many still have not recovered.

Amid all this suffering, the GOP responded to the election of President Obama with the aforementioned Caucus Room Conspiracy, wherein leading Republicans agreed to abandon bipartisanship entirely and block every Democratic initiative, good or bad, in order to erode Obama’s popularity and return the GOP to national power. (It worked.) Fueled by the rising Tea Party, Republicans executed this strategy with impressive discipline, invoking runaway deficits and the mounting federal debt to justify their obstructionism.

Pelosi’s House and Reid’s Senate worked with Obama to pass modest stimulus packages, including ARRA, which helped reverse the recession and put a battered country back on a frustratingly gradual road to economic recovery. They sensibly tightened financial regulations to prevent future crises. And they passed Obamacare, boosting the proportion of Americans covered by health insurance from 80% to 90%.

The bolded just shows the rat **** that Republicans did to successfully poison Obama and the Democrats in the minds of the general public. Amazing that it even works on people on the left. I think the hate Pelosi gets from the left is more about style than substance.

House Democrats have passed nearly 400 bills. Trump and Republicans are ignoring them.

This clearly shows in stark numbers how Mitch has basically shut down the legislative process, because if you're roadblocked by the GOP you could be 100% Leftist Purity-Approved Your Holiness Jello Biafra and you aren't getting much done

So please indulge us with some actual facts

If they cant get the job done, then maybe it's time for her and Schumer to step the **** down so we can find leadership who can.

GET WHAT JOB DONE?!!!!!

You have substantiated not a single point, yet when I have given you facts you say they don't work for you

All you're doing is saying you hate something, but confirming you don't even know why.

That is just spouting a bias without providing any basis. A rebuttal of "that is what you believe" would be false since you don't even know why you feel that way

You clearly are just spouting a bias you acquired from other sources with no knowledge of your own why you should believe it

I set up the pitch for you. You could at least hit the ball, but you didn't even swing and went back to the dugout which is lame

You know what happens when the republican speakers of the house fail to do their job? They get forced to step the **** down and repubs find another leader to find another way. When dems fail, all manner of excuse is made for them and they stay stagnant. If she's unable to find a work around, maybe it's time to find new leadership. The excuses are getting old at this point. Yea the republicans are **** with all their bull tricks, but nobody ever said the job was gonna be easy.

This is when I see AOC at her best. She’s able to make salient points about convention and target audience, while expressing criticism of the program. But she didn’t set her hair on fire or try to use it as a manipulative effort to attack her own party. I think Castro was invited to speak but declined. I agree with the point about not having a Muslim voice with everything Trump has done.

God willing the Democrats gain back all 3 houses of government, I can definitely see AOC being the person that’s able to connect with the working class voters in the mid west and southern states. It’s going to be hard to demonize her as a boogeyman when more people get exposure to her.

That's exactly what we should expect from AOC. A discussion that includes concessions to REALITY. Her supporters should take a hint.

One thing to remember is the higher AOC climbs in the party the more obligations she will have to juggle and the less pure she will become.

To put that into perspective, imagine AOC rises to Speaker of the House. Do you think she could get to that level or manage such a massive body of representatives without making back door deals and compromises? Not a chance

You make a great point about purity tests. The whole point is that you can never be pure enough on every issue. Politics is messy, people are complicated and there’s a lot of complexity in the system. The Republican Party is easy to keep happy, appeal to racism and tax cuts. It works for Republicans no matter the area. The Democratic Party is a hell of a lot more diverse demographically and with ideology. You can’t just wish legislation into existence, politics at the end of the is about relationships.

a lot of left leaning voters have just as an undeveloped set of critical thinking skills as voters on the right. It results in empty slogans and it is why the rabid left often resembles the rabid right. They suffer from the same flaws and each side clings to a sense of moral rightness to insulate themselves from compromising their supposed values when merely it is a sign of laziness and unwillingness to do the hard work of thinking things through

WASHINGTON -- Kellyanne Conway, longtime counselor to President Trump, will leave the White House at end of the month, she said in a statement on Sunday, citing her need to focus on family.

