For what it’s worth, GSW beat guys and twitter draftniks insist that the Warriors have little interest in Wiseman and are instead targeting Deni with the 2nd pick.

Interesting. Maybe they have bad intel on Wiseman? I could see Avidja or Toppin as fits, but Avidja doesn’t seem like he’s ready for playoff minutes next year if he can’t really produce in the Euroleague.

The rationale I heard is that with KD and Iggy gone, GSW needs playmaking as much, if not more, than a competent big. That, and they’re unconvinced Wiseman has the goods. Not sure why specifically.

I think they're trading the pick for a number of reasons, but I would be shocked to see the Warriors draft Wiseman unless it's purely because they get the feeling that his trade value around the league is high enough to deal him later (and they don't fall in love with anyone else).
Deni makes more sense, but that would be a reach IMO.

If Haliburton actually has a 6'11" - 7' wingspan I really think this board should be more excited about him.
He has a very reasonable path to be a plus player physically at the NBA level. All he has to do is bulk up a bit, and he's there. I think that separates him from someone like Deni or Hayes who seem average.
He's been absolutely dominant in transition in college which to me bodes well for the spread-it-out style of play that most NBA teams are trying to achieve. He'd immediately be by far our best passer and he should be a nice defender as well. His spot up shooting is already there (FT% strong too).
I understand his shooting off the dribble is not there, but this guy would be no doubt #1 overall pick if he could shoot off the dribble.

Makes sense. I was kind of scared of the Warriors at #2 because I figured if Wiseman isn't the truth they'd sniff it out. As long as one of Obi, Lamelo or Deni is there at 4 we should be okay.

His frame concerns me. He is a tooth pick. The NBA has gotten lighter feet, but still... it’s a physical and fairly violent game, especially come playoffs. If Luka was 20-25lb. lighter, I don’t think he’d be nearly as transcedent.
But that’s the skinny - otherwise I agree, he is really, really skilled. And tall. His passes impress me more than LaMelo’s. They are very smart and controlled angles. LaMelo is flashy (and TBF, impressive) in a spinning behind-the-back kind of a way, but the kid is no Magic/Kidd. He doesn’t make the game look easy. It’s kind of like he’s going into the danger zone to bring people to their feet. Hali does make it look easy.

His frame is a definite concern, but it seems a lot more fixable/projectable than most of the other warts in this class.

Gotta agree on Hali. It’s weird to see a guy with his statistical profile - who played in arguably the toughest conference - dismissed so easily.

If that’s the case, Edwards will be the first pick and I think Charlotte will draft Wiseman. It’s either Hayes or Ball for the Bulls, but I’d rather have Hayes.

There was also that Jonathan Wasserman article (Bleacher Report) that said Wiseman is seen as more of a mid-lottery prospect around the league.
He also said GSW isn’t alone in thinking Deni is a top 3 prospect. I don’t have him that high so it’s odd to me, but I’m not sure he’d be considered a reach there anymore.

Re: 2020 NBA Draft Thread: Bulls pick 4th!
Yeah, I wouldn't be mad at Tyrese Haliburton.
He's another high basketball IQ player that can set the table for our scorers, while not taking shots away from our shooters.
I really believe that's why our talent hasn't been unlocked. Too many low to average basketball IQ players that were forced into roles to set the table for others.
So I think any of these players helps us there.
LaMelo Ball
Deni Avdija
Tyrese Haliburton
Killian Hayes

Between those two I'd take Ball. They're pretty even on a lot of metrics but Hayes is a little turnover prone and Ball is an elite rebounder.

Yeah, watching his interview with Mike Smitz told me all I needed to know about his BBIQ. He couldn't really explain why he did certain pass. It was mostly talent. Which is good but you can't really coast on talent when you're supposed main skills is passing. You need to be more cerebral on the court.PaKii94 wrote:Lamelo ball is not a high iq player![]()

Maybe I'm being too tough on him.

AKME? More like MEAK with how they're afraid to make a move to push us in one direction.

That's why I think either Wiseman or Ball will fall lower than what they're projected while either Toppin or Deni will go higher than what's expected.

Nah you're not being too tough on him. What he has going is good spur of the moment instincts but his IQ is severely lacking in everything else. A good way he was described on a podcast was he's like a freestyle rapper. He's quick to spit bars but they aren't necessarily the best quality.
Lavine is kinda the opposite way. I think he truly tries to read the game the right way but his decision making is a step slow which leads to in opportune moments

Deni to Warriors makes sense.

If Ball is there at # 4 it would be best case scenario for us , I have no problem selecting him or trading him to NY for # 8 and a future 1st.
