Blake for Horford?

Post#1 » by SamFlow » Wed Aug 26, 2020 1:33 am

https://clutchpoints.com/why-the-sixers-pistons-must-consider-an-al-horford-blake-griffin-trade/

Not a rumor....But they spell it out and suggest Matisse and Rose.

I'd love to get Matisse.

Blake and Kennard, Khyri
for
Horford, Thybille, 21 pick

I'd consider something like that. Lowers cap this year. Gets a great team player and defensive dude with some offense at sf.

But the main thing is thybille. Not wanting to give up rose for one year. I'd rather keep him. But not a deal breaker. But I'd rather trade Kenard and get back a mid to late first. (kira lewis)

PG Rose/Lewis
SG Devin Vassell (or Aaron Nesmith) with our pick/ Brown/Svi
Thybille/Sekou/Svi
Wood/Sekou
Horford/Patton/Makur

Pluse we would have cap space to resign wood and maybe sign another good player. PG and Big man would still be something to look for.

I would love too get Thybulle and that pick but the downside would be some extra years of dead big salary instead of just getting Blake's done with in the next 2 years.

IDK, that's a tough call I feel good and bad about without being able to make a definite decision. I think I do it though.

Hayes/Rose
Thybulle/Brown
SVI/ Nesmith?
Wood/Sekou
Horford/Patton

Blake for sure is better than Horford and is younger and has a shorter length contract. The only benefit for us is that Al makes a little less per year. That said, #21 alone isn't enough for me to make that swap given the extra year on Al's contract when he probably won't be much of a player by that point. We'd need to get another young player we feel has some real upside to make it worth it.

Id Def do this! Hortford is only one extra year. Id offer Blake, Kennard for Hortford, Thybulle and this years 1st.

I'd take Horford, Bull & 21 for Blake, Luke & Thomas.

7 = Hayes or Haliburton
21 = BPA swing for the fences

Horford, Wood, Sekou, Bull, Brown, is a interesting starting unit.

Bench is lacking but with Rose, Svi, #7, #21 and maybe Giles...

Yeah I'd be down for that

What are the odds of both Blake and Kennard passing a physical?

We should not add long term money for old players no matter what. This is an easy pass.

Nope. Stay the course on the rebuild. No long term salary. No vets that might make us win extra games.

Horford makes us lose more...then we try to swing for the fences with a guy like Poku at #21. I don't hate it, but I do think Matisse is a tad bit overrated.

If we taking on a huge salary, i'd rather send Blake to Portland for a guy like Whiteside*, and pray that they attach Gary Trent Jr. Long shot, but a healthy Blake/Rose would sure be nice on this Portland team right now.

*EDIT: my bad, Hassan a free agent

Hassan’s a free agent. Horford fits us better, but we shouldn’t trade for him.

Patience, BG isn't going to get a big asset from anybody this year. Kennard I'd flip for the right deal, and this isn't it, if they trade him now for a pick in this draft it needs to be in the Lottery. Pistons need to acquire picks through their cap space and maybe overpay a bit for free agents with upside, no point in a deal like this for taking on Horford's deal and a low pick in this draft, maybe if it was a 2021 pick?

This team sucks. It needs to burn completely to the ground so it can be totally rebuilt.

What you are trying to do is put out the fire half way, then throw up some old junk on top.

Blake finishes his awful, stupid contract here. Then the team can finally try to start over.

They can try to start over now. Next two seasons they, currently, only have like $75 million and $40ish million committed.

Still shouldn’t do Blake for al without better incentive.

Adding an aging veteran with a large contract was a mistake the first time. Now we want to do it again. No thanks. This team needs to shed the veterans with value and start building a team that can win a championship. down the road The Hortford trade just keeps us hanging around the 8th seed a little longer. We need to take a step back to go forward.

I think we should be looking at taking on bad contracts for picks/young prospects, but I don't think those contracts should be longer than 2 years. I'd rather wait out the griffin contract and use cap space to absorb the bad contracts. Tank for 2 years and then look at what's worth keeping.

Agreed. This deal makes sense for Detroit, adding money and not getting value. Doesn’t make much sense.

Think we all agree that we should be looking to use our cap space to take on salary and young prospects or draft picks.

Question is: will Weaver do that or is his "restore" message actually code for win-now moves?

You'd like to think he'd want to build through the draft after seeing how successful okc were with it.
I don't trust gores. Hopefully he can sit back and let the professionals do their jobs

I'll do it. I'm not worried about Horfords contract - I'm pretty sure that there will be a CBA revamp because of COVID and a new amnesty introduced....and if there is not well - Horford drives the tank for Emoni Bates, then we trade his 1 year left on contract to another team, retool and go for the Championship.
