Re: 2020 NFL ROOKIES
I don’t know what they’re talking about here, but he looked like a stud in college. Inconsistent yes, but still talented nonetheless.
TYLER BASS
K, BUFFALO BILLS
Sixth-round rookie Tyler Bass has won the Bills' kicking competition.
Bass beat out veteran Stephen Hauschka. If teams use a draft pick on a kicker, they are usually going to win the job, but Bass was a bit of a head-scratching pick. He enters the league out of small-school Georgia Southern having converted just 20-of-28 kicks as a redshirt senior. The Bills are obviously in love with his leg, while Bass did convert 114-of-116 college extra points. The lack of fans early in the season could help a young kicker gain confidence.

HARRISON BRYANT
TE, CLEVELAND BROWNS
Browns TE Harrison Bryant has “stood out” with his play on the field and ability to grasp the offense.
Bryant had been getting first-team reps with David Njoku (wrist) sidelined. "He’s a very locked-in young man," coach Kevin Stefanski said. “He's on top of his assignments. Very pleased with where he is." Bryant opened training camp behind Austin Hooper and Njoku on the depth chart, but it’s possible he’s played his way into a timeshare for the No. 2 role.

ISAIAH COULTER
WR, HOUSTON TEXANS
Texans rookie WR Isaiah Coulter has shown “standout speed” at training camp.
Coulter had been limited by a neck strain, but he’s flashed when on the field. The rookie fifth-rounder is slated to open the year behind at least Will Fuller, Brandin Cooks, and Randall Cobb. It’s possible Coulter’s strong camp could make Kenny Stills ($7 million cap savings) expendable.

JALEN REAGOR
WR, PHILADELPHIA EAGLES
The Philadelphia Inquirer reports "it will be a shock" if Jalen Reagor doesn’t have a significant role in the Eagles offense.
Sports Radio 94 WIP’s Eliot Shorr-Parks also expects Reagor to have a Week 1 impact. Reagor may not open the year an every-down starter, but he has the clearest path to targets behind DeSean Jackson with Alshon Jeffery (foot, active/PUP) looking likely to miss a couple games. Reagor has been trending up in rookie-only drafts after Brandon Aiyuk’s hamstring injury. J.J. Arcega-Whiteside also has some camp hype, but Reagor remains the better bet for a top-three role regardless of Jeffery's status.

D'ANDRE SWIFT
RB, DETROIT LIONS
Lions RB D'Andre Swift's leg injury “could cost him snaps” to start the season.
"I think missing time in general, with rookies, is a concern," coach Matt Patricia said. "We’re going to have to do a good job of making sure he’s acclimated when he is ready to go. Kind of work him in that way until we build up a little background for him where he knows maybe what he’s going to see.” The comments aren’t a good sign for Swift’s early season role. Swift hasn’t practiced in nine days, and Patricia suggested he could be eased in with a pass game role behind Kerryon Johnson. Swift’s Week 1 touches may be limited, but his workload should grow as he gets healthy.

KJ HAMLER
WR, DENVER BRONCOS
KJ Hamler (hamstring) was cleared to work on a side field with trainers.
Hamler has missed the last 10 days of practice. He was given a 2-4 week timetable but is ahead of schedule. Hamler still looks on the wrong side of questionable for Week 1.

DARNAY HOLMES
DB, NEW YORK GIANTS
Giants rookie CB Darnay Holmes could start opposite James Bradberry.
Holmes has been one of the bigger risers at Giants camp. He’s locked in a top-three role and may be the favorite to start outside. With DeAndre Baker on the Exempt List and Ross Cockrell backing out of his deal, the Giants are counting on Holmes to play heavy snaps.

HUNTER BRYANT
TE, DETROIT LIONS
Lions rookie TE Hunter Bryant has been sidelined with a hamstring injury.
Bryant was talked up by coach Matt Patricia before going down. Injuries are nothing new for Bryant, who missed most of his first two seasons at Washington. Bryant went undrafted because he’s undersized and struggles in run blocking, but he may have the most talent of anyone behind T.J. Hockenson.

SAM SLOMAN
K, LOS ANGELES RAMS
Rams K Sam Sloman continued his struggles Saturday amid the team's three-way kicker competition.
While the Rams blasted Twilight Zone music as Sloman kicked, the seventh round selection missed three of his eight field goal attempts. He was the only of the three kickers to make his 53-yard try. Sloman was off target in the team's first scrimmage too. When a team drafts a kicker, he usually makes the roster. But Sloman could very well lose out to either Lirim Hajrullahu or Austin MacGinnis.

