Miami got Butler for Richardson. We will propably have to wait 1-2 years, and trade for expiring, but i can see it happen. Its better to overvalue your players than undervalue i thought we learned that lesson.

Miami got Butler because he agreed to sign there. He was a free agent. Philly facilitated the sign-and-trade to avoid losing him for nothing.

We had our fair share of free agents in the past. Its not like everybody tries to avoid Orlando. If we build a winning atmosphere, we will give ourselves a chance.

The distinction with Miami is that not only are they a destination city, but they do the scouting, drafting, player development of a small market team like the Spurs or Thunder. Hate on the Heat as much as you want, but they're a model franchise.

If you're going to be a small market team that wants to win games, being great at those things is a prerequisite to be relevant. Otherwise you're the Sacramento Kings.

Yes, this is part of what I touched on with the Knicks vs. Brooklyn. The Knicks should be a premier franchise based on destination so that factor alone is clearly not enough. As you laid out in more detail, you need to also have right management team in place.

One of these two can be obtained by any franchise. It isn’t quite that simple. Elite owners / GMs / Presidents don’t grow on trees. Still, it should be **possible** for every franchise to have this.

Unfortunately, not every franchise can be an LA or NY. We are handicapped on that side of the equation and some fans here seem to refuse to accept this.

Anyways, you're on point that teams like ours need to do a better job placing better experts around the organization for this franchise to be successful. We have not been a consistent winning franchise in quite a while. The brain trust in the organization isn't top notch. As such, the Magic are in the position they are in. It's hard to think this franchise wants to get better in the long term. Maybe they do. Maybe they don't. If they do, they need to try harder because this franchise has become the Detroit Pistons of mediocrity. I personally refuse to deal with mediocrity. If this team refuses to do better by themselves, their players, and the fans, then what is the point to continuing follow this team if they come across like a bunch of personnels who don't give a damn if this team succeeds or fail to fulfill their obligation to be a successful franchise.

Meh. We did okay this season. But everything that's been going on has been turning me off from the league in general.

Also, Small market teams besides the Spurs only have 5-8 year windows before stars decide to leave us while giving certain teams their entire careers to win a ring. You guys know which teams. Starting to find no reason to care about the NBA between all those reasons.

Would much rather watch the MLB and NHL which I love much more than the NBA where every team has a virtually equal chance to not only win, but to retain their talent.
