I was wondering if Collins is up for a trade?

I wonder what Hawks' fans think of RJ Barrett for John Collins?

No thanks. Barrett will improve, but Collins is too much of a valuable player for us.

Pass. Hawks are trying to make the playoffs next season. Collins is a surefy 20/10, 40% from 3, on elite efficiency with improving defense PF. Trading that for another wing leaves us with a hole at PF.

I'd jump at this chance...

LaMelo to Knicks

New York Knicks get:
No. 1 pick (from Minnesota)

Minnesota Timberwolves get: No. 6 pick (from Atlanta), 2021 top-three protected first-round pick (from New York)

Atlanta Hawks get: No. 8 pick, No. 27 pick (from New York via LA Clippers)

Kevin Pelton: If the Knicks are convinced LaMelo Ball is the star to lead them back into contention -- or at least respectability that would allow them to be players in free agency -- this is the kind of move that would enable them to jump up from the No. 8 pick they ended up with in the lottery.

Hawks GM Travis Schlenk has moved around on draft night each of the past two years, down for Trae Young and up for De'Andre Hunter. Picking up an extra pick at the end of the first round is strong reward for moving down two spots, and Atlanta would still be in good position to add a wing like Isaac Okoro, currently pegged No. 8 to the Knicks in Jonathan Givony's mock draft.

In principal yes, but I don't think #27 is enough from the Knicks to jump up 2 spots.
Consider what we gave up to move from the 8th spot last year - #8, #17, #32 and the Cavs 2020 1st now 2 2nds and a bad contract to move up to #4 last year.
Have the Knicks send French Frank and it's a done deal.

Interesting how many people want Cam/ Hunter/Heuter/Collins. Maybe we should keep em

Think there's some framework here from which a viable trade could work...

viewtopic.php?f=2&t=1991508#p84517734

Not that we necessarily would use the picks ourselves, but that it would give Schlenk some currency to use in one or more other deals.

Nah, we're supposed to just develop guys then feed them to the real teams, right?

These guys are wanted because they can all play and become very good and in some cases, great.

I know I said this a thousand times but there is no one in this class worth a Collins trade for us. No one. If we trade Collins, I honestly only want it for a Giannis rental. We need to work to resign him otherwise and if he wants too much, we will just go to FA 2021 then.

I agree with this. I'm not opposed to the idea of a Collins trade, but there's not really anyone out there right now worth it.

John was averaging 24/10/1.7 post all star break. With a 131 offensive rating shooting 52.5% from three. It don't make sense to trade him yet unless we get an offer that's amazing for him.

Kg's right we wore you down. :D.
Seriously though, those numbers are ridiculous. It's a small sample size 11 games, but we had 5 wins, 6 losses.
His efficiency with those numbers is impressive.

Yeah selling low on Collins makes absolutely 0 sense....too bad BR with their horrible trades suggestions doesn’t understand that.

Just saw AGAIN they suggested Collins + Huerter for #2. :banghead:

That's a ready made trade to help GSW, not so much the Hawks.

Trade them? Just suppose, Present day Collins and Huerter were returned to this year's draft. Where would you put them? Would either of them go in the top ten?

We all know that this is impossible. Therefore, would you trade either of them for a draft pick? If so, what number? Would you be willing to swap either of them for a top pick? Remember this adage. "A bird in the hand is worth more than two in the brush." We already know what we have. Draft picks, regardless of who they are, has to be proven in the NBA.

Why do posters wonder if we would trade? Because they already know what the Hawks have. Personally, I veto any thoughts of trading any of our young players, which we know, for the unknown draft pick, whoever it is.

:D