ANTONIO GANDY-GOLDEN
WR, WASHINGTON FOOTBALL TEAM
Washington coach Ron Rivera said Antonio Gandy-Golden has struggled to pick up the offense.
“He’s got to learn what he’s supposed to do,” said Rivera. “He’s still making mistakes out there — where to get lined up, where the motion and movement is for him to do those things and how to do his routes.” It’s further confirmation Gandy-Golden is behind the rest of the receivers. Washington has been giving first-team reps to Dontrelle Inman alongside Terry McLaurin and Steven Sims. Gandy-Golden may not open the season higher than the No. 4 option.

DEZMON PATMON
WR, INDIANAPOLIS COLTS
Colts sixth-round WR Dezmon Patmon is making a push for a roster spot.
Patmon has been competing with Daurice Fountain, Marcus Johnson, and Artavis Scott. He’s reportedly had a strong camp. Patmon’s draft status might give him the edge for the No. 5 role.

CEEDEE LAMB
WR, DALLAS COWBOYS
The Athletic's Jon Machota reports CeeDee Lamb has “looked comfortable in all formations."
Lamb has cross-trained at three receiver spots. He’s also been featured on jet sweeps and reverses in camp. Lamb looks as advertised and is going to start in Mike McCarthy’s three-wide base offense. Lamb’s target share behind Amari Cooper and Michael Gallup is his only Year 1 concern.

BRYAN EDWARDS
WR, LAS VEGAS RAIDERS
Bryan Edwards has been the starting X receiver at Raiders camp.
Tyrell Williams (shoulder) is questionable for Week 1, setting up Edwards for snaps on the outside. Edwards quietly opened camp with the first-team offense and has been the star of 11-on-11 drills. The Athletic’s Tashan Reed thinks the Raiders “don’t want people to know how good they think Edwards is” and “won’t hesitate” to play him. It’s looking possible the Raiders let both Edwards and Henry Ruggs open the season as starters.

BRYCE PERKINS
QB, LOS ANGELES RAMS
Rams coach Sean McVay said Bryce Perkins has "done a nice job" with his training camp reps.
The Rams gave Perkins a vote of confidence when they waived Josh Love. It leaves only John Wolford for him to beat out for the backup role to Jared Goff. Perkins was electric in two years at Virginia, throwing 47 touchdowns and rushing for 1,692 yards. McVay's preference for off-script quarterbacks may help Perkins land a spot on the Week 1 roster.

JAMES ROBINSON
RB, JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS
Jaguars rookie RB James Robinson has had "several strong runs" in team drills.
Robinson went undrafted after running a 4.6 forty. His 92nd-percentile burst score and 69th-percentile agility were more encouraging, and there’s no doubt Robinson was a college dominator at the FCS level. Robinson flashed while Ryquell Armstead was on the COVID-19 list, a good sign for his roster chances. With the Jaguars looking ready to move on from Leonard Fournette, Robinson is a forward-thinking late round pick in rookie-only drafts.

JOHN HIGHTOWER
WR, PHILADELPHIA EAGLES
The Philadelphia Inquirer's Jeff McLane reports rookie WR John Hightower "could move up the depth chart if Jalen Reagor (shoulder) is sidelined for an extended period."
First-round receiver Jalen Reagor is expected to miss the start of the season with a partially torn labrum. That opens up a spot as a starting receiver and Hightower could be the man for the job. McLane called him the offensive MVP of camp while noting his impressive hands and route running. Hightower profiles as an outside receiver and has the speed to out-run most corners. He posted a 4.43-second forty-yard dash and stands at 6'1. Hightower is a name to watch as a premium add off the waiver wire if he does end up starting Week 1.

Apparently has struggled some lately and is expected to be PS material. Saw a WR roster prediction of Samuel, Aiyuk, Taylor, Bourne, Pettis, Austin with James on PUP list to start the season.

D'ANDRE SWIFT
RB, DETROIT LIONS
Lions RB D'Andre Swift returned to practice on a "limited" basis Monday after missing more than a week with a leg injury.
Lions head coach Matt Patricia called Swift's absence "a concern" and said the team would "work him in" upon his return. The rookie returning to practice, even in a limited capacity, is somewhat encouraging news. Meanwhile, Detroit beat writers expect Kerryon Johnson to function as the starter in the early season. Swift's sixth round ADP looks more and more iffy every day.