In a statement, she called her time in the Trump Administration 'heady' and 'humbling,' but said she and her husband are choosing to focus on what is best for their children, who are learning remotely because of the pandemic.

Conway's husband, George has been an outspoken critic of President Trump.

Also citing family matters, he says he is stepping back from his role with the 'Lincoln Project,' a group of Republicans aimed at defeating the president in November.

I just scrolled under that tweet. Pretty much every one of them is a raving idiot

The BS misdirections over Biden/Harris continuing to fundraise at high levels from small donors is literally anger that it is not Bernie which is so sad and pathetic. This level of childishness reminds me of the immediate "reach for my birther playbook" response by the right wingers when Kamala was announced. Same level of petty spite and a very foolish choice of grievance.

When so many people in a so-called "movement" consistently show the dysfunction of choosing the wrong things to get petty about it becomes clear that many of the people involved are not fit to lead. People get their talking points from their "thought leaders" and then spread their talking points without any critical analysis of their own. It is why social media is now such a chit show.

The left wing talking heads who are counterparts of the right are the ones who seek fame by generating attack memes against established politicians using the EXACT SAME psychological hate campaign tactics the right have used to great effect for 4 decades. It is the same BS and usually it is petty and often poorly conceived, but people lap it up and it is making the left stupid as dirt and heading towards failure if they keep these tactics up.

Her daughter's tweeting was savage. Said her mother sacrificed her family for money and fame. Which is true. KAC is one of the sleaziest political whores I've ever seen. Glad to get her off the stage.

if you aren't aware, their daughter posts on social media and she is pretty left wing and it's a circus, and despite their attempts to line her out and ban her from the internet they have been unable to do so and she is trying to get emancipated

https://nypost.com/2020/08/23/kellyanne-conways-daughter-claudia-conway-pushing-for-emancipation/

Kellyanne Conway’s Trump-hating daughter is apparently ready for a new family.

“I’m officially pushing for emancipation. Buckle up because this is probably going to be public one way or another, unfortunately. Welcome to my life,” 15-year-old Claudia Conway tweeted Saturday night.

Left-leaning Claudia has been openly feuding with her parents on TikTok and Twitter all summer, bashing them for their conservative views.

At one point she urged progressive Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez to adopt her.

Saturday’s tweet came alongside many more in which she penned her frustration over her mother’s work for the president, and over recent praise of her father, George Conway, for his work as co-founder of the Lincoln Project, a Republican anti-Trump group.

“As for my dad, politically, we agree on absolutely nothing. We just both happen to have common sense when it comes to our current president. Stop “stanning” him,” Claudia tweeted.

She added that her mother was “selfish” for pursuing her line of work.

“My mother’s job ruined my life to begin with,” she wrote.

“Heartbreaking that she continues to go down that path after years of watching her children suffer. Selfish. It’s all about money and fame, ladies and gentlemen.”

The daughter’s tweets have racked up tens of thousands of likes and retweets.

Claudia thanked her followers for supporting her and showed no remorse.

“I’m a savage lol I’m aware,” read her last tweet, punctuating her busy Saturday night.

It is the same BS and usually it is petty and often poorly conceived, but people lap it up and it is making the left stupid as dirt and heading towards failure if they keep these tactics up.

comparing us to right wingers and insulting our intelligence and acting smug and condescending and thinking your thoughts are the only ones that are correct developed and valid is not going to win anybody over. it's only going to drive people further away. the election is in two months. are posts like this helping?

Well, excuuuuuuuuuuuuuse me. It is exactly what I said. Smear campaigns by low content supporters using the SAME METHODS as the right. Absolutely the same approach. Nothing is more smug and condescending than those tactics so tearing down these misguided attempts at self-aggrandizement is EXACTLY WHAT IS NEEDED to temper the BS being poured out by thoughtless extremists.

