Why would Carmelo leave Caruso?

Agreed. Get it below 15. 10 would be even better.

LeBron elbow to Trent Jr's face. No call. I'm surprised GTJ didnt toss his head back and sell it. They'd probably call the foul on him though.

Gave up 80 in the 1st half... Nice defense Stotts. Maybe we should try 4 guards in the 2nd half, instead of just 3.

If there was ever a game that was going to cost Stotts his job, I'd have to say this one. The not standing up for the players, the wide open threes. That's a brutal sequence.
I think we're getting mostly good shots. They're just not falling (combined with the different treatment of players in the post, but that's another topic). But the wide open threes and some of the switching. That's pretty bad.

I’m proud of Portland’s effort to get into the postseason. But they’re completely overmatched here. I imagine there will be some significant changes to the team next year.

Good call. For all of the grit the team showed in getting into the playoffs, they deserve to have a coach fire up for them when needed like this.

I don’t think he’ll be dealt. But I could see a couple starters traded - maybe even CJ.

Sure looked like he was trying. He was dogging the refs since that early non charge call against whomever flattened Lillard. Refs aren't taking the bait, but that doesn't mean the bait ain't in the water.Napoleon7 wrote:I just wish Stott’s would step up and embarrass the refs...call them out...get a dang tech

Re: Playoff game 4 rd 1 Portland vs Lakers
This team was never as talented when healthy as many wanted to convince themselves. Unless we make a splash move this offseason, I dont expect next years squad to be anything close to a contender or even a top-4 seed come playoff time.
I keep saying this, but we are considerably worse than the LA teams and I expect the development of the young talent on Denver and Dallas cements them as clearly ahead of us as well. It seems that Mitchell has found himself and Utah may jump above our talent threshold too.
We are in a tough position. The Dame and CJ contracts seriously limit our avenues to improve, our young assets are depreciating in value the more minutes they get and the league may be set to lower the salary cap quite a bit. IDK how we are ever going to get into the hunt as a true contender. Its looking alot like we max out as a treadmill team with our current talent.

Portland is playing a team with two top 5 players in their front court without Hood, Ariza, Collins and Little. Other than Nurk, who do they have in their front court who would get minutes on a playoff caliber team?

Does mean it's weak bait, though. Stotts isn't immune from criticism. This is a fair criticism of him.
