Hunter we didn't have a chance to draft and if he was theoretically in the draft this year is he in the conversation for #1?

Reddish is bigger than Culver and a natural SF. He started last season poorly, but really came on strong down the stretch. My interest in him would be pretty high. Plus I love OO7. And Gordon for nothing but 17 and a salary swap. Sign me up.

Reddish is a SG, not a natural SF. He may be taller than Culver, but he’s not as physical. I tracked him as a Duke recruit in the AAU circuit. Watched him a ton at Duke. He’s a very talented kid. Great shooting stroke that was inconsistent in college, but finally started to see results late in the NBA season. He’s better suited at SG. In the MN 1-3-1 system, he’s just another wing like Beasley and Juancho. But if you need him to put a body on somebody, Culver or Okogie are better options at SF - despite their weaknesses on offense.

Wow so Reddish sucks at SF. Consider me no longer interested in acquiring him.

Do not want Okoro anywhere near this team.
I would trade number one to golden state first, get back the wolves 2021 second round pick and loosen the protections to top 16 on the first rounder.

Then I might consider trading number 2 to the knicks but don’t want Randle he has a bad contract and is a bad fit with Towns.
I would only do 2/Okogie for 8,2021 lightly protected pick,Barrett.

Then draft whoever is left between Okongwu, Hayes or Avdija

Randle has midrange and 3 pt shot now...even though he fg% isn't as good as last yr. if you leave him open for 3 he's gonna take the shot and most often make it. And b/w Randle and Towns, they'll avg atleast 20 rebs/game.

Lol would you guys trade down with the Knicks? They probly wouldn't offer us Mitchell Robinson. What if they offer us #8, RJ Barrett/Randle/Frank Ntilikina for #1, JJ, Culver and filler? Randle to me is on the same level as Aaron Gordon. Borderline allstar. Guys who play average defense and does a bit of everything. But Randle is much better ball handler and rebounder than Gordon. Barrett was #2 pick last yr. I think he's coming along with a yr of exp under his belt. And we just get Ntilikina for defense. As for the #8 pick, maybe we can select Isaac Okoro?

Dlo/Ntilikina
Beasley/Okogie
Barrett/Okoro
Randle/Juancho
Towns/Reid

Atleast the pieces fit. That's a playoff team. 6-8 seed here we come, lol.

I don't see the fit though. Barret and Randle are exactly the opposite to the 3&D players you want. The 8th pick is also right outside of the sweetspot (I don't like Obi or Deni). The valuable assets I see in NY are basically picks.

Not a bad trade idea, but I don't think they would give up all that. Barrett was the #2 pick in last years draft and played pretty well.
As for who to draft at 8 it could easily be none of the three above as they have already been taken.

here's Randle owning Tobias Harris and Al Hortford with fadeways, stepbacks, and spot up 3s. I would trade for him alone with a package of JJ, Culver and #17.

Barrett is seriously overated and won’t be worth a top 20 pick in a few years. I would happily add a third team to send him there for another lotto pick (atlanta?) he had to be included because the knicks lack serious assets besides future picks..

I wouldn't trade Johnson for Randle straight up, let alone add Culver+#17. Johnson provides leadership along with solid defense and decent shooting. Randle is a poor shooter and defender who is pretty much the opposite of what the Wolves need.

Welcome on board! Some of your post are missing context. For instance, this trade idea won't be even considered by our FO because of number of reasons:

* - Randle is not known as good defender, pairing him with KAT in defense is recipe for disaster
* - NYK clearly overpaid Randle. His contract is negative
* - based on reason above, Randle is not even worth #17 pick
* - Culver has more value for us as prospect than for NYK

If positional archetypes don't matter, why not just draft Okongwu as our PG of the future?

I had Barrett on my $200 fantasy league. He had efficiency issues, but he has skills and it is way too early to give up on him. I also believe it is too early to give up on Culver so I wouldn't use him as just a throw in on a deal.

Archetype is just a stupid fancy word for does he meet a need for our team. I would rather say that than talk about Archetype. I remember a few years ago and we didn't need archetypes to discuss the draft.
My extensive complex list of draft questions.
Is the player good?
Does he meet a need.
Do we expect him to improve.

I don't know how others are using it, but when I'm using the word it's to say that there is a specific type of player the team is looking for to play that position.

The easiest place to see this is at the center position, where Towns is the offensive archetype as an offensively-skilled big man with good perimeter shooting and passing ability along with solid athleticism. This is why Naz Reid was specifically targeted by the team and not someone like Tacko Fall who wouldn't really fit any of those categories.

Building a roster with positional archetypes allows a team to create and implement one system that can be run no matter who is on the court. They didn't have to completely change the system when Towns went down because there were already players on the roster who could fill the role even if not to the same level.

He is not as his brother but he has good hands and good feel as you see in his rebounds, steals and blocks. His frame will be a problem and could take some years to get better, but I'm confident he will be better than Dlo on defense. That's not too much to ask but enough to cover up with is offensive prowess. They will still need 3&D players at 3&4 though.

That video is from his sophomore year in high school. I'm guessing a lot of pros had bad defense at that age.

Not even saying he's a good defender, but that's a poor video to use as evidence in your argument.

Will you be upset with this scenario:

Trade with PHO:
Out: #1, Spellman, Evans
In: #10, Mikal Bridges

Trade with ORL:
Out: #17, JJ
In: Aaron Gordon

Trade with CLE:
Out: #10, Juancho, Nowell
In: #5

Draft Hayes, Tillie. Resign, Beasley, Jmac.

KAT/Reid/Tillie
Gordon/Layman/Vanderbilt
Bridges/Culver/Okogie
Beasley/Okogie/DLo
DLo/Hayes/JMac

In this scenario we would have multiple ballhandlers/passers - DLo/Hayes/JMac. Secondary ballhandlers/passers - Gordon/Culver. Multiple 3&D prospects - Bridges/Okogie/Culver. Multiple shooters KAT/Beasley/DLo/Reid/Tillie. Rim runner - Gordon.

Return to Minnesota Timberwolves
