I absolutely agree with this! He will be a steal for whoever signs him this summer. Improved three point shooter, already a good defender, athletic, can guard multiple positions, still very young. I would absolutely gamble on him!

I'm all in on trading Harris because it needs to happen, but i'm not overly excited about Buddy Hield as the return. I mean...I'll take it, but damn...I'd rather have a guy that can create and score off the dribble. Hield is more of a catch and shoot player which is fine as long as Ben Simmons is healthy, but we all saw how worthless Korkmaz was in the playoffs. Hield would be great for the regular season, but I feel like he'd struggle come playoff time.

Harris can’t do anything in the playoffs either. Hield’s lack of creativity only becomes a problem if we rely on him for it. If we pair him with someone who can create shots (Paul, Holiday) then I think it becomes less of a problem.

I dont think Holiday can do that and Paul will be 36 next year. Paying no defense shooters 20+ mil when you dont have someone to to break the defense down doesnt make much sense.

Breaking the defense down chore would and should be Bens to shoulder. If Ben and Embiid are the focal point (as they should be) then having a guy like Hield can work. If Simmons is just going to be a glorified Draymond Green role player, then yeah...We'll need a Chris Paul, D'Angelo Russell, etc. A player like Hield won't work and it will make us miss average players like Alec Burks. Simmons has to take the next step plain and simple.

It seems like you’re hoping for something unrealistic. We’re not getting more impactful players for Harris and Horford. At this point we should be thankful if we could land either of those players.
Just curious, why are you down on them as shot creators? Sure Paul is 35 going on 36, but if he’s still effective then why does it matter? Any other targets you’d consider?

I doubt the Kings would trade Hield for Harris but they are a terrible organisation so you never know. And i might be tempted to do the deal just for the money saved and that Hield is an easier contract to move. But its not a given that Hield will help us more in the postseason. If you cant break down the defense to give them open shots, shooters tend to disappear in the playoffs.
I am not high on Paul because of his age, injury risk and contract. I also dont think you can get very far in the postseason by having 36 year old Paul run your offense (assuming he is healthy by that time). And if am not winning I prefer to develop Milton, Thybylle and Simmons than have Paul run the show. i would maybe still trade Horford for him but i think the Thunder will ask for much more than that.

Those are fair points. My concern is that with Embiid we’re not in the mindset of developing players like that. Brand, when making his trades and signing Horford, has said we have to win now. I tend to agree with that. Embiid probably has 3-4 years left of his prime? If Paul has 2 years left at the level he’s at, then I think we’d have a good shot at a chip.

If you want to win with Embiid you either need to trade Simmons for a star or Simmons needs to become much better in scoring and breaking down the defense. Trying to mask these issues with having Paul run the offense is not really helping us win a title. I am not completely opposed to Paul if is for Horford plus filler because he can help with the team's culture and be a teacher for the younger guys. However i think that Thunder will want real value back which i am not sure it makes sense for us.

Maybe the 2020 trade deadline. I wouldn't give Detroit any draft capitol, now. Both are expiring contracts and Rose's health is even less reliable.

It's a problem because he can't defend anyone.
You can deal with a guy that can't score off the dribble as long as he's playing good defense (Covington, Thybulle, etc). If you can't perform either of the playoff traits (shotcreation and defense), you're not bringing anything to the table, IMO.

This is pretty much what i've been saying. Simmons has to take on a bigger role on offense. We didn't draft him at #1 overall to be an athletic version of Draymond Green who can't shoot threes. He's here because he drew comparisons to Lebron James. Simmons should be averaging 25 ppg without a three point shot. He's got to take the next step. He's had Butler, he's had time, he's been coddled, we've given him plenty of time to learn. He's had some injuries which is all good, but he needs to come back next season with JoJo and take over this team. It doesn't matter if Al Horford or Tobias Harris are still here in my opinion. All that matters is that Ben and Jo take the next step towards becoming superstars. It's managements fault that we are locked into Tobias and AL who will basically just be role players paid superstar money, but it is what it is. Adding Chris Paul is a nice idea, but in my opinion all it does is enable Simmons to continue being a glorified role player. We have to force this with Simmons, because if we don't, it's never going to come to fruition. As I said...He's a number one overall pick in the NBA and he's treated like a star, he needs to be held accountable like one as well, and he needs to have the responsibility of one.

Okay so say you just give 1 first. That strengths our bench a ton. Follow it up with richardson And a pick for dinwiddie.
Dinwiddie/rose
Kennard/Milton
Harris/tiise
Simmions
Embiid/Horford

This team has no chance to add longterm talent to the roster other than draft picks.
Only way I'm giving up picks is if we're getting a young stud with a two-way game that is team-controlled for a good amount of time (ex. DeJounte Murray).

He’s playing like a top 15 player in terms of impact (RAPTOR and RPM). He’ll be much better than Dinwiddie over the next two seasons. His contract sucks, but we’re in win-now mode. Two years and he’s off the books.
JRich is an expiring and I doubt we’ll re-sign him for any significant amount. Horford is Horford...a good backup but the value isn’t there for us.
