Wouldn't be surprised if he turns us down also. Who would want to hitch their wagon to this clown show?

You are a little over the top here. This is a job every candidate wants.

Its actually higher than the Nets due to Kyrie and Durant.

Doesnt mean they'll hire the right coach, but they have numerous options.

You just told us why Jay Wright doesn't want the job, so apparently every candidate doesn't want it.

Are you saying Ty Lue prefers us to the Nets job?

Jay Wright was never a serious candidate. It was driven by the media. That is not what i consider to be a serious candidate.

Lue will go to the team that offers him the most money but i've heard he prefers Sixers.

Not a lot of great candidates it seems.
2025-2026 Philadelphia 76ers:

Maxey/McCain/Lowry
Edgecombe/Grimes/Gordon
George/Oubre/Edwards
Barlow/Watford/Walker
Embiid/Drummond/Bona/Broome

Joerger is the only candidate. I guess I'd settle for Atkinson though his ability manage egos didn't look so hot last time.

Ty Lue's defenses are shockingly bad. Seriously, like the 2nd worst defense in the league bad. I don't see any redeeming value in hiring him. Hiring him plus Elton remaining just feels like a countdown till one of our stars asks for a trade.

Thanks. I'll be interested to see how the roster changes unfold too. Hope they can move Al and maybe Tobias if some team bites.

Raptor fans probably thought the same about Nurse in the beginning. One thing I respect about Lue is he was not willing to take the Lakers job if they were not going to give him the years he wanted. You have to respect the man for that. And that says to me he is confident in his coaching abilities and he is not willing to compromise. He has a backbone and is probably a lot tougher than given credit for.

Another thing is this. If not for injuries Cleveland would have beat GS the first time they met in the finals. GS realized that coaching was not a weakness of Cleveland. Cleveland put up a great fight even shorthanded. GS knew a healthy Cleveland team with good coaching was going to beat them every time and it did. So they did the only thing they could do which is get more firepower.
You want it to be one way....but it's the other way. (Marlo)

Joerger has alot of baggage and would need to really nail the interview + show the owners he has changed.

In both Sac and Memphis he has rubbed ownership the wrong way.

I hate Lue as a choice for the coach. He seems to be just one more star cuddler. I want someone that can take bid and ben for the ears and explain them that they should become what they can become or they will be remembered as failures.

Is Stan Van Gundy not being considered?

Based on possible options, I have SVG and Lue as top on my list.

Idk do we really want Embiid and Ben to have input on the coaching choice. Are these guys going to want a coach who holds them accountable or one like Brett who they walked all over and never had a bad thing to say about him because of that.

I may be overreacting but this is worrisome to me. Ownership is so scared of these two guys not getting their way(becauss they are the money makers) that the culture of this team may not change and thats a problem.

Once they chose the coach, they have to listen to him. Until then, they can just disregard the coach.

If the coach says to shoot. Ben can say “why should i listen to you? You never become all-star.”

Or when SVG tells Embiid to get in shape. Biid can say.. “wow, says the guy who’s borderline obese.”

It’s basic psychology where you put a higher value on things you have selected or have a fingerprint on.

That. And Biid and Ben knows better what the headcoach should be.

I think you have the wrong impression of Lue, he’s probably the opposite and that might be one of his biggest strengths. Here’s the story of lue calling out lebron game 7 of the finals they won. If lue can do that to lebron in that moment, I don’t think he’s scared of Joel and Ben.

Lue, ducking in and out of a back office, kept an eye on LeBron. “He stormed out of the locker room,” Lue says. The coach laughs as he tells the story. “I didn’t really think he was playing that bad,” Lue admits. “But I used to work for Doc Rivers in Boston, and he told me, ‘I never want to go into a Game 7 when the best player is on the other team.’ We had the best player. We needed him to be his best. I know he might have been tired, but f--- that. We had to ride him. And he had to take us home.”

Damn.. we need this

Isn't this just a worse version of Brett Brown?

Ben and Jo aren't going to be making the final decision.

They are going to be able to ask potential candidate questions regarding their style of play and how they plan to use them.

That is no different than other team's stars.

This will be a Harris decision with input from Brand.

Just like every other decision made over the past few years. Harris, Harris, Harris.

Well the Nets, who were presumably our biggest "competition" for Lue just hired Steve Nash
