Never said Wiseman wasn't high risk nor did I said he had no warts.

Recency bias?
Bam been killing it so everyone wants the next Bam - and hope that OO will be him.
We went through the same thing when Draymond Green was killing it - everyone wanted the next him.
Or when Durant burst onto the scene as a 7ft scoring machine at the wing - everyone wanted the next 7ft wing.
I hope this kid does end up killing it and being the next big thing, so long as he is on our roster when it happens!!

Re: Prospect Thread: Onyeka Okongwu
It's not really the Bam comparisons that's making the case for Okongwu. A few days ago a lot of us were asking how a center could go top 3 if they turn into liabilities defending on perimeter. Lo and behold, Okongwu, a center who can defend on the perimeter ... it just so happens Bam is the benchmark for mobile centers right now.
Still hemming between him and Wiseman. Just scary to imagine passing on Wiseman's potential, considering he hasn't really played to his apparent strengths at this point.

I actually might be all aboard the OO train. Haven't watched him play much, but loving what I read about him and the negatives don't scare me too much.
If it comes down to him and Wiseman, that's gonna be a real tough choice IMO.

Mitch don't select at 3 a prospect who didn't attempt a 3 in college when your team was last in offense and you can get WCS or Harry Giles for season tickets. Thanks

Okongwu's defensive versatility is really appealing to me. I don't think he'll be Bam, but he's switchable, a good rebounder, and a good/great rim protector.
He's also a guy who won't move the win column to much for us. If Ball and Edwards are gone then we have another building block and can hopefully find a star in 2021.

Limited offensive game. A more mobile version of Bismack Biyombo.
I prefer Wiseman out of the bigs

I prefer Wiseman as well, but comparing Okongwu to Biz seems pretty lazy. Just because his offensive game might be somewhat limited and he doesn't project to be a big time scorer doesn't mean he is the same on offense as Biz, who is about as bad at offense as a player could possibly be other than screening. Okongwu is a more fluid/functional athlete. He has way better body control and coordination.. He has good hands, whereas Biz has some of the worst hands you'll ever see in the league. He has good touch, whereas Biz has virtually no touch. He already has a better post game than Biz currently does. Hes a good finisher instead of just a dunk finisher. He actually has potential to develop a drive game.

How is he different than Wendell Carter Jr.? Not saying I’m completely against him, but his college game seems similar.

He reminds me of a young Tristan Thompson with a much better offensive game

You’re probably right. I’ve only watched limited footage of him but wasn’t particularly impressed other than his potential to possibly guard the perimeter and be a rim protector.

I don't know did WCJ attempt a three in college? That might be one difference.

OO seems to be quicker off his feet as well?
Not that Carter Jr is super heavy footed, but OO seems to have that quick 2nd and 3rd jump ability.
I could be wrong though.

For a guy 6'9" 247 OO is fast as lightning and quick as thunder.

One thing that I really like in the scouting reports on OO is all the talk about how competitive he is.
My picks:
2020 Draft (3rd pick) - Tyrese Haliburton, Devin Vassell, or Onyeka Okongwu
2021 Draft (11th pick) - Moses Moody

I really, really like Okongwu, as much as I liked Washington last year.
I would be thrilled with Okongwu or Hayes personally, even moreso than if Edwards dropped.

I really, really want to like this kid, but I’m just not sure.
I get those Tyrus Thomas feels about him:
Looks awesome swatting balls 11 rows back, but that’s generally from the weak side and while flashy, maybe not the right thing to do.
And he looks great throwing down alley oop dunks, but kind of looks all lanky and a little crazy with the ball in his hands.
Is it just me? Anyone else see a little Thomas there?

I see you're a fellow sufferer of PTTSD.
(Post Tyrus Thomas Stress Disorder)
I go through phases where everyone - the mailman, the lady at the local bakery - looks like Tyrus Thomas. *shudder*
