This Mitchell guy’s all over the place. Kennard is nice and steady. Consistency is key.

It's all good, man. We've got Andre Drummond as our franchise superstar already. Traditional centers are the future of the NBA. Bonus points if they're also lazy and selfish and refuse to play within the bounds of their ideal role. And the pairing of Jackson and Drummond is unbeatable. We don't need a dude with a high ceiling. Better to take the safe route on a complementary guy. Never mind that we've got an $80 million offer on the table for KCP and our eyes set on Langston Galloway, both of whom play the same position and both of whom will get priority in the rotation. Championship, baby!

It could be worse. Think about Green Bay taking Tony Mandarich over Barry Sanders.

2009 nba draft

With the 5th pick, the Timberwolves select PG Ricky Rubio
With the 6th pick, the Timberwolves select PG Jonny Flynn

They passed on POINT GUARD steph Curry TWiCE, while drafting point guards.

Time for a 'sackcloth and ashes' thread again so soon? ;-)

Does this really needs it's own thread? I think we might have covered this before.

Its a constant reminder to stop drafting/wanting safe picks.

They also picked Lawson in the first round too. That GM was a real genius.

All I can say is that Luke never would have gotten the ball poked away at the end of a game 7. He wouldn’t try that move.

At the time I thought Mitchell was the safe pick, at least he had the athleticism to be of impact defensively. Looking back at that draft, think how those who picked above the Pistons fell, LK is probably what you would expect from a #12 pick really if you judge him on that. See those picked above him, where does he go if you look at these guys. Taytum/Fox maybe Isaac, then Ball/LK/Markkanen?

1 1 PHI Markelle Fultz Washington
2 2 LAL Lonzo Ball UCLA
3 3 BOS Jayson Tatum
4 4 PHO Josh Jackson Kansas
5 5 SAC De'Aaron Fox Kentucky
6 6 ORL Jonathan Isaac Florida State
7 7 MIN Lauri Markkanen Arizona
8 8 NYK Frank Ntilikina
9 9 DAL Dennis Smith NC State
10 10 SAC Zach Collins Gonzaga
11 11 CHO Malik Monk Kentucky

Bowie over Jordan is the king of draft blunders (that poor, cursed Portland franchise).
Don't forget...Darko over Wade, Melo or Bosh as well... Don't ever forget.

I don’t think Packers fans are starved for positivity despite that catastrophic blunder (and yeah, it was catastrophic, imagine the 90s era Packers with Barry, and he probably doesn’t retire in his prime with them either).

Lions on the other hand... :(

I was keeping with something that had a Detroit connection.

For the sake of argument though, I’d still say Mandarich was worse. Bowie had a very serviceable career. Mandarich barely had A career, period.
