It somehow went under the radar and was unreported/underreported that Mike Zarren has been promoted to Vice President of Basketball Operations starting this season (2019-20). His previous title was Assistant GM. It's maybe an incentive so he doesn't leave the Celtics for other teams trying to poach him?

^^
So sad that I can't post these random stats for the board anymore. Basketball-reference stat finders are now behind a paywall via their new site StatHead. Booooo.
Oooh, I have a lame one...
Of all the current Eastern Conference players, Jayson Tatum (16) is 2nd to the Greek Freak (23) in most number of 20-plus point playoff games since he came into the league. Jaylen Brown has 12 in that same span.

just more proof how utterly useless the voters are for these awards. It's all about name recognition because so many of these people don't even watch the games.
Brandon Ingram went from 18-5-3 (33% from three) to 24-6-3 (39% from three). Certainly nice improvement but...
Duncan Robinson went from 3-1-.3 (29% from three) to 14- 3-1 (45% from three) Wow!
DeVonte' Graham went from 5-1-3 (28% from three) to 18- 3-7.5 (37% from three) Wow!!

Starting to wish I had invested significantly in my faith in this team.

Re: Celtics General Thread 2019-20, "Re-Start"
I feel like the vibe that existed with ECF run 2 years ago has returned. I think Smart being inserted into starting line up has ratcheted up the defensive fierceness of starting unit. Theis and Walker might not be quite as physically tough defensively as Horford and Rozier were in 2018 but when you factor Walkers surprising knack for drawing charges with his elite offense, the unit is better overall but still a nightmare for opposition due to defensive versatility. We need Hayward to come back and be an upgrade over Semi/Grant/Langford off the bench to beat the Bucks, Clippers or Lakers and maybe the Heat as well. Even without him we have a legit shot at getting to the finals which is hard to believe. Clearly....Tatum, Brown and Smart is the present and the future!

It now seems very likely Giannis will move on in a year. Maybe he'll choose Dallas, which is an obviously attractive landing place. Maybe he'll find an option he likes better. But in any case, the era of attempted superteams is continuing.
And so next season, with Hayward still likely under contract and Kemba still in his prime, absolutely is part of our competitive window. It's not a year to in any sense be thrown away in pursuit of longer-term goals.

Jackie MacMullan doing Jackie Macmullan things. Takeaways include:
-- Hayward is NOT planning to leave the bubble again for the birth of his son (apparently Robyn Hayward posted to that effect on social media somewhere).
-- Ainge skipped the bubble due to the risk to people with history of heart problems ...
-- ... but he thinks he's in better shape than that. Mentioned: 54 (!) holes of golf carrying his own bag.
-- Ainge thought Game 4 was just horrible.
-- Allison Feaster (senior member of management in the bubble before Mike Zarren's arrival) is a former player with social justice advocacy history, and was a great partner/foil as such for Jaylen Brown.
