Tyrell Terry
I don't see him having his own thread. What does everyone think about him?
I am intrigued at the moment. He is rail thin but I can see him easily adding some weight, he is plenty tall and length is good enough.
He plays very much within himself, picks his spots, measured, elite shooting ability, good passing vision, decent athlete although not a vertical player he moves well with the ball, can be a decent team defender.
In a draft like this I would take a chance on him very high.

Pound for pound , he’s easily the most skilled offensive player in this draft

He's headed for the lottery, imo.

Sam Vecenie was saying he's now 6'3" or 6'4"? If he can get up to about 175 lbs at least, he should be viable. Interesting combo guard. Updated measurements will be a factor for him.

I can see alot of teams looking at him in the lottery but who knows with these gms, he could wind up getting drafted in the twenties.

Tyrell Terry is a freshman doing what he's doing. It would be stupid for him not to be a lottery pick IMO. He's going to be a great shooter and a great passer when he figures out the NBA game. To me he's the steal of this draft. There aren't a lot of freshmen in history who have the numbers he has as a PG. On top of that rumor is he's super intelligent. This is what you look for when drafting. For him to be criticized on his size, age and school he went to is ridiculous when he's this good as a freshman.

Yeah or just workout footage. He seemed like too much of a non-athlete (just 2 blocks for the season and a lot of his finishes around the basket were a little too cute/finesse to work against NBA bigs) to be a real difference-maker to me, but any little bit helps. I think people are a little behind in realizing that one-position defenders at the point guard position are even more exploitable on defense than traditional 5s, who can at least still challenge shots and get rebounds by virtue of being big, so they have to clear a pretty high bar on offense to make up for that. When you say that shooting and playmaking are the most valuable skills, that's valid but also a double-edged sword where he's also going to have to match up against skilled offensive players who are likely more explosive than he is.

I believe the intelligence rumor from what I have seen on the court.

Yeah, he also goes to Stanford so it fits together. I do have some issues with him though. He's not quick, probably won't be a good defender and plays a lot off-ball. I also don't think he creates a lot of space off-ball, but he can make really tight shot because hes such a good shooter. But he controls the pace of the game so well, that ability reminds me of Paul Pierce. Not a lot of players can slow the entire game and capitalize on the holes like him.

Aren't you cool. You just discovered Terry reading a Sam Vecenie mock or something.
I was right about 3 point shooting. I expect to be right about Tacko Fall. Some coach will figure out how to use Tacko Fall. This movement towards undersized centers will sweep ng back. Back to the basket scorers will return to the NBA.

He's 6'2" barefoot now. Grew an inch since the season ended.

You never know until you see the official measurements. Its common to do this type of stuff before there are measurements out.

Lol, I don't look at any mocks outside of the ones done here. This is my only source. I start to dive in deeper closer to my fantasy leagues rookie draft. We are doing it this year prior to the actual draft so been watching a ton recently.

I think he will actually improve as his body develops, he might not be a super quick first step guy but he is actually pretty fast and I think quick enough with the ball. I think he will be a decent team defender eventually but below average defender is likely. I actually love that he can play off the ball, it just allows for him to be dangerous in other aspects of the offense. I think he was just fitting in at Stanford as well which is why he was off the ball so much. It is hard coming in as a freshman. What really stood out to me was he really understood his relation to the ball, there would be for instance a shot that goes up, it's a miss and most players would go for the board but he could tell if it was actually one that he would be able to grab without making the move for it, he didn't waste any movement and was ready to either switch to offense or continue the defensive possession.

Huge fan of this kid. But don't see any realistic situation where the Raptors have any chance to draft him. He's lotto bound or 15-20.

He certainly would help their shooting woes. I think at the prime of his career he will be a 6th man type rather than a lead PG, but an elite 6th man. I said in another thread, he reminds me a ton of Jason Terry. Similar size but with that high, quick release that can separate a player from a specialist 8th man shooter and a elite 6th man sniper. If that makes sense lol.

Jason Terry was pretty quick and he was a pretty good defender for being undersized. I also think Terry is smaller. I don’t see the comparison other than the shooting, but a lot of Tyrell’s game is shooting right now. As he gets older you’ll see him develop other parts of his game.
