Who would you consider the best blocking tight ends in the league?

Post#1 » by AustinGreyson » Tue May 12, 2020 11:05 am

I'm genuinely curious to this, and as a 49ers fan I see what George Kittle can do as a blocker and the effect he has on the offense as a blocker is incredible to watch, but I assume there would be someone better?

Like what makes a good blocking tight end?

How can you tell if a tight end is a good blocker?

These kinds of questions run through my omegle discord xender head a little, and with how inaccessible it can be to find stats for blocking its hard for someone with limited football knowledge (aka me) to know the difference

Id also like to know who would be considered the greatest blocking tight end of all time? I know Gronk is lauded for his ability in both the passing and blocking game, but people consider him the goat because of his complete package

From the outside looking in is easy to pick the famous guys don't get me wrong Kittle is a monster and one of the best and that's quite obvious.

However If you check out the film on different teams running game around the NFL (especially the good running teams) you start to see who really is the best when it comes to blocking and that's where you notice guys like Jonnu Smith(81 from the Titans) who not only wins on his blocks but the titans ask ALOT from him is the running game again'ts 8 or 9 man fronts trying to stop Henry which to me is extremely impressive especially since he is undersized.

All around TEs are never the best blocking TE in the NFL, but players like Gronk and Kittle are so devastating as blockers because they are great receivers too which gives them more options and angles in the blocking game and gets them blocking smaller players.

That said, there are very few all-around TEs who have coaches trust them to pick up and stop pass rushing specialist ends by themselves and that is a big factor in Gronk and Kittle being stars.

Nick Boyle is basically an extra linemen that offers the flexibility of lining up wherever he is needed. Dudes a road grader and is a big part of what makes the Ravens Rushing offense effective.

Not sure if he’s still the best, but Marcedes Lewis was definitely up there for us and considering he’s still playing, that leads me to believe that he’s still doing a pretty good job and Debit card generator tool
