25 mil signing bonus is low meaning the back end may have high cap charges leading to a restructure or if he underperformed or gets hurt he can be cut. Not to mention I think they can spread any other guarantees over five years since he had 1 year left.

The signing bonus can be spread over 5 years since he had one left. Other guarantees are added the year they're paid out

Average per year isn't the metric I care about, guaranteed money is what really matters.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

What's the likely contract range (after KC's deal)?

IF Bakh gets paid well, does that likely write off both Jones and Linsley for next summer, and put King on the bubble?

Sort of, but the guaranteed money is more important. Only $25 million is very team friendly for a 4 year contract

I’ll remember this video when Rodgers starts throwing at his receivers feet in the flat.

While it's true the guarantee number is important with a younger really good player like Clark it's reasonable to think he'll see every dollar of that contract so totals do matter.

If he sees every dollar of that contract then that means he's worth it. We don't have much commitment otherwise (because of the low guarantee). But yes, it's still something that needs to be accounted for

For sure and I expect he'll be worth that number.

I think after years of the talking heads focusing too much on the whole contract number it's actually flipped a little too far the other way where some now only point at the guarantee number like the other part never actually gets paid out. It's especially true with franchise QBs who do typically see most if not all their contracts.

Kenny Clark's salary cap charges:

2020 : 6.69 mil
2021: 7.1 mil
2022: 20.65 mil (15 mil guaranteed)
2023: 21.25 Mil (10 mil Guranteed)
2024: 22.00 mil (5 mil guaranteed)

https://overthecap.com/player/kenny-clark/4739/

pretty team friendly. If he gets to year 4 he's probably lived up to the contract and multiple pro-bowler.

If we pay Bakh we are capped out for next year and will have to cut players to sign our draft picks

Jones Linsley and King are gone next year. We probably also have to cut Amos, Lowry, Jackson, Funchess, and Ricky Wagner. All of the guys we drafted this year along the O-line could start next year.

This is why I hated the Jordan Love pick so so much - we are hosed next year, and literally paying this guy to not play for two years. WE NEED GUYS WHO CAN PLAY TODAY. The exodus next year will be astounding

packers are 26 mil under for next year... if they structure bakh's contract like clark's they could take lower numbers the first couple of years. i prefer they cut linsley this year (if one of the rookie's prove to be competent) and use that to extend bakh. there is wiggle room, just not a lot.

Packers Twitter saying lots of good things about Rodgers.

Lots of positives about Rodgers.

Also multiple tweets about the mlb position rookie k Martin showing flashes.

yeah, if signing Bakhtiari were that lethal to our cap for next year, I'm sure there would have been many articles about it already. Of course it limits things for Linsley and Jones and King (and potential cuts, though the Pack hasn't really done that), but I don't think signing Bakh means they're done, much less having to cut guys.

also, it was probably a given that they'd re-sign Bakh when they didn't draft a tackle (besides Runyan, who's listed as a guard) in the spring.

Yessss. It would help the D (every down) so much if Martin and Kirksey can man the middle, wouldn't be so obvious to the other teams whether they should pass/run, like it often seemed to be last year.

We're at 189 mil for next year - depends on what the cap is. There's no way the cap goes up in a season where all teams revenue goes down. Best case it stays level (about 203 mil) and in that scenario to re-sign Bak and our picks we will need to cut players and let Jones / Linsley / King all walk. Maybe someone restructures - on that topic:

Seeing how they structured Clarks contract tells you a lot about the future of this team. First two years about $8 mil of cap hit, then it jumps to $20 mil in year 3. Year 3 is the first year we can cut / trade Rodgers - they will have to move on from him to keep the rest of the team intact. So Jordan Love is your 2022 starting QB.
