Not having a fully healthy Kemba HUGELY changes our playoffs outcome. Instead of sweeps of Bucks and Clippers in ECF and Finals, we may need a 5th game.

Re: Kemba Walker Thread = (Knee Issues, should Celtics be Concerned?)
It's difficult to imagine that in some way Danny didn't see this coming. This is a player on the wrong side of 30. A shifty PG whose knees figure a lot in his agility and explosiveness. Kemba's had 4 knee surgeries and before this season he's missed a grand total of 4 games in the previous 4 seasons while playing starter minutes. To think that at some point load management wasn't going to become a thing is just not rational.
Managing him now is prudent because games in late July don't matter. Games in late September do. And we'll want him as fresh as possible for those games so if it means scaling him back now to keep him strong for later than you do that. Also keep in mind that we expect to lose Hayward at some point in September as well. We definitely want Kemba strong for when that happens.
As for next year and following, you manage him down to 68-70 games a season at around 30mpg and pending further setback he should be strong enough for when the games really matter.

Long term impact of ongoing knee issues, but I think he'll be good to go for playoffs.
Do you guys think this ends the race for the second seed?

Maybe. Though I'm not certain Brad ever cared at all about getting the 2nd seed. He's more concerned with getting and keeping everyone healthy and getting some reps for 2nd unit guys cuz we will need them if we are to make a run this year. That said the Raptors have a tougher 8-game schedule than we do so nothing's off the table just yet.

Re: Kemba Walker Thread = (Knee Issues, should Celtics be Concerned?)
Starting lineup with Kemba (390 possessions):
- Offensive Rating: 122.3 points per 100 possessions (99th percentile)
- Defensive Rating: 108.0 points per 100 possessions (75th percentile)
- Net Rating: +14.3 points per 100 possessions (99th percentile)
Starting lineup with Smart (308 possessions):
- Offensive Rating: 109.1 points per 100 possessions (36th percentile)
- Defensive Rating: 105.5 points per 100 possessions (89th percentile)
- Net Rating: +3.6 points per 100 possessions (73rd percentile)
I'm the biggest Marcus Smart fan there is, but we need a healthy Kemba in a big way. That offense could stall in the half court against great defenses. Watched our Bucks win last night -- they were really great at closing on the right shooters and leaving certain people to jack up threes (namely Theis and Grant) then collapsing on drivers. But every time we attacked them quick in the middle with those drives esp by Kemba, we got something good out of the possession (foul call, kickout, floater, etc). Then the game just opened up for us in the 3rd quarter when Bucks started missing shots and we ran at every opportunity. We need Kemba right.

If that's the Kemba we get then good things in playoffs for Celtics. He looked so quick driving to the basket lets hope his knee holds up.

Props to Danny for closing the deal on him so fast. Kemba might not be as individually talented as Kyrie but he makes the team x100 better than Kyrie ever did.

The development of Tatum and Brown drives this team forwards. How rare to get an All-Star that helps that rather than hinders it?!

This is KG-ish, but subdued. Gave me goosebumps. Is this also why he's called Cardiac Kemba?

Not sure if you were serious on the Cardiac Kemba question, but watch his NCAA title run highlights. Absolutely worth it. He smashed.
