Vassell seems low ceiling as hell. Seems like he'll top out as a 4th/5th scoring option. And he can't pass/handle at all either.

Man watching these dudes playoffs you see the what guys that can create their own offense and get buckets can do. Look at Murray, Mitchell, Lillard, and even CP3 are doing. I want the bulls to get more dynamic players. Not these safe passive players.

Everyone you mentioned can shoot too. You almost have to over value the ability to shoot in todays game.

Shroeder should be mentioned too. CP3 called him a dog that he’d go to war with. He can shoot and create.

Hampton looks like Avery Bradley to me.
Vassel looks like Otto with even less creating. Not bad at end of lotto. I’d pick Nesmith before him though.

I mean...Nesmith can't create for himself or others either. He's probably even worse at that. I would definitely take the guy with legit elite defensive potential (especially because wing defenders are so incredibly important) with good catch and shoot potential over the pure shooter, even if he's better at that. Nesmith is really overrated here IMO.

I agree but I just don't see many guys like that in this draft. Maybe Killian Hayes? I guess LaMelo, but he's going to need 30 shots a game to score 30 points.

D is important but not as important as other worldly shooting. Nesmith has special shooting potential which negates any elite D as seen in these playoffs. Even if he can’t create just him spacing the floor and running off screens makes a big difference for the rest of the team.

This is why we should really stop pursing bigman, just focus on what we have and load up our backcourt with guys who can create, make plays, and elite scorers.
Anthony Edwards
Kira Lewis
Cole Anthony
Maybe Tyrell Terry/Tyrese Maxey/Killian Hayes/LaMelo
Draft is lacking dynamic scorers but the list above could be scoring options later in their careers.
As for Killian Hayes he isn't explosive or quick. His game is going to rely on his shot which isn't efficient yet but he has a good foundation in place with a nice step back and good form to improve in this area.

Strongly disagree with basically everything here. To be an "otherworldly" shooter to me, you need to be able to create shots for yourself. Nesmith just can't. Elite catch and shoot guy? Sure. Elite shot creator for himself (like Lillard or bubble playoff Murray)? No way.

Re: 2020 NBA Draft Thread: Bulls pick 4th!
chance that they will be there when we draft:
Edwards - 10%
Ball - 25%
Wiseman - 30%
Deni - 50%
Toppin - 60%
Onyeka - 90%
Hayes - 95%
The above was based on High Level WAG mathematics
Who else might sneak into the top 4?

Agree, the game is way too perimeter oriented nowadays that shooting is at a premium. It's why I'm advocating for drafting a wing/guard over a big as much as possible.

For all the Poku fans, I just dropped my Poku breakdown. 11 minutes, in depth, both sides of the ball, with commentary. He’s got some ridiculous skills, but he’s a big time project. I think he’d be interesting in New Orleans with Zion.
Btw, I’ve been doing a morning NBA show and we just had a Bulls legend come through with a little promo. Shoutout to Eddy Curry

The wildly optimistic hope is obviously that he can keep adding to his game like a Devin Booker. Even if he doesn't do that, and all he does at an elite level is run around and drop 3s and at least try hard on defense, look how valuable that is with Joe Harris and Duncan Robinson.
Obviously he could just be another McDermott with poor IQ and no motor that doesn't even belong in a rotation, but he doesn't appear to be nearly the low activity dead fish Doug is.
Meanwhile, all these other wings who are supposedly point forwards or whatever but aren't good shooters or athletes could very well just be another Lonzo, MCW, Marko Jaric, Reece Gaines, Nick Calathes, etc. etc. etc. At least Nesmith probably has at least one clearly translatable, extremely valuable NBA-level skill.

Outside of James Wiseman, this kid is my favorite prospect of the 2020 draft class.

What has he shown that has stood out? Nothing I can see warranting someone taking him with a high pick.JohnnyTapwater wrote:Jvaughn wrote:
Based on what. He struggled mightily overseas, and hasn't really shown any NBA skill that he possesses. If we're just basing this off his highschool career, then he's worth a flyer where he's projected. Late 1st to early 2nd.
What I project based on his age, skill, and work ethic.
This is a KID. Looking at what he did won't do it here. It's what he's gonna do.
He's currently in Memphis working with Penny Hardaway and he is already improved leaps and bounds. Couple those improved rudimentary skills with his natural athleticism...and you can cancel Christmas..
Well it's been months since he has played.
Ultimately this is what we should be looking at ourselves when deciding who to draft. Which player has improved immensely over the course of the last several months since the season ended prematurely?
Some guys may shoot up the draft board after predraft workouts.
He was unselfish, made good decisions within the offense, played well on and off the ball, demonstrated some advanced passing reads off drives, is one of the quickest players in the draft and an above the rim finisher, and demonstrated great flashes on defense using his tools.
He started off the season very strong. As the season went on, it was clear he wasn't as good as the important playing backup behind him, Sek Henry, so RJ ended up getting less entitlement mins as the season went on, then he got banged up with injury, and his shooting fell off towards the end, tanking his efficiency.
He's not there yet as a shooter, had some bad misses, but I think it's got a fairly positive projection, he's an athletic slasher on the ball, great size for the PG spot, very balanced all-around game.
I have him about bang on mid-1st round, personally. He was overshadowed by LaMelo's production in the league, but LaMelo is the best prospect in the draft, and had a ridiculous amount of usage on the worst team in the league. RJ had a very different situation, playing off of other on-ball talents, having a changing role, and a competitive but somewhat dysfunctional team, with a ball buster of a coach that I believe RJ didn't enjoy being under.
His production and pedigree pre-NBL was also extreeeemely positive. Lots of question marks but I believe plenty of potential.

Whoever gets RJ Hampton is getting a steal if he falls to the middle of the first round. There was a legit chance that he could have moved into the #2 or #3 PG.

I hope whoever drafts this kid loses the idea that he's a point guard. He would be a nice fit in New Orleans. They could use a talented prospect who might not be ready for prime time out of the gate. I like Hampton with the Pelicans.
It would be fun to watch if Kira Lewis Jr. ended up in Phoenix. Hampton and Lewis Jr. could be the two most explosive guards in the 2020 draft class. Lewis Jr. on the Suns would give his body a couple years to fully develop playing behind Rubio. I think Kira Lewis Jr. is someone who will help them from day one, but he'll still need that development time period.
