Re: Around the League - 2019-2020
I don't see any defensive value in the 285 pound post-defending iteration of Embiid that he currently is.
There's hardly any post scorers for him to defend. And ball handlers just come off screens and drill wide open mid-range jumpers 10-15 feet in front of him. So what good is the rim protection doing us?

I don't like his personality, but I can't deny that Russell Westbrook is the hardest working player in the NBA right now. He gives everything to whatever organization he's apart of.

I have this belief that 99% of all players just cares about the money and the fame. Westbrook belongs to the 1%.
You won’t hear people will say “he checked out”, like a guy I know.

AD & LeBron dropped 43pts and 36pts, respectively.
Biid and Ben can be that.

Re: Around the League - 2019-2020
One thing about the lakers is they do their homework on defensive scouting.
I watched them played against the the Clippers. They force Kawhi to go left the entire game. I was looking at the short chart and it made sense.
Then i watched our game 7 against the Raps. Kawhi was killing us from the right side of the court. And we didnt make any changes with it.
Then when we played against the Celts. I dont know who is this stupid to have our bigs drop so low against Kemba on his PnR.
I dont know what Shane Battier is doing nowadays but he’s be great to be our defensive coach. The guy is known for his defensive scouting before playing against the stars every night.

Personally, I like a guy like Kemba because he can get Biid involve with the two man game. If the defense don’t switch he can just drop a ton of points.

Nasty.
Tatum is a guy who loves the game that he spent offseasons to work on his game.
I’m not referring to computer games when I use the term “game”.

The Clippers roster, outside of Kawhi and Landry, is very hard to root for.
2025-2026 Philadelphia 76ers:
Maxey/McCain/Lowry
Edgecombe/Grimes/Gordon
George/Oubre/Edwards
Watford/Barlow/Walker
Embiid/Drummond/Bona/Broome

Re: Around the League - 2019-2020
How great is Doncic...doing this on one leg as well?? Crazy for Van Gundy to criticize him for complaining after every call. If anyone questioned it before this series, he has cemented himself in the top 5 of the league so why shouldn't he get the same kind of calls as LBJ? I do wish the NBA would just officiate the game without any star privileges, but you have to extend that same privilege to Doncic...really, really special.

Once Luka starts playing defense (he did when he played overseas), he'll immediately enter the GOAT discussion. Because he appears to be way better at his age than any player in NBA history.

The Hawks may go down as making a worse trade than a few of the Sixers deals.

It depends on what Dallas can put around him. I feel that Porzingis is already an albatross, however they have a good organization and coach so they might attract some free agents.
And we need to see how Doncic looks next year. To me it seems incredible how he can drive so much and draw fouls with a subpar athleticism and below average shooting. We will see if the defenses can adjust a bit now that they have scouted him more.

Trae young is a nice compensation. Not as good as doncic but its not that bad.
What’s bad was the couple of teams who drafted bigs in this era where bigs is optimized not play a role more than a role player like Suns and the Kings with Ayton and Bagley.
If there is a NBA scouting academy, lesson #1 should be to never draft bigs with a top 5 pick unless it’s the second coming of Wilt Chamberlain.

I was gonna say, Trey Young is putting up damn near 30 mpg and 10 assists. Bad team or no bad team, those are amazing numbers for a 21 year old. That trade fit wise wasn't bad. Both players will have very long careers. Sacramento taking Bagley is probably the bigger mistake. Still not as bad as us taking Fultz over Fox, Mitchell, Tatum and well....pretty much that entire draft class.

How are you judging the deal by it’s thought process or by current result or by future projection?
Because for me the thought process to select Fultz was right and wasn’t as bad as selecting Bagley over Doncic or Trae.
People weren’t surprised Fultz went number 1. Many people even love the pick. He even is exactly the kind of player we need. While drafting Bagley over Doncic and Trae was a head scratcher. I’d even go as far as the Ayton pick (go to the suns board and see how i was hard selling them to select doncic or young over bagley based on what the mistakes we made with Jah and Noel).
Fultz isn’t in the same league as Tatum or Mitchell right now. But to be fair people were 50-50 on Tatum with the 3rd overall pick. Most of us had Josh Jackson. Then nobody thought Mitchell is going to be this good.
I also think Fultz is still a very promising player.
Anyway, we have none of these players now.
One guy I’d love to have right now are Giannis and Ingram. Both could have been a Sixer also.