And I explain everything. I provided data when appropriate. And I ask people questions fairly and give them an opportunity to account for themselves. You could answer what have you done that is any different than backing candidates to move the party left and you avoided answering. I had every right to ask you when MLK is being appropriated in a perverse fashion to try to make it look like a rabid left attack dog approach is somehow more authentic and urgent regarding oppression. So I'm still waiting for an answer:

What have you done aside from tearing down candidates that makes your approach better than what people such as myself advocate?

Did you register new voters?

Are you starting a new party?

So if you want to condone the pushing of smug, misguided leftist attack memes then provide a reason why that is more effective than backing the existing candidates and then nominating other left wing candidates in the future.

I'm not ducking anything

You are a major gaslighter around and it needs to stop. If you can't handle discussing politics without adding some condition or caveat to the intelligence or character of those you are clearly trying to impugn, the perhaps you should post somewhere else. You are the Greenie of this thread. Congratulations!

BTW, you should give up that name. Clyde stands for "cool" and you're definitely not that.

TO THE MODS, I also agree with robillionaire. Time to lock this baby up.

Here's the Wikipedia defintion for

GASLIGHTING:

Gaslighting is a form of psychological manipulation in which a person or a group covertly sows seeds of doubt in a targeted individual or group, making them question their own memory, perception, or judgment, often evoking in them cognitive dissonance and other changes, including low self-esteem.

So please do explain how calling Biden a rapist and promoting the Tara Reade story was helpful. You never dealt with that. So instead of telling me I'm working to sow seeds of doubt in a targeted group, maybe you should deal with your own incredible shortcomings as a contributor to a political discussion board.

You have been outed so many times for posting bad information that I've lost count.

And you repeatedly cited MLK to prove you are superior and you think I'm smug?

Nah man, that's some of the most bogus act of self-important virtue signaling I've ever seen, Too bad you can't handle it when you're called out, but clearly deserve it, ........

but if you want a good example of gaslighting I'd say misappropriating MLK to try and shame another white person as being less sensitive to the plight of black people is pretty rude and in bad taste

Not once have you humbled yourself and shown yourself aware of the crap you keep pulling so I don't feel bad for calling you out.

I asked Rob quite fairly what does your flame throwing rhetoric accomplish and the response is what does my tearing down that flame throwing rhetoric accomplish?

You see that game there? I do, but I'm not sure you do.

So if you or Rob or anyone else is going get on their high horse and smugly proclaim your sense of urgency is greater and your concerns for the less advantaged is more authentic then it is perfectly fair to point out the hyposcrisy over exactly who here are the ones being condescending.

This game of validating your molotov cocktail posturing as being more virtuous is the fakest chit I've ever seen.

There is a new party starting. I don't know if it's going to be worth joining or not. If it is, perhaps it would be worth participating. I'm registered in the green party but flexible to another option. It's possible there's still room in the dems, although it becomes more clear by the day those like myself are not welcome. A lot of things are up in the air right now, especially with an election around the corner. We don't know which way the winds will blow.

I never said I had the answers to every question, and I never said that my approach was better. Or that yours didn't have any value. I was giving my interpretation of what he was saying in the letter, which I still believe to be the correct interpretation and not "appropriated in a perverse fashion". You are free to disagree with the way I interpret it, but you want to take it to a personal level. Your questions are fair, and of course we could all ask ourselves if we are doing enough in a moment like this, but I don't know you or anybody else on here from Adam and I'm not going to answer it. You aren't entitled to demand answers about someone's personal life. But I would also encourage you to ask the same questions of yourself if the moment is truly serious.

While Kellyanne is leaving the White House, George is leaving The Lincoln Project.

I wonder if their daughter is hot because she is one badass babe. But if I were her, I'd hold out for a public renunciation of Trump and promises from each parent to vote for Biden. That would really drive Trump even more nuts.
