His jumper appears to be wildly erratic (and that was distinguishable through his career at Washington) and he appears to lack the ability to find ways to produce points when he's on the court. He just floats on the offensive end of the court. Wouldn't surprise me if he maxed out as a 6-8 ppg player.

Josh Green won't score off the dribble, either, but he appears to be a little more active offensively when he's on the court. Jumper seems a little more consistent and he'll find ways to cut to the basket or find open pockets in the defense where he can hit catch and shoot jumpers. A lot less floating than Thybulle.

Vassell has the highest upside of the three, in my eyes. Nobody will confuse him for an outright shotcreator, but he's kinda frisky in that mid-range area. He'll score a bit off the dribble there and buff his scoring output. Which, in conjunction with his potentially elite perimeter defense, will make him a feared two-way player with fringe star upside.

I definitely share similar point of view. I question Thybulle’s offensive development. His 3% is misleading, after an average start he really dropped and only shot 25% in playoffs from 3. He’s just kinda there on offense. Can he develop more? Of course, but will he is the more important question. I think I lean towards no. I think Vassell is already significantly better than Thybulle will ever be on offense with more potential to grow. Thybulle is very special on defense, but if he can’t shoot or contribute much on offense he’s going to be limited to 20-25 minutes tops. I don’t think Vassell is quite there defensively, and is more slight of frame, while having great length, I think he’ll struggle guarding bigger players more than Thybulle.

Long ramble way of saying I’d think about moving Thybulle to get into the 8-11 range for Vassell. I mean ideally it would be amazing to have Thybulle and Vassell, but I don’t see that happening without moving Ben or Joel.

Hampton + Terry is mouthwatering

I’d be ecstatic with that draft scenario. Would be great acquisitions.

I think there will be some really surprising moves made around this year’s draft. Can’t see Terry falling to us that late.

Ha thanks realgm wouldn’t let me use the old man emoji.

I really like Vassell. Probably my favorite player in the draft for the sixers. I also value that type of player probably more than most just due to how rare and valuable they are to every team. Like every team in the league needs good 2 way wings.

And just brainstorming of how we could get into that range of the draft without embiid or Simmons, Thybulle is probably our next most valuable asset. I just don’t know if he truly has that much value. But I think something like Thybulle, Scott and 34 or 36 to Phoenix for 10 and kaminsky. I don’t think I’d go Thybulle and 21 to move up. I’d rather use 21 and something to move up to 17 range to get Tyrese Maxey.

I love Vassell, but if we're trading that high up in the draft, I'd probably rather target someone who I feel more confident in scoring off the dribble. Like Killian Hayes (my #1) or R.J. Hampton (my #2).

Also, I'm unsure if I like the idea of using Thybulle to trade up (even if we're getting a better version of him). Because in the back of our minds, I think we have to be doing playoff math. We should be aiming to get to 6 non-big, playoff-worthy rotation players (a mixture of shotcreating and defenders). I definitely think Vassell is one of those guys. But I also think Thybulle is one of those guys. So we'd really be losing one to gain one and stay at the same Playoff Math that we began at.

Embiid/Horford
1. Ben Simmons (defense)
2. Matisse Thybulle (defense)
3.
4.
5.
6.

I think we might have the best Playoff Math by just standing pat and using our top 3 picks.

#21
Tre Jones (defense, off-dribble)
Skylar Mays (defense, off-dribble)

#34 and #36
LeAndro Balmaro (defense)
Paul Reed (defense)
Tres Tinkle (defense)
Killian Tillie (defense)
Ashton Hagans (defense, off-dribble)

on and on, etc

I think Bolmaro might be in that 21 area at the moment.

Oh really? I hate not having a centralized site for consensus big boards.

I really like Bolmaro, but I need to look more into his shotcreation upside. Right now, I'm leaning more towards boxing him in as a defender that scores mostly assisted buckets.

I think I might feel more comfortable with securing a creator at #21, at the moment.

Well, along with mock drafts, I am basing this off my opinion too. The circumstances make sense for it:

-Great passer/handler for a 6'7 prospect.
-Has workable mechanics on his shot and is a 70%+ FT shooter which is promising.
-Plays solid defense and is incredibly good at deflections/steals for someone his size
-Is an international prospect that could be a draft and stash.

With the offseason being extremely abridged compared to normal, I think playoff teams will likely go for longterm investments this year rather than prospects to help immediately. Not enough onboarding time.

All that makes sense. I just think this league is too obsessed with shooting to properly value a guy like Bolmaro.

For his career, Bolmaro is shooting 28% from three at low volume and 67% from the free throw line.

I feel like there's a percentage of teams that simply won't want him because they can't envision him spacing the floor for them.

I hope the number of teams that think that is high so we can get him in the 30s.

It’s going to be interesting to see which one of Tre Jones, Malachi Flynn and Devon Dotson pans out. I think if you consider the numbers, Dotson seems like the best prospect. He easily passes all number tests for me, blue chip prospect at traditional powerhouse, is still pretty young. Flynn and Jones fall short in a few of those categories. If you compare Dotson to Kenna, Lowry, etc numbers, he’s right there with them. I feel he’s being underrated a bit.

Wouldn't be surprised if all three panned out to varying degrees.

I got them ranked...

Defensively:
1. Jones
2. Dotson
3. Flynn

Off the dribble:
1. Dotson
2. Flynn
3. Jones

Passing
1. Jones
2. Flynn
3. Dotson

Jumpshot:
1. Flynn
2. Jones
3. Dotson

Personally, I like Jones the best. I think he's the strongest defender of the three with the best head on his shoulders. Really smart, mature, composed kid.

As an aside, I'm still surprised that the Kira Lewis crowd isn't a Devon Dotson crowd. Devon is a way better defender and finisher than Kira and an even more aggressive attacker.

While some of those guards are interesting at 34/36 and ultimately bench rotation pieces. I’d rather move up from 21 with either 34/36 to the 16-18 range to get Tyresse Maxey, who I can see becoming one of the five guys that are on the floor when it matters most. I just think he’s a far superior prospect on both ends to any of these deep draft players. His off ball movement is advanced, and his ability to play off ball as well as being able to initiate/create really fits our needs. Plus he just had a knack for winning plays, a Toronto/heat/Celtics type player.

See, I think the opposite.

I can see Tre Jones on the floor closing out playoff games in the crunchtime 5 because of his defensive acumen.

Maxey just screams bench scorer/6th man that can't play down the stretch in a crucial spot because he's so weak defensively.

There are talented young players that can score off the dribble in every draft. The ones that seem to develop into true stars that impact winning are usually the guys that standout on the defensive end. The guys that just score and get beat defensively are usually the guys who put up big numbers on lotto teams and wind up coming off the bench later in their careers as scoring specialists because they can't impact winning on their own. In my evaluations, Maxey seems like one of those guys.

I think Maxey will put up better numbers, but I wouldn't be surprised if his teammate Ashton Hagans is the more impactful winner. Assuming his bad personality doesn't get in the way of his basketball career.

At the very least, Tre Jones will be a 12-14 ppg version of T.J. McConnell.

Coaches and teammates will love him and he'll be a gamer that makes winning plays on both ends of the floor.

Thanks Kobblehead, some great thoughts and analysis on Tre Jones.

Been watching tape on him also, he’s an intelligent player my biggest concern is his lack of athleticism.
