I remember when people said AD wasn’t a top 10 player. Good times.

Good game Lakers fans. If we were healthier I think the series would've been better, but I'm probably wrong haha. Onto next year for the Blazers, onto the next round for you guys. Best of luck!

Feels great to get a playoff win. 2012 against the Nuggets was our last time.

When AD shoots like he has this series he is impossible to guard. Hope he keeps it up.

Next step in AD's evolution is running those pick and rolls as the ball handler and taking those 3s without hesitation or stepping into midrange territory.

27.4 ppg 10.2 rpg 10.2 apg 1.2 spg 0.4 bpg .463% from 3(on 5.6 attempts) .708% TS, 126 off rating 102 def rating, 31.8 PER

29.8 ppg 9.4 rpg 4.2 apg 1.4 spg 1.6 bpg .389% from 3(on 3.6 attempts) .656% TS, 139 off rating, 101 def rating, 36.4 PER

When you have this straight up dominant duo for a whole series, you really just need for the role players to do their thing and contribute decently. Both played only 32 mpg as well, they are fresh going forward.

Houston's probably next, I expect nothing less if not more from our Big 2 against that midget ball. Let's do this!

Hard to watch. Defense was non-existing for most of the game. In the end they got the win and that's all that matters for now.

They ain’t built like that. They ain’t coached like that. It’s hard to be Phil. It’s hard to be Shaq and Kobe or MJ and Scottie and be tough enough to win it and then defend your **** twice

I know.. specially with Lebron's decline. Nobody's ever been close to Shaq, and Vogel was a 3rd/4th choice for HC even for the Lakers. Just dreamin'.

But if the front office can make some savvy moves for better role players this summer / fall, it's not a stretch to milk a title or two out of this core over the the next couple of years.

Lakers ain't losing game 5. So he was out regardless. Plus with the minutes he's been logging all year and in the bubble he shouldn't come back anyway. Guy was averaging like 40 mins a game before the playoffs

Injured his groin before covid playing so many damn mins

I am not saying you are wrong about the Lakers not losing game 5 but they need to be prepared for everything that might happen. I've been watching this sport for 40 years and I am a believer of law of averages. Lakers seemed fully prepared to minimize Lillard but now he's out and now should be replaced by a quicker/faster Simon. Portland will likely play loose and let it fly from the 3pt area and Melo, Trent, Simon etc can get hot from there. AD who was on fire from 16 feet might eventually cool down.
Some interesting stats for 5 games.
1. Most of us grumbled and moaned about Green's struggles from the 3, well after 5 games, he's 3rd highest in the team at 40%, actually 2nd if you don't count Cook's garbage mins. AD still suck at 25%
2. From shooting a really good 85% from FT line, AD is now just averaging 67.4%
3. James has maintained his high 10.3 assists/game but is averaging 4 turnovers.
4. Portland is just shooting 47.8% EFG%, with an ORTG OF 103.1 and their season ave was 53% on 113.7 (3RD in the league)

Portland shot 48% from 3, with Melo, Trent, CJ and Simon hitting 12 of 20, making the game a lot closer. I was wrong about AD cooling down though.

Yeah I just knew once LeBron smelled blood, it was over. That's typically how it goes. Plus I knew Portland would be running on fumes because they've been playing playoff minutes preplayoffs

So that's why I said Lakers in five

Portland was 28th in league in defensive rating giving up nearly 115pts/100, so only 2 teams were worst and they had Ariza before. Game 5, their best player/leader left and while they were hot offensively, they seemed to have given up on defense IMO.
Houston on the other hand actually surprisingly ranked 14th on defense. In theory, AD and James should continue to feast on them but I still would prefer AD to attack more "when" and not if he cools down from his jumpers eventually.

I didn’t say they couldn’t get to multiple finals. I just doubt they can actually 3 peat or even defend it successfully. Tim could never defend his crown. Lebron has been to 8 finals straight and only defended his throne 1x.

Hakeem was a special ass type to defend his throne.
Mj/Scottie and Kobe/Shaq were in another class

I would be happy if they got 3 finals trips like Kobe and Pau out them tbh

To be blunt any team relying on Dame in the playoffs is going to suck defensively. He’s god awful on D and he’s inefficient like Van Exel on O. He’s a large net negative when he’s on the floor because he’s just what Skip Bayless said, not a superstar.

Their D was better because Dame wasn’t being exploited. Their O was better because CJ and even Melo aren’t one dimensional like Dame. Dame is a one trick pony, he can’t play off the ball, can’t cut, and can’t open up the floor if he’s not pounding it.
