Why Jason Kidd would be better Nets coach than Greg Popovich

Post#1 » by nycefnl » Tue Aug 25, 2020 2:02 pm

Jason Kidd knows the Nets organization. He also knows potential rivals Bucks and Lakers inner workings and their plays which would be one of the Nets biggest rivals. Kyrie idolized him growing up and Kidd played with as good a scorer in Dirk and won a championship. And Nets wouldn't have to give up assets to get him.

The OP might be right:

-KD might need time to recover from injury

-With Kidd, Nets would either Miss playoffs or lose in Round 1

-KD gets extra rest not having to worry about the playoffs

This thread will not end well.

It’s almost as if we’ve never had the displeasure of watching JKidd coach in the NBA.

When is the estimated time for recovery supposed to end for KD?

Show me one NBA player that respects Kidd more than Pop, besides Jason Kidd.

I absolutely think that he would and the Nets should definitely hire him and give him a long contract.

Popovich should just retire if he's thinking about coaching the Nets. Kidd might actually be better able to deal with the player drama.

Yes, the Nets should hire Jason Kidd as their next coach. They totally should.

Do it, Nets. Please.

The only reason would be to provide the Nets, KD and Kyrie a scapegoat. They would throw Kidd under the bus and it will of course be understandable because Kidd isn't really a great coach.

If things begin to go south, it would be much tougher to blame the great Gregg Popovich. If Pop can't be successful with the Nets then it's the Nets.

Yes, but we've also had the pleasure, as well.

- He did a good job with the Nets, and in retrospect, was absolutely right in wanting more team-oriented players and less big names, as King and Prokhy had been pursuing for years.

- He did a great job in making #15 pick Giannis the focal point of the Bucks, and left the team much better off than when he took over.

That said, as both a Nets and a Kidd fan, and outside of getting Pop, I'd rather stick with Vaughn for now. He's shown a strong rapport with his players, and other than the inevitable Raptors sweep, his results speak for themselves.

But this prevalent idea that Kidd is a terrible coach or something is just BS. He's clearly not in Budenholzer's league yet, but he's still fairly new to the head coaching game and certainly has room to grow. Kidd also admitted that he learned a lot and would do some things differently, just what you'd want to hear from a youngish HC.

He did an ok job with the Nets, before he worked his way out of the organization mid contract to take a job With another tram (Self serving, questionable loyalty and questionable business ethics, no?) And he did a terrible job in a much bigger sample with the Bucks. This last part cannot be spun into something positive.

Personally, I wouldn’t want this guy anywhere near my franchise in any capacity.

If he wasn't a horrible coach OP would be correct.
They are going to hire Lue
