What a mess we made of this nice draft.. and at the time I though we fleeced em..

I think our player development/talent evaluation has been poo pop for a while. Rosas pick of Culver doesn't inspire any confidence of talent ID.

19 - John Collins
22 - Jarrett Allen
23 - OG Anunoby
27 - Kyle Kuzma
45 - Dillon Brooks

Minnesota:
16 - Justin Patton

Oh its easy to talk right now, well... Classic Timberwolves excuse

Again. Patton had high potential. I was ok with this pick. However, it was a lack of whole scouting, development process, lack of chemistry, bad coaching, questionable rotations which failed for us.

Let's imagine that we drafted Anunoby. There was a chance that we would have never been developed in MIN as he did in TOR.

It's insanely ironic that we passed on Anunoby because of his injury concerns for a player who's NBA career never got off the ground because of injury concerns.

It's a little ironic, but do we know that we would have taken Anunoby if he didn't have an injury history? Would somebody else have taken him before us if he didn't have an injury history?

NO one liked the Patton pick here it was a hge WTF moment with most of us wanting Allen, Collins or Anounoby. The Thibs apologists and always positive crew managed to calm some of us down and be open minded to Patton but it was still a terrible dumb mistake to draft him over some of the players on board.

I think my 3 man draft would be:

#1- Anthony Edwards
#17- Saddiq Bey or Tyrell Terry
#33 -Udoka Azubuike

Mine is (if there are no trades but we all know Rosas will be making trades)

#1 Edwards
#17 Pokusevski or Cole Anthony
#33 Leandro Bolmaro or Tre Jones

I prefer Wiseman, but I could live with either of these. Most think Bey will be gone before 17.

I also like Tyrell Terry but not at 17. It might be Trae Young vibes that he gives off that is making him ascend up people’s draft boards. Too bad he probably will be gone by 33./ although I won’t be upset of Rosass takes a shot at him turning into our version of Trae at 17 but I would hope he trades down with Philly instead and Takes Terry at 21 and gets another asset.

I think their might be some solid undrafted big men for the wolves to sign (like Reid last year) Killian Tillie? Nick Richards?

Who knows why a player like Luka entered the draft, why do any euro's enter the draft if they can just sign with a team whenever like say Campazzo rumors? Avdija specifically, why enter the draft and not be able to control your future? How about a player like Usman Garuba? Can Rosas just go out and sign him?

This is a great board and I love the passionate, varying opinions. These are my top 5 guys:

1. Wiseman (He needs to be the pick if we don’t trade down or out)
2. Okongwu
3. Avdija
4. Toppin
5. Edwards

#1 Wiseman
#17 Maxey
#33 Oturu

As Neeva has pointed out many times before, GSW must be salivating for Wiseman because he’s the perfect fit for their roster. Offer them a swap and we get our 2021 pick back or just take Wiseman and don’t look back. Heck...for all we know, he could end up being better than KAT when it’s all said and done.

You actually have to go through the draft.

Everyone, in the entire world presumably, is forced to enter into the draft by the time they're 24 (I think). If you don't get drafted then you're a FA like anyone else. So in all likelihood Campazzo was in a draft class 5-6 years ago but no one was interested in picking up his rights.

I'm not sure I buy that.

I know it's the consensus opinion and Wiseman is the latest fetish around here, but there's two issues with him going to GS; firstly, there's been enough smoke going back a while that teams weren't high on Wiseman and secondly, that they want to be the Spurs and so would be looking for someone else to take up the mantle Curry will soon leave behind. They'll draft BPA, not for need. Maybe that's Wiseman, maybe that's Edwards or Ball or they think it's someone else entirely. Regardless, I highly doubt they're just looking for guys to compliment their aging (aged?) core that likely isn't a true contender anymore.

Fair enough...it is too expensive for GSW if they don’t believe in Wiseman the way I do. I would argue that the Warriors still have a 2-4 year window. I really like Toppin too and wouldn’t be surprised if he ends up being the best player in this class. I believe his floor is Brandon Clarke who I really like as a player.

As you said he's moving up draft boards and I don't think we can get him safely any later than 17. I wouldn't mind if he's the pick there.

Right. I'm not trading back to 2 unless we get our pick back straight up. None of this adding protection to it sheet.

All reports I have heard are Toppins D if total crap. Clarke is not a good comp.

Tillie gets drafted I think. I know he has injury concerns but in the 30s and 40s his talent outweighs the risk.

Richards fits, as does EJ Montgomery also from KU.

Return to Minnesota Timberwolves
