I mean, I guess I'm glad they at least kicked the tires/listened to offers for Hader, but I'm still worried he'll do the reliever thing where he suddenly is significantly worse and loses his value. I know we aren't talking about a flash-in-the-pan, one-season kind of player here, but it still makes me nervous.

Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming Wow! What a Ride!-H.S.T.

This market always felt like it was going to be a little weird. I think, over a full season, with proper time to shop, and no expanded playoffs, you would have seen a more thorough gutting of our roster and the sale of some of our non-key pieces. Right now, though, they're only 1 game out of a playoff spot.

Completely forgot about the trade deadline
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

Re: 2020 Brewers News/Trades/Transactions Thread: Phelps to Phillies
Ramey:
Peullo:
Geraldo:
Ramey returned to GCL Phillies West as an 18-year-old. He posted a 2.78 ER and 0.750 WHIP in 7 starts. He walked 6 and struck out 30 batters in 22.2 innings for a 2.4 BB/9 and an 11.9 K/9. He held opposing batters to a .143 batting average. He throws a fastball (91-94 mph), curve ball, and change up. He didn’t pitch after an August 3rd start where his fastball topped out at 91 mph.
He was the opener in their June 26th no-hitter over GCL Phillies East. He pitched 4.0 innings, walked one and struck out seven. He followed that with another 4.0 innings of no-hit ball issuing 2 walks and striking out seven, again. His no-hit string was broken in the first inning of his next start, when he retired just two of five batters in the first inning. He was lifted because he reached the 24-pitch/inning limit set by the development staff for young pitchers. Ramey rebounded with another 4.0 innings of no-hit ball in his fourth start.
After being shutdown after his seventh start, Ramey told me that he just had a “tired arm”. His pitch repertoire includes a change up that he throws 82-84 mph and a curve ball, 77-78 mph. He had slipped under my radar at the Complex. I had confused him with a juco pitcher in the organization. As a teenager with a decent fastball already, his future looks promising.
Peullo:
ETA: 2024
Yet another teenage pitcher with electric stuff, Puello struggled at the GCL in 2018 (at the age of 17, mind you), finishing the season with a 4.52 ERA over 65.2 innings with a 13.2% walk rate and only a 21.4% K-rate, even though he sported a 31.2% swinging-strike rate. Going back to rookie-ball this season, it was a different Puello this time around, as the 18-year-old ran roughshod over the competition. In another 65.2 IP, this time Puello finished with a 1.92 ERA and 0.96 WHIP, shaving almost six-points off of his walk rate and raising his strikeout rate over 10 points, to 32.3%—with a 46.9 (!) SwStr%. See; roughshod, ran over. Only recently turned 19, Puello already sits 92-94 mph (touching 95) with a plus slider and an average changeup. 6’3″ and 200 pounds, if Puello is able to keep up his new newfound command as he moves up the system in 2019, he will start rocketing up the Philly farm rankings.
Geraldo:
Juan Geraldo, RHP (PHI) - Signed in 2017 out of DR, now 18. HTQ delivery, looked like a high-spin fastball that sneaks up on hitters. 91-92 T 94, leans back before he delivers toward the plate. I think I picked up a cutter against a RHH at 93 that could be a weapon. 83-86 SL, backdoored one to a LHH. Command of it improved as time went on. 2 IP, 2 H, 1 ER, 1 BB, 4 K. Like Deurys, also intrigued about development.

Nice to bolster the pitching prospect depth after they went bat heavy in the draft this year. Heck if even one of these guys pans out it's a good trade.

Reminds me of the Antuan Edwards/Mike McKenzie/Fred Vinson draft. Get quantity and hope you hit on one.

Re: 2020 Brewers News/Trades/Transactions Thread: Phelps to Phillies
It's remarkable how bad the offense has been this year, and how poorly Stearns constructed the lineup. Even if Yeli and Hiura were hitting up to there standards, the rest of that lineup is crap and has largely been crap for a majority of their careers.
I love Hader, but he needs to be moved this offseason to reload on offense. We need young corner infielders badly.

Given the state of the team I'm surprised they didn't move Jedd.

This is what happens when your farm system is crap. You keep picking from other teams' scrap heaps. Seriously, what legitimately promising hitter do they have in the system? I'd say none.
Stearns is desperate at this point.
