Damn, head coach candidates now have so many choices. I'm not so sure the Bulls is that attractive of a landing spot. Between Philly, Indiana, Brooklyn, and New Orleans, we have to be at the bottom of the list in terms of having that competitive of a roster.

His interactions with players are exactly the reason he was fired in Golden State. I honestly can't conceivably see another team taking that chance.

The Bulls need to hire Nate McMillan. The Pacers have overachieved for years and several players have become all-stars under Nate McMillan's coaching. With Nate McMillan, the Bulls could probably make the playoffs and Zach LaVine could finally make an all-star team.

McMillan is not coming cheap and the Bulls don't like to pay too much for coaches.

I think this coaching hire is may be a big hint regarding the general direction that AKME is going to go in with how they approach building this team out. Are they (or have they) going to find any useful pieces that they will consider to be foundational or are they going to completely blow up this team? And, I wonder to what extent they will make these decisions prior to hiring a head coach vs bringing in a head coach in time to get their input on personnel.

My guess that if they hire someone like Nate McMillan or Kenny Atkinson, that would signal that they believe they have enough foundational pieces to warrant hiring an experienced head coah, and if they go with more of the "lead assistant ready to take the next step", that would signal that they believe they have a ways to go and will need a bit more time to build up the roster so getting a less experienced head coach may also buy a bit more time in terms of expectations from fans/ownership.

I think it will be very interesting.

McMillan is a good coach, but I wouldn't want him because he controls his PG. He's the type that is going to call every play from the sideline. There is no free flowing. So if we don't want a LaMelo or Deni, he would make sense for Coby. His teams play good defense.

With that stated, I'm not a fan.

Here is the segment of the Jimmy Butler interview with JJ Redick that people keep mentioning when questioning support for Brett Brown. Seems like there's plenty of better choices, new and experienced, than hiring Brown.

McMillan is interesting but a lot of questions about his offensive strategies or lack of them. I plan to trust AK until given a reason not to.

He just got extended by Indiana, think he's pretty set on money. Don't see him being out of the Bulls price range.

No fan in the Bay Area likes him. He tried to make all his players go to his church, didn't get along with management and was not well liked or well regarded by the players. I also think his tv personality is know-it-all obnoxious. Avoid at all costs!!!

Yes, Jimmy, you are hard to work with. Every single team you have been on has not wanted you back. Let's see what happens with Miami.

Really didn't get much negativity from Jimmy about Brown. The biggest issue was he didn't give TJ McConnell more P&Rs? Meh.

What was clear was that Jimmy decided he didn't want to be part of the Sixers, not the other way around, and it was because the organization wanted to "control" him, and Jimmy is pretty clear he thought the idea of organizations controlling grown men was ridiculous. Whoever asked the "control" question had the power to make the decision about whether Jimmy comes back to Philly or not, so I'm assuming that would have been Elton.

Not really endorsing Brett Brown for us though, I actually am not a big fan of Spurs coaches like Boylen, Mike Brown, Brett, etc.. The Spurs organization demands a kind of obedience and discipline, and that doesn't work for the rich multi-millionaire celebrities that populate the NBA. Boylen probably tried to establish a Spurs culture here with all the extra practice stuff, I don't see why it work if a different Spurs coach tried the same thing.

As of right now, McMilian should be the top candidate. I'm hoping the jazz blow out the nuggets again (assuming the playoffs aren't canceled) and Malone gets fired. Hire Malone and McMilan as HC and Asst HC

Not sure i get the obsession Bulls fans have with mediocre coaches in McMillan, Joerger & Atkinson. I mean sure compared to Boylen they are upgrades, but that is a super low bar. Lets say the Bulls hire one and he succeeds, Bulls make the playoffs but get bounced in round 1 for 2-3 years. So the move is to what fire the coach and hire the next hot assistant... Hope Pop wants to still coach but SA wants to move on? I would rather just try to find the next Nick Nurse or Budenholzer now.
