That list is in no particular order. If we ended up with two players on that list I wouldn't be mad about it. I think that both Maledon and Bolmaro will be taken before our first pick, but I think a bunch of those players could be available with either the 29th or 59th pick.
All those players excite me for different reasons, I think each could bring something to our team that we could use. You've got to remember that no ones perfect, each of those players have positives and negatives about their game. You've got to try to put them in a spot where they can use their strengths and develop their weakness on the 905.
If everyone was taken and we ended up with Diakite at #59 I would be pretty happy.
I think Diakite is interesting, but a 24 years old (in Jan), I am thinking maybe you can have a younger one or project as a starter. Diakite has below standing reach, maybe he can be a backup PF/C like Ibaka. As for 59, I am happier for a higher upside
I think he has just as much upside as anyone between 20-60.
His age counts against him if that bothers you, but you don't want to under value players because off bias and incorrectly perceived flaws. Like I said, none of these players are perfect, there is no such thing as a sure thing. VanVleet was too short, OG's knee was too risky, Siakam was too raw, Lowry was a coaching nightmare, etc. We have a team of underdogs who were overlooked by others who ended up being wrong.
Diakite plays rock solid defence and his jumper looks like there might be something there. I feel like his defence alone could earn him some minutes in his rookie season. I see him primarily guarding the PF, but I think the switchability on defence with him is whats enticing, and he can guard bigs away from the net.
