heres the thing i keep seeing, people saying "trade up to 5, one of these guys would be nice!"

In sports, you dont trade for a SPOT...you trade for a player
A team isnt just going to trade up a certain slot, they trade up for a player they really want which is why most picks arent traded til draft day. No team is going to jsut trade up to say 5 today, they would wait to see whos available at 5 and then make a deal if their guy is there

I was kind of working under the guise this was assumed.

Any sort of move up trade would happen on draft night and be contingent on player X being available at that spot.

Thanks, Captain Obvious!

Many here are discussing the story that Orlando was granted a meeting with Killian Hayes ... a player, not a spot. We can assume most are wise enough to assume that any deal would be like ATL / DAL and happen on draft night if and when we see the player we want available when the agreeing team is on the clock.

**Supposed draft rumors so far**

* Warriors not really interested in Wiseman at 2
* Warriors interested in Nico Manion if they trade down
* Knicks interested in Isaac Okoro according to an NBA source
* Knicks could also possibly try to package picks for a star
* Mavericks could trade 1st round pick
* Wizards trying to acquire 2nd round picks

-Cavs have also been talking about moving assets and pick 5.

-Many insiders speculate Twolves will want to move #1 to build a team now for KAT and Dlo timeline. They need an established fringe allstar player with experience.

Let’s say we can’t afford 1 but get to 2 and Edwards is gone...is the pick Hayes or Ball? (I’m also assuming Edwards would be 1 but I’m not sold on him either)...I want to say it’s a crapshoot but maybe it’s just limited knowledge on my part...maybe GMs really have a sense of what’s real.

You wait for the Warriors to be on the clock. No reason to move up if Edwards is not there. Only exception is if we can flip the 2nd pick for another asset.

Personally? I would pick LaMelo Ball (No. 1 on my board) ahead of Killian Hayes (No. 4 on my board) and I really like Hayes.

But if the Magic are actually willing to pay the price to move up, then I am 100% ok with them grabbing the guy they truly believe in.

If Killian Hayes is the guy they love, then they shouldn't get cute. Move up and make it happen.

After edwards.... i'm leaning towards deni. The guy just seems like he will work on any team... and as i've said in another thread.... if AG is going out.... i see deni as being a great replacement and running mate with all of our remaining talent. him, isaac and okee would establish a great forward rotation.

After seeing Mitchell, Murray, even Burke doing well in playoffs i am a little bit higher on Maxey and Cole. Right now there is 19 players i like in the first round. I think we are good at our spot
My money is on Banchero going number 1 !

Gotta be careful with comparisons like this.

Mitchell and Murray were both significantly more effective offensive players in college than Maxey and Anthony and it still took Mitchell three years and Murray four years to crack 2.0 OBPM for a season.

Murray in college
120.2 ORTG

Mitchell in college (as freshman)
116.0 ORTG

Maxey
107.1 ORTG

Anthony
99.9 ORTG

I also would be a little hesitant to put TOO much stock into what guys are doing in the bubble. There's no crowds to swing momentum. There's no travel, so everyone is super well rested. And frankly no one is really playing any kind of tough defense. Scores and statistics are somewhat wildly inflated.

I know they are worse. I have Maxey and Cole at the bottom of my favourite 19 so i wouldnt propably picked them still their upside is worth considering, they should be good against drop coverage which we suck against.

And what? Gordon makes 18M next year and the Mavs would need to match salary. I'm not interested in Tim Hardaway Jr.

Their first rounder is only 18th.

Two of Maxi Kleber/Seth Curry/Delon Wright + 18 for Aaron Gordon + 45?

Have the feeling we're going to trade AG for Oubre. I think we should get the 10 pick too because hasn't proved that he can stay healthy.

As much as well all want a top 5 pick, Oubre + #10 where Orlando keeps #15 might be more realistic.

Then Orlando either walks away with a package of Devin Vassell + Kira Lewis or stashes a long term Euro project.

... or who knows, perhaps the two picks are more valuable to someone in the #5-8 range than AG and we can still grab Hayes with a second deal?

Shams said the opposite. His report was that it was the Suns who made a late push for Gordon and were rebuffed for not offering enough.

Although I suppose it could be six of one, half a dozen of the other.

Kind of odd that Oubre was basically held out after reports and videos looked like he was healthy. Who knows what exactly what we or they offered.

Cam Johnson turned it on and the Suns are now thinking he's their future at PF. They have likely lost all interest in Gordon. They are willing to move Oubre, but they are trying to use him to move up in the draft. The same way ya'll are trying to use Gordon to move up.

I think with Isaac's injury that Gordon is staying and that we are picking at 15. Period.
